2 Kings 5
1 Naaman, prince of the chyualrye of the kyng of Syrie, was a greet man, and worschipid anentis his lord; for bi hym the Lord yaf helthe to Sirie; sotheli he was a strong man and riche, but leprouse.
Or Naaman, Chef de l'armée du Roi de Syrie était un homme puissant auprès de son Seigneur, et il était en grand honneur, parce que l'Eternel avait délivré les Syriens par son moyen, mais cet homme fort et vaillant était lépreux.
2 Forsothe theues yede out of Sirie, and ledden prisonere fro the lond of Israel a litil damysele, that was in the seruyce of the wijf of Naaman.
Et quelques troupes sorties de Syrie, avaient amené prisonnière une petite fille du pays d'Israël, qui servait la femme de Naaman.
3 `Which damysele seide to hir ladi, `Y wolde, that my lord hadde be at the prophete which is in Samarie; sotheli the prophete schulde haue curid hym of the lepre which he hath.
Et elle dit à sa maîtresse; Je souhaiterais que mon Seigneur [se présentât] devant le Prophète qui est en Samarie, il l'aurait aussitôt délivré de sa lèpre.
4 Therfor Naaman entride to his lord, and telde to hym, and seide, A damysel of the lond of Israel spak so and so.
Quelqu'un donc vint et le rapporta à son Seigneur, en disant: La fille qui est du pays d'Israël, a dit telle et telle chose.
5 Therfor the kyng of Syrie seide to hym, Go thou, and Y schal sende lettris to the kyng of Israel. And whanne he hadde go forth, and hadde take with hym ten talentis of siluer, and sixe thousynde goldun platis, `ether floreyns, and ten chaungyngis of clothis,
Et le Roi de Syrie dit [à Naaman]: Va, vas-y, et j'enverrai des Lettres au Roi d'Israël. [Naaman] donc s'en alla, et prit avec soi dix talents d'argent, et six mille pièces d'or, et dix robes de rechange.
6 he brouyte lettris to the kyng of Israel bi these wordis; Whanne thou hast take this pistle, wite thou, that Y haue sent to thee Naaman, my seruaunt, that thou cure hym of his lepre.
Et il apporta au Roi d'Israël des Lettres de telle teneur. Maintenant, dès-que ces Lettres te seront parvenues, sache que je t'ai envoyé Naaman mon serviteur, afin que tu le délivres de sa lèpre.
7 And whanne the kyng of Israel hadde red the lettris, he to-rente his clothis, and seide, Whether Y am God, that may sle and quykene, for this kyng sente to me, that Y cure a man of his lepre? Perseyue ye, and se, that he sekith occasiouns ayens me.
Or, dès que le Roi d'Israël eut lu les Lettres il déchira ses vêtements, et dit: Suis-je Dieu pour faire mourir, et pour rendre la vie, que celui-ci envoie vers moi, pour délivrer un homme de sa lèpre? C'est pourquoi sachez maintenant, et voyez qu'il cherche occasion contre moi.
8 And whanne Elisee, the man of God, hadde herd this, that is, that the kyng of Israel hadde to-rente hise clothis, he sente to the kyng, and seide, Whi to-rentist thou thi clothis? come he to me, and wite he, that a prophete is in Israel.
Mais il arriva que dès qu'Elisée, homme de Dieu, eut appris que le Roi d'Israël avait déchiré ses vêtements, il envoya dire au Roi: Pourquoi as-tu déchiré tes vêtements? Qu'il s'en vienne maintenant vers moi, et qu'il sache qu'il y a un Prophète en Israël.
9 Therfor Naaman cam with horsis and charis, and stood at the dore of the hows of Elisee.
Naaman donc s'en vint avec ses chevaux, et avec son chariot, et il se tint à la porte de la maison d'Elisée.
10 And Elisee sente to hym a messanger, and seide, Go thou, and be thou waischun seuensithis in Jordan; and thi fleisch shal resseyue helthe, and thou schalt be clensid.
Et Elisée envoya un messager vers lui, pour lui dire: Va, et te lave sept fois au Jourdain, et ta chair te reviendra [telle qu'auparavant], et tu seras net.
11 Naaman was wrooth, and yede awei, and seide, Y gesside, that he schulde go out to me, and that he schulde stonde, and clepe the name of `the Lord his God, and that he schulde touche with his hond the place of lepre, and schulde cure me.
Mais Naaman se mit en grande colère, et s'en alla, en disant: Voilà, je pensais en moi-même: Il sortira incontinent, et invoquera le Nom de l'Eternel son Dieu, et il avancera sa main sur l'endroit de la plaie, et délivrera le lépreux,
12 Whether Abana and Pharphar, floodis of Damask, ben not betere than alle the watris of Israel, that Y be waischun in tho, and be clensid?
Abana et Parpar, fleuves de Damas, ne sont-ils pas meilleurs que toutes les eaux d'Israël? ne m'y laverais-je pas bien? mais deviendrais-je net? ainsi donc il s'en retournait, et s'en allait tout en colère.
13 Therfor whanne he hadde turned hym silf, and yede awei, hauynge indignacioun, hise seruauntis neiyiden to hym, and spaken to hym, Fadir, thouy the prophete hadde seid to thee a greet thing, certis thou owist to do; hou myche more for now he seide to thee, Be thou waischun, and thou schalt be clensid.
Mais ses serviteurs s'approchèrent, et lui parlèrent, en disant: Mon père, si le Prophète t'eût dit quelque grande chose, ne l'eusses-tu pas faite? Combien plutôt donc [dois-tu faire] ce qu'il t'a dit: Lave-toi, et tu deviendras net?
14 He yede doun, and waischide hym seuensithis in Jordan, bi the word of the man of God; and his fleisch was restored as the fleisch of a litil child, and he was clensid.
Ainsi il descendit, et se plongea sept fois au Jourdain, suivant la parole de l'homme de Dieu; et sa chair lui revint semblable à la chair d'un petit enfant; et il fut net.
15 And he turnede ayen with al his felouschipe to the man of God, and cam, and stood bifor hym; and seide, Verili Y knowe, that noon other God is in al erthe, no but oneli God of Israel; therfor, Y biseche, that thou take blessyng of thi seruaunt.
Alors il retourna vers l'homme de Dieu, lui et toute sa suite, et il vint se présenter devant lui; et dit: Voici, maintenant je connais qu'il n'[y a] point d'autre Dieu en toute la terre, qu'en Israël. Maintenant donc, je te prie, prends ce présent de ton serviteur.
16 And he answeride, The Lord lyueth bifor whom Y stonde, for Y schal not take. And whanne he made `strengthe, that is, greet preier, Elisee assentide not outirli.
Mais [Elisée] répondit: L'Eternel, en la présence duquel je me tiens, est vivant, que je ne le prendrai point; et quoique [Naaman] le pressât fort de le prendre, [Elisée] le refusa.
17 Therfor Naaman seide, As thou wolt; but, I biseche, graunte thou to me, thi seruaunt, that Y take of `the lond the birthun of twei burdones; for thi seruaunt schal no more make brent sacrifice, ether slayn sacrifice, to alien goddis, no but to the Lord.
Naaman dit: Or je te prie, ne pourrait-on point donner de cette terre à ton serviteur la charge de deux mulets? car ton serviteur ne fera plus d'holocauste ni de sacrifice à d'autres dieux, mais seulement à l'Eternel.
18 Forsothe this thing is oneli, of which thou schalt preie the Lord for thi seruaunt, whanne my lord shal entre into the temple of Remmon, that he worschipe, and while he `schal lene on myn hond, if Y worschipe in the temple of Remmon, while he worschipith in the same place, that the Lord foryyue to thi seruaunt for this thing.
L'Eternel veuille pardonner ceci à ton serviteur; c'est que quand mon maître entrera dans la maison de Rimmon pour se prosterner là et qu'il s'appuiera sur ma main, je me prosternerai dans la maison de Rimmon; l'Eternel, [dis-je], veuille me le pardonner, quand je me prosternerai dans la maison de Rimmon.
19 Which Elisee seide to hym, Go thou in pees. `Therfor he yede fro Elisee in a chosun tyme of the lond.
Et [Elisée] lui dit: Va en paix. Ainsi étant parti d'auprès de lui il marcha environ quelque petit espace de pays.
20 And Giezi, the child of the man of God, seide, My lord sparide this Naaman of Syrie, that he took not of hym that, that he brouyte; the Lord lyueth, for Y schal renne aftir hym, and Y schal take of hym sum thing.
Alors Guéhazi, le serviteur d Elisée homme de Dieu, dit: Voici, mon maître a refusé de prendre de la main de Naaman Syrien aucune chose de tout ce qu'il avait apporté, l'Eternel est vivant, que je courrai après lui, et que je prendrai quelque chose de lui.
21 And Giezi suede aftir the bak of Naaman; and whanne Naaman hadde seyn Giezi rennynge to hym, he skippide doun of the chare in to the metyng of Giezi; and seide, Whether alle thingis ben riytfuli?
Guéhazi donc courut après Naaman; et Naaman le voyant courir après lui, se jeta hors de son chariot au-devant de lui, et [lui] dit: Tout va-t-il bien?
22 And he seide, Riytfuli; my lord sente me to thee, and seide, Twey yonge men of the hille of Effraym, of the sones of prophetis, camen now to me; yyue thou to hem a talent of siluer, and double chaungyng clothis.
Et il répondit: Tout va bien. Mon maître m'a envoyé pour te dire: Voici, à cette heure deux jeunes hommes de la montagne d'Ephraïm sont venus vers moi, qui sont des fils des Prophètes; je te prie donne-leur un talent d'argent; et deux robes de rechange.
23 And Naaman seide, It is betere that thou take twei talentis. And Naaman constreynede hym; and Naaman boond twei talentis of siluer in twei sackis, and double clothis, and puttide on his twey children, `that is, seruauntis, whiche also baren bifor Giezi.
Et Naaman dit: Prends hardiment deux talents; et il le pressa tant qu'on lia deux talents d'argent dans deux sacs; [il lui donna] aussi deux robes de rechange; et il les donna à deux de ses serviteurs qui les portèrent devant lui.
24 And whanne he hadde come thanne in the euentid, he took fro the hond of hem, and leide vp in the hows; and he delyuerede the men, and thei yeden.
Et quand il fut venu en un lieu secret, il le prit d'entre leurs mains, et le serra dans une maison, après quoi il renvoya ces gens-là, et ils s'en retournèrent.
25 Forsothe Giezi entride, and stood bifor his lord. And Elise seide, Giezi, fro whennus comest thou? Which answeride, Thi seruaunt yede not to ony place.
Puis il entra, et se présenta devant son maître. Et Elisée lui dit: D'où viens-tu, Guéhazi? Et il lui répondit: Ton serviteur n'a été nulle part.
26 And Elise seide, Whether myn herte was not in present, whanne the man turnede ayen fro his chare in to the metyng of thee? Now therfor thou hast take siluer, and thou hast take clothis, that thou bie places of olyues, and vyneris, and scheep, and oxis, and seruauntis, and handmaydis;
Mais [Elisée] lui dit: Mon cœur n'est-il pas allé là, quand l'homme s'est retourné de dessus son chariot au-devant de toi? Est-ce le temps de prendre de l'argent, et de prendre des vêtements, des oliviers, des vignes, du menu et du gros bétail, des serviteurs et des servantes?
27 but also the lepre of Naaman schal cleue to thee, and to thi seed withouten ende. And Giezi yede leprouse as snow, `fro hym.
C'est pourquoi là lèpre de Naaman s'attachera à toi, et à ta postérité à jamais. Et [Guéhazi] sortit de devant [Elisée blanc] de lèpre comme de la neige.
