2 Kings 5

1 Naaman, prince of the chyualrye of the kyng of Syrie, was a greet man, and worschipid anentis his lord; for bi hym the Lord yaf helthe to Sirie; sotheli he was a strong man and riche, but leprouse.

നയമാൻ അരാംരാജാവിന്റെ സൈന്യാധിപനായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം മുഖാന്തരം യഹോവ അരാമിനു വിജയം നൽകിയിരുന്നതിനാൽ തന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം മഹാനും ബഹുമാന്യനുമായിത്തീർന്നു. നയമാൻ പരാക്രമശാലിയെങ്കിലും കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയായിരുന്നു.

2 Forsothe theues yede out of Sirie, and ledden prisonere fro the lond of Israel a litil damysele, that was in the seruyce of the wijf of Naaman.

അരാമിൽനിന്നുള്ള കവർച്ചപ്പടകൾ വന്നിരുന്നപ്പോൾ അവർ ഇസ്രായേലിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു ബാലികയെ അടിമയായി പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോയിരുന്നു. അവൾ നയമാന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ പരിചാരികയായിത്തീർന്നു.

3 `Which damysele seide to hir ladi, `Y wolde, that my lord hadde be at the prophete which is in Samarie; sotheli the prophete schulde haue curid hym of the lepre which he hath.

“എന്റെ യജമാനൻ ശമര്യയിലെ പ്രവാചകനെ ഒന്നു ചെന്നു കണ്ടിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ! അദ്ദേഹം യജമാനന്റെ കുഷ്ഠരോഗം സൗഖ്യമാക്കുമായിരുന്നു,” എന്ന് അവൾ തന്റെ യജമാനത്തിയോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

4 Therfor Naaman entride to his lord, and telde to hym, and seide, A damysel of the lond of Israel spak so and so.

നയമാൻ തന്റെ യജമാനനെ സമീപിച്ച് ഇസ്രായേൽക്കാരി പെൺകുട്ടി പറഞ്ഞ വിവരം അറിയിച്ചു.

5 Therfor the kyng of Syrie seide to hym, Go thou, and Y schal sende lettris to the kyng of Israel. And whanne he hadde go forth, and hadde take with hym ten talentis of siluer, and sixe thousynde goldun platis, `ether floreyns, and ten chaungyngis of clothis,

“നീ പോയിവരിക,” അരാംരാജാവ് പറഞ്ഞു. “ഞാൻ ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവിന് ഒരു കത്തു തരാം.” അങ്ങനെ തന്റെ കൈവശം പത്തു താലന്തു വെള്ളിയും ആറായിരം ശേക്കേൽ സ്വർണവും പത്തുകൂട്ടം വസ്ത്രവും എടുത്തുകൊണ്ട് നയമാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

6 he brouyte lettris to the kyng of Israel bi these wordis; Whanne thou hast take this pistle, wite thou, that Y haue sent to thee Naaman, my seruaunt, that thou cure hym of his lepre.

ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനെ ഏൽപ്പിക്കാനായി അരാംരാജാവെഴുതിയ കത്തും അദ്ദേഹം എടുത്തിരുന്നു. “ഈ കത്തുമായി വരുന്ന എന്റെ ഭൃത്യൻ നയമാന്റെ കുഷ്ഠരോഗം അങ്ങു മാറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കാനായി ഞാൻ അയാളെ അയയ്ക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് അതിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

7 And whanne the kyng of Israel hadde red the lettris, he to-rente his clothis, and seide, Whether Y am God, that may sle and quykene, for this kyng sente to me, that Y cure a man of his lepre? Perseyue ye, and se, that he sekith occasiouns ayens me.

ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് ആ കത്തു വായിച്ച ഉടൻ വസ്ത്രംകീറി, “ഞാൻ ദൈവമോ? ജീവൻ എടുക്കാനും കൊടുക്കാനും എനിക്കു കഴിയുമോ? കുഷ്ഠം മാറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നതിനായി ഒരുവനെ എന്റെ അടുത്തേക്ക് എന്തിനാണ് ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്? അയാൾ എന്നോട് ഒരു ശണ്ഠയ്ക്കുള്ള കാരണം തേടുന്നത് ഏതുവിധമെന്നു നോക്കുക!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8 And whanne Elisee, the man of God, hadde herd this, that is, that the kyng of Israel hadde to-rente hise clothis, he sente to the kyng, and seide, Whi to-rentist thou thi clothis? come he to me, and wite he, that a prophete is in Israel.

ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് വസ്ത്രം കീറിയെന്ന് ദൈവപുരുഷനായ എലീശാ കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം രാജാവിന് ഒരു സന്ദേശം കൊടുത്തയച്ചു: “എന്തിന് അങ്ങു സ്വന്തവസ്ത്രം കീറി? ആ മനുഷ്യൻ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരട്ടെ, അപ്പോൾ ഇസ്രായേലിൽ ഒരു പ്രവാചകനുണ്ടെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് മനസ്സിലാകും.”

9 Therfor Naaman cam with horsis and charis, and stood at the dore of the hows of Elisee.

അങ്ങനെ നയമാൻ തന്റെ കുതിരകളും രഥങ്ങളുമായി ചെന്ന് എലീശയുടെ വീടിന്റെ പടിവാതിൽക്കൽ നിന്നു.

10 And Elisee sente to hym a messanger, and seide, Go thou, and be thou waischun seuensithis in Jordan; and thi fleisch shal resseyue helthe, and thou schalt be clensid.

“താങ്കൾ പോയി യോർദാനിൽ ഏഴുപ്രാവശ്യം മുങ്ങുക; അപ്പോൾ താങ്കളുടെ ശരീരം പഴയതുപോലെയായി, താങ്കൾ ശുദ്ധനായിത്തീരും,” എന്നു പറയാൻ എലീശാ ഒരു സന്ദേശവാഹകനെ അയച്ചു.

11 Naaman was wrooth, and yede awei, and seide, Y gesside, that he schulde go out to me, and that he schulde stonde, and clepe the name of `the Lord his God, and that he schulde touche with his hond the place of lepre, and schulde cure me.

പക്ഷേ, നയമാൻ കോപാകുലനായി അവിടെനിന്നു യാത്രയായി. “അദ്ദേഹം ഇറങ്ങിവന്ന് എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നിൽക്കുമെന്നും, തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമം വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കുമെന്നും, കുഷ്ഠം ബാധിച്ച ശരീരഭാഗങ്ങൾക്കുമീതേ കൈവീശി എന്റെ കുഷ്ഠരോഗം സൗഖ്യമാക്കുമെന്നും ഞാൻ വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നു.

12 Whether Abana and Pharphar, floodis of Damask, ben not betere than alle the watris of Israel, that Y be waischun in tho, and be clensid?

ദമസ്കോസിലെ നദികളായ അബാനയും പർപ്പരും ഇസ്രായേലിലുള്ള ഏതു വെള്ളത്തെക്കാളും മെച്ചമായതല്ലേ? എനിക്ക് അവയിൽ കുളിച്ചു ശുദ്ധനായിക്കൂടേ?” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ക്രോധത്തോടെ അദ്ദേഹം സ്ഥലംവിട്ടു.

13 Therfor whanne he hadde turned hym silf, and yede awei, hauynge indignacioun, hise seruauntis neiyiden to hym, and spaken to hym, Fadir, thouy the prophete hadde seid to thee a greet thing, certis thou owist to do; hou myche more for now he seide to thee, Be thou waischun, and thou schalt be clensid.

നയമാന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽച്ചെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “പിതാവേ, പ്രവാചകൻ വലിയൊരുകാര്യം ചെയ്യാൻ അങ്ങയോടു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ അങ്ങ് അതു ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നില്ലേ? കുളിച്ചു ശുദ്ധനാകുക എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറയുമ്പോൾ എത്രയധികം സന്തോഷപൂർവം അതു ചെയ്യേണ്ടതാണ്” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

14 He yede doun, and waischide hym seuensithis in Jordan, bi the word of the man of God; and his fleisch was restored as the fleisch of a litil child, and he was clensid.

അതിനാൽ ദൈവപുരുഷൻ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ അദ്ദേഹം യോർദാനിൽ പോയി ഏഴുപ്രാവശ്യം മുങ്ങി. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശരീരം പൂർവസ്ഥിതിയിലായി; ഒരു ചെറുബാലന്റെ ശരീരംപോലെ അത് ഓജസ്സുള്ളതായി; രോഗവിമുക്തമായിത്തീർന്നു.

15 And he turnede ayen with al his felouschipe to the man of God, and cam, and stood bifor hym; and seide, Verili Y knowe, that noon other God is in al erthe, no but oneli God of Israel; therfor, Y biseche, that thou take blessyng of thi seruaunt.

പിന്നെ നയമാനും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരും ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിവന്നു. നയമാൻ ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെമുമ്പിൽ നിന്നുകൊണ്ട്: “ഇസ്രായേലിൽ അല്ലാതെ ലോകത്തിൽ മറ്റെങ്ങും ഒരു ദൈവമില്ലെന്ന് ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നു. ദയവായി അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസനായ എന്നിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു സമ്മാനം സ്വീകരിക്കണേ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16 And he answeride, The Lord lyueth bifor whom Y stonde, for Y schal not take. And whanne he made `strengthe, that is, greet preier, Elisee assentide not outirli.

“ഞാൻ സേവിച്ചു നിൽക്കുന്ന യഹോവയാണെ, ഞാൻ യാതൊരു സമ്മാനവും വാങ്ങുകയില്ല,” എന്നു പ്രവാചകൻ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു. നയമാൻ വളരെ നിർബന്ധിച്ചിട്ടും അദ്ദേഹം നിരസിക്കുകയാണു ചെയ്തത്.

17 Therfor Naaman seide, As thou wolt; but, I biseche, graunte thou to me, thi seruaunt, that Y take of `the lond the birthun of twei burdones; for thi seruaunt schal no more make brent sacrifice, ether slayn sacrifice, to alien goddis, no but to the Lord.

അപ്പോൾ നയമാൻ പറഞ്ഞു: “അങ്ങ് യാതൊന്നും സ്വീകരിക്കുകയില്ലെങ്കിൽ, രണ്ടു കോവർകഴുതകൾക്കു ചുമക്കാവുന്നത്ര മണ്ണു ദയവായി അടിയനു തരണമേ! അടിയൻ ഇനിമേലാൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരു ദേവനും ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളോ മറ്റു യാഗങ്ങളോ അർപ്പിക്കുകയില്ല.

18 Forsothe this thing is oneli, of which thou schalt preie the Lord for thi seruaunt, whanne my lord shal entre into the temple of Remmon, that he worschipe, and while he `schal lene on myn hond, if Y worschipe in the temple of Remmon, while he worschipith in the same place, that the Lord foryyue to thi seruaunt for this thing.

എന്നാൽ ഈ ഒരു കാര്യത്തിൽ യഹോവ അടിയനോടു ക്ഷമിക്കട്ടെ! എന്റെ യജമാനൻ എന്റെ കൈയിൽ താങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടു രിമ്മോന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുകയും കുമ്പിടുകയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ ഞാനും അവിടെ കുമ്പിടേണ്ടതായിവരുന്നു. അക്കാര്യം യഹോവ അടിയനോടു ക്ഷമിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.”

19 Which Elisee seide to hym, Go thou in pees. `Therfor he yede fro Elisee in a chosun tyme of the lond.

“സമാധാനത്തോടെ പോകുക,” എന്ന് എലീശാ പറഞ്ഞു. നയമാൻ അൽപ്പദൂരം യാത്രയായിക്കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ

20 And Giezi, the child of the man of God, seide, My lord sparide this Naaman of Syrie, that he took not of hym that, that he brouyte; the Lord lyueth, for Y schal renne aftir hym, and Y schal take of hym sum thing.

ദൈവപുരുഷനായ എലീശയുടെ ഭൃത്യൻ ഗേഹസി ചിന്തിച്ചു: “ഈ അരാമ്യനായ നയമാൻ കൊണ്ടുവന്നതൊന്നും വാങ്ങിക്കാതെ എന്റെ യജമാനൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വെറുതേ വിട്ടുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. യഹോവയാണെ, ഞാൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഓടി അദ്ദേഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് എന്തെങ്കിലും വാങ്ങും.”

21 And Giezi suede aftir the bak of Naaman; and whanne Naaman hadde seyn Giezi rennynge to hym, he skippide doun of the chare in to the metyng of Giezi; and seide, Whether alle thingis ben riytfuli?

അങ്ങനെ ഗേഹസി വേഗം നയമാന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു. അവൻ തന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഓടിവരുന്നതു നയമാൻ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം അവനെ എതിരേൽക്കുന്നതിനായി രഥത്തിൽനിന്നിറങ്ങി. “എല്ലാം ശുഭമായിരിക്കുന്നോ,” എന്ന് നയമാൻ ചോദിച്ചു.

22 And he seide, Riytfuli; my lord sente me to thee, and seide, Twey yonge men of the hille of Effraym, of the sones of prophetis, camen now to me; yyue thou to hem a talent of siluer, and double chaungyng clothis.

ഗേഹസി മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “എല്ലാം ശുഭമായിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇതു പറയുന്നതിനായി എന്റെ യജമാനൻ എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു: ‘എഫ്രയീം മലനാട്ടിൽനിന്ന് രണ്ടു പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാർ ഇപ്പോൾ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. അവർക്കുവേണ്ടി ഒരു താലന്തു വെള്ളിയും രണ്ടുകൂട്ടം വസ്ത്രങ്ങളും ദയവായി കൊടുത്താലും!’”

23 And Naaman seide, It is betere that thou take twei talentis. And Naaman constreynede hym; and Naaman boond twei talentis of siluer in twei sackis, and double clothis, and puttide on his twey children, `that is, seruauntis, whiche also baren bifor Giezi.

“തീർച്ചയായും, രണ്ടുതാലന്തു സ്വീകരിച്ചാലും!” എന്നു നയമാൻ പറഞ്ഞു. അത്രയും സ്വീകരിക്കാനായി നയമാൻ ഗേഹസിയെ നിർബന്ധിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹം രണ്ടുകൂട്ടം വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ സഹിതം ആ രണ്ടുതാലന്തു വെള്ളി രണ്ടു സഞ്ചിയിലാക്കിക്കെട്ടി. തന്റെ രണ്ടു ഭൃത്യന്മാരുടെ കൈവശം ഏൽപ്പിച്ചു. അവർ അത് ഗേഹസിക്കു മുമ്പായി ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടുപോയി.

24 And whanne he hadde come thanne in the euentid, he took fro the hond of hem, and leide vp in the hows; and he delyuerede the men, and thei yeden.

മലയിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഗേഹസി ആ സാധനങ്ങൾ അവരിൽനിന്നു വാങ്ങി വീട്ടിൽ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെച്ചശേഷം ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ തിരിച്ചയച്ചു; അവർ പോകുകയും ചെയ്തു.

25 Forsothe Giezi entride, and stood bifor his lord. And Elise seide, Giezi, fro whennus comest thou? Which answeride, Thi seruaunt yede not to ony place.

പിന്നെ ഗേഹസി അകത്തുചെന്ന് തന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു. “ഗേഹസിയേ! നീ എവിടെപ്പോയിരുന്നു?” എലീശാ ചോദിച്ചു. “അടിയൻ എങ്ങും പോയിരുന്നില്ല,” ഗേഹസി മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.

26 And Elise seide, Whether myn herte was not in present, whanne the man turnede ayen fro his chare in to the metyng of thee? Now therfor thou hast take siluer, and thou hast take clothis, that thou bie places of olyues, and vyneris, and scheep, and oxis, and seruauntis, and handmaydis;

എലീശാ അയാളോട്: “ആ മനുഷ്യൻ തന്റെ രഥത്തിൽനിന്നിറങ്ങി നിന്നെ കണ്ടുമുട്ടുമ്പോൾ എന്റെ ആത്മാവ് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ലേ? പണം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നതിനോ വസ്ത്രം, ഒലിവുതോട്ടം, മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പ്, ആടുമാടുകൾ, ദാസീദാസന്മാർ എന്നിവ നേടുന്നതിനോ ഉള്ള സമയം ഇതാണോ?

27 but also the lepre of Naaman schal cleue to thee, and to thi seed withouten ende. And Giezi yede leprouse as snow, `fro hym.

അതിനാൽ നയമാന്റെ കുഷ്ഠം നിനക്കും നിന്റെ സന്തതിപരമ്പരയ്ക്കും വിട്ടൊഴിയാതെ എന്നേക്കും പിടിച്ചിരിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഗേഹസി ഹിമംപോലെ വെളുത്തു കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയായിത്തീർന്നു. അയാൾ എലീശയുടെ സന്നിധി വിട്ടുപോയി.
