< 2 Samuel 20 >
1 Also it bifelde, that a man of Belial was there, Siba bi name, the sone of Bothri, a man of the generacioun of Gemyny; and he sownede with a clarioun, and seide, No part is to vs in Dauid, nether eritage in the sone of Ysai; thou, Israel, turne ayen in to thi tabernaclis.
and there to encounter: chanced man Belial and name his Sheba son: child Bichri man [Ben]jaminite and to blow in/on/with trumpet and to say nothing to/for us portion in/on/with David and not inheritance to/for us in/on/with son: child Jesse man: anyone to/for tent his Israel
2 And al Israel was departid fro Dauid, and suede Siba, the sone of Bothri; forsothe the men of Juda cleuyden to her kyng, fro Jordan `til to Jerusalem.
and to ascend: rise all man Israel from after David after Sheba son: child Bichri and man Judah to cleave in/on/with king their from [the] Jordan and till Jerusalem
3 And whanne the kyng hadde come in to his hows in Jerusalem, he took ten wymmen, hise secundarie wyues, whiche he hadde left to kepe the hous, and he bitook hem in to keping, and yaf mete to hem; and he entride not to hem; but thei weren closid `til to the dai of her deeth, and lyueden in widewehed.
and to come (in): come David to(wards) house: home his Jerusalem and to take: take [the] king [obj] ten woman: wife concubine which to rest to/for to keep: guard [the] house: home and to give: put them house: home charge and to sustain them and to(wards) them not to come (in): come and to be to constrain till day to die they widowhood living
4 Forsothe Dauid seide to Amasa, Clepe thou to gidere to me alle the men of Juda in to the thridde dai, and be thou present.
and to say [the] king to(wards) Amasa to cry out to/for me [obj] man Judah three day and you(m. s.) here to stand: stand
5 Therfor Amasa yede, that he clepe to gidere the puple of Juda; and he dwellide ouer the couenaunt, which the kyng hadde set to hym.
and to go: went Amasa to/for to cry out [obj] Judah (and to delay *Q(K)*) from [the] meeting: time appointed which to appoint him
6 Sotheli Dauid seide to Abisai, Now Siba, the sone of Botri, schal turmente vs more than Absolon dide; therfor take the seruauntis of thi lord, and pursue hym, lest in hap he fynde strengthid citees, and ascape vs.
and to say David to(wards) Abishai now be evil to/for us Sheba son: child Bichri from Absalom you(m. s.) to take: take [obj] servant/slave lord your and to pursue after him lest to find to/for him city to gather/restrain/fortify and to rescue eye: before(the eyes) our
7 Therfor the men of Joab yeden out with Abisai, and Cerethi and Ferethi, and alle stronge men yeden out of Jerusalem to pursue Siba, the sone of Bochry.
and to come out: come after him human Joab and [the] Cherethite and [the] Pelethite and all [the] mighty man and to come out: come from Jerusalem to/for to pursue after Sheba son: child Bichri
8 And whanne thei weren bisidis the greet stoon, which is in Gabaon, Amasa cam, and ran to hem; forsothe Joab was clothid with a streit coote at the mesure of his abit, and was gird aboue with a swerd, `ether dagger, hangynge doun `til to the entrayls in a schethe, `which swerd maad `craftily myyte go out bi liyt touchyng, and smyte. Therfor Joab seide to Amasa,
they(masc.) with [the] stone [the] great: large which in/on/with Gibeon and Amasa to come (in): come to/for face: before their and Joab to gird garment his clothing his (and upon him *Q(k)*) belt sword to join upon loin his in/on/with razor her and he/she/it to come out: come and to fall: fall
9 Heil, my brother! And he helde with the riyt hond the chyn of Amasa, as kissinge him.
and to say Joab to/for Amasa peace: well-being you(m. s.) brother: compatriot my and to grasp hand right Joab in/on/with beard Amasa to/for to kiss to/for him
10 Forsothe Amasa took not kepe of the swerd, `which swerd Joab hadde, and Joab smoot Amasa in the side, and schedde out his entrailis in to the erthe, and Amasa was deed; and Joab addide not `the secounde wounde. Forsothe Joab and Abisai, his brother, pursueden Siba, the sone of Bochri.
and Amasa not to keep: look at in/on/with sword which in/on/with hand Joab and to smite him in/on/with her to(wards) [the] belly and to pour: pour belly his land: soil [to] and not to repeat to/for him and to die and Joab and Abishai brother: male-sibling his to pursue after Sheba son: child Bichri
11 In the meene tyme whanne `sum men of the children of Dauid, of the felowis of Joab, hadden stonde bisidis the deed bodi of Amasa, thei seiden, Lo! he that wolde be the felowe of Dauid for Joab.
and man to stand: stand upon him from youth Joab and to say who? which to delight in in/on/with Joab and who? which to/for David after Joab
12 Forsothe Amasa was bispreynt with blood, and lay in the myddil of the weie. Sum man siy this, that al the puple abood to se Amasa, and he remouyde Amasa fro the weie in to the feeld, and he hilide Amasa with a cloth, lest men passynge schulden abide for hym.
and Amasa to roll in/on/with blood in/on/with midst ([the] highway *LA(bh)*) and to see: see [the] man for to stand: stand all [the] people and to turn: turn [obj] Amasa from [the] highway [the] land: country and to throw upon him garment like/as as which to see: see all [the] to come (in): come upon him and to stand: stand
13 Therfor whanne he was remouyd fro the weie, ech man passide suynge Joab to pursue Siba, the sone of Bochri.
like/as as which to thrust away from [the] highway to pass all man after Joab to/for to pursue after Sheba son: child Bichri
14 Forsothe Siba hadde passide bi alle the lynagis of Israel til in to Habela, and in to Bethmacha; and alle chosun men weren gaderid to hym.
and to pass in/on/with all tribe Israel Abel-beth-maachah [to] and Abel-beth-maachah Abel-beth-maachah and all [the] Bichrites (and to gather *Q(K)*) and to come (in): come also after him
15 Therfor thei camen, and fouyten ayens hym in Habela, and in Bethmacha, and cumpassiden the citee with strengthingis; and the citee was bisegid. Sotheli al the cumpany, that was with Joab, enforside to distrie the wallis.
and to come (in): come and to confine upon him in/on/with Abel-beth-maachah [to] Abel-beth-maachah [the] Abel-beth-maachah and to pour: build siege mound mound to(wards) [the] city and to stand: stand in/on/with rampart and all [the] people: soldiers which with Joab to ruin to/for to fall: fall [the] wall
16 And a wijs womman of the citee criede an hiy, Here ye! here ye! seie ye to Joab, Neiye thou hidur, and Y schal speke with thee.
and to call: call to woman wise from [the] city to hear: hear to hear: hear to say please to(wards) Joab to present: come till here/thus and to speak: speak to(wards) you
17 And whanne he hadde neiyed to hir, sche seide to hym, Art thou Joab? And he answeride, Y am. To whom sche spak thus, Here thou the wordis of thin handmayde. Which Joab answeride, Y here.
and to present: come to(wards) her and to say [the] woman you(m. s.) Joab and to say I and to say to/for him to hear: hear word maidservant your and to say to hear: hear I
18 And eft sche seide, A word was seid in eld prouerbe, Thei that axen, axe in Habela; and so thei profitiden.
and to say to/for to say to speak: speak to speak: speak in/on/with first: previous to/for to say to ask to ask in/on/with Abel and so to finish
19 Whethir Y am not, that answere treuthe to Israel? and sekist thou to distrie a citee, and to distrie a modir citee in Israel? whi castidist thou doun the eritage of the Lord?
I to ally faithful Israel you(m. s.) to seek to/for to die city and mother in/on/with Israel to/for what? to swallow up inheritance LORD
20 And Joab answeride, and seide, Fer be, fer be this fro me; Y `caste not doun, nether Y distrye.
and to answer Joab and to say forbid forbid to/for me if to swallow up and if to ruin
21 The thing hath not so it silf; but a man of the hil of Effraym, Siba, sone of Bochri, bi surname, reiside his hond ayens kyng Dauid; bitake ye him aloone, and we schulen go awei fro the citee. And the womman seide to Joab, Lo! his heed schal be sent to thee bi the wal.
not so [the] word: thing for man from mountain: hill country Ephraim Sheba son: child Bichri name his to lift: fight hand his in/on/with king in/on/with David to give: give [obj] him to/for alone him and to go: went from upon [the] city and to say [the] woman to(wards) Joab behold head his to throw to(wards) you about/through/for [the] wall
22 Therfor the womman entride to al the puple, and sche spak to hem wiseli; whiche `castiden forth to Joab the heed of Siba, sone of Bochri, gird of. And Joab sownede with a trumpe, and thei departiden fro the citee, ech man in to hise tabernaclis; forsothe Joab turnede ayen to Jerusalem to the kyng.
and to come (in): come [the] woman to(wards) all [the] people in/on/with wisdom her and to cut: cut [obj] head Sheba son: child Bichri and to throw to(wards) Joab and to blow in/on/with trumpet and to scatter from upon [the] city man: anyone to/for tent: home his and Joab to return: return Jerusalem to(wards) [the] king
23 Therfor Joab was on al the oost of Israel; forsothe Benanye, sone of Joiada, was on Cerethi and Ferethi;
and Joab to(wards) all [the] army Israel and Benaiah son: child Jehoiada upon ([the] Cherethite *Q(K)*) and upon [the] Pelethite
24 forsothe Adhuram was on tributis; forsothe Josaphat, sone of Achilud, was chaunceler; forsothe Siba was scryueyn;
and Adoram upon [the] taskworker and Jehoshaphat son: child Ahilud [the] to remember
25 forsothe Sadoch and Abiathar weren preestis;
(and Sheva *Q(K)*) secretary and Zadok and Abiathar priest
26 forsothe Hira of Hiarith was preest of Dauid.
and also Ira [the] Jairite to be priest to/for David
