2 Kings 23
1 And thei telden to the kyng that, that sche seide; `which kyng sente, and alle the elde men of Juda, and of Jerusalem, weren gaderid to hym.
Le roi envoya, et l'on rassembla auprès de lui tous les anciens de Juda et de Jérusalem.
2 And the kyng stiede in to the temple of the Lord, and alle the men of Juda, and alle men that dwelliden in Jerusalem with hym, the preestis, and the prophetis, and al the puple, fro litil `til to greet; and he redde, while alle men herden, alle the wordis of the book of boond of pees of the Lord, which book was foundun in the hows of the Lord.
Le roi monta à la maison de l'Éternel, avec tous les hommes de Juda et tous les habitants de Jérusalem, les prêtres, les prophètes et tout le peuple, petits et grands, et il lut devant eux toutes les paroles du livre de l'alliance qui se trouvait dans la maison de l'Éternel.
3 And the kyng stood on the grees; and he smoot boond of pees bifor the Lord, that thei schulden go aftir the Lord, and kepe hise comaundementis and witnessyngis and cerymonyes in al the herte and in al the soule, that thei schulden reise the wordis of this boond of pees, that weren writun in that book; and the puple assentide to the couenaunt.
Le roi se tint debout près de la colonne et fit alliance devant l'Éternel de marcher après l'Éternel et d'observer ses commandements, ses témoignages et ses lois, de tout son cœur et de toute son âme, afin de confirmer les paroles de cette alliance qui sont écrites dans ce livre.
4 And the kyng comaundide to Helchie, the bischop, and to the preestis of the secounde ordre, and to the porteris, that thei schulden caste out of the temple alle the vesselis, that weren maad to Baal, and in the wode, and to al the knyythod of heuene; and he brente tho vessels with out Jerusalem, in the euene valey of Cedron, and he bar the poudir of tho `vessels in to Bethel.
Le roi ordonna à Hilkija, le grand prêtre, aux prêtres du second ordre et aux gardiens du seuil de sortir du temple de Yahvé tous les ustensiles qui avaient été fabriqués pour Baal, pour l'ashère et pour toute l'armée du ciel; il les brûla hors de Jérusalem, dans les champs du Cédron, et porta leurs cendres à Béthel.
5 And he dide awei false dyuynours `that dyuynyden in the entrailis of beestis sacrified to idols, whiche the kingis of Juda hadden sett to make sacrifice in hiy thingis bi the citees of Juda, and in the cumpas of Jerusalem; and he dide awey hem that brenten encense to Baal, and to the sunne, and to the moone, and to twelue signes, and to al the knyythod of heuene.
Il se débarrassa des prêtres idolâtres que les rois de Juda avaient chargés d'offrir des parfums sur les hauts lieux des villes de Juda et des environs de Jérusalem, et qui offraient des parfums à Baal, au soleil, à la lune, aux planètes et à toute l'armée du ciel.
6 And he made the wode to be borun out of the hows of the Lord without Jerusalem in the euene valey of Cedron, and he brente it there; and he droof it in to poudir, and castide it forth on the sepulcris of the comyn puple.
Il fit sortir l'ashère de la maison de Yahvé, hors de Jérusalem, jusqu'au torrent de Cédron, et la brûla au torrent de Cédron; il la réduisit en poussière et en jeta la poussière sur les tombes des gens du peuple.
7 Also he distriede the litle housis of `men turnyd into wommens condiciouns, whiche housis weren in the hows of the Lord; for whiche the wymmen `maden as litil howsis of the wode.
Il démolit les maisons des prostituées qui se trouvaient dans la maison de l'Éternel, où les femmes tissaient des tentures pour les ashères.
8 And he gaderide alle the preestis fro the citees of Juda, and he defoulide the hiye thingis, where the preestis maden sacrifice, fro Gabaa `til to Bersabee; and he distriede the auters of yatis in the entryng of the dore of Josie, prince of a citee, which dore was at the lift half of the yate of the cytee.
Il fit sortir tous les prêtres des villes de Juda et souilla les hauts lieux où les prêtres avaient brûlé de l'encens, depuis Guéba jusqu'à Beersheba; il brisa les hauts lieux des portes qui étaient à l'entrée de la porte de Josué, gouverneur de la ville, et qui se trouvaient à la gauche d'un homme, à la porte de la ville.
9 Netheles the preestis of hiye thingis stieden not to the auter of the Lord in Jerusalem, but oneli thei eten therf looues in the myddis of her britheren.
Cependant, les prêtres des hauts lieux ne montaient pas à l'autel de Yahvé à Jérusalem, mais ils mangeaient des pains sans levain parmi leurs frères.
10 Also he defoulide Tophet, which is in the euene valey of the sone of Ennon, that no man schulde halewe his sone ether his douytir bi fier to Moloch.
Il souilla Topheth, qui est dans la vallée des enfants de Hinnom, afin que personne ne fasse passer son fils ou sa fille par le feu pour Moloc.
11 Also he dide awei horsis, whiche the kyngis of Juda hadden youe to the sunne, in the entryng of the temple of the Lord, bisidis the chaumbir of Nathanmalech, geldyng, that was in Pharurym; forsothe he brente bi fier the charis of the sunne.
Il enleva les chevaux que les rois de Juda avaient consacrés au soleil, à l'entrée de la maison de l'Éternel, près de la chambre de Nathan Melech, l'officier qui était à la cour, et il brûla au feu les chars du soleil.
12 Also the kyng distriede the auteris, that weren on the roouys of the soler of Achaz, whiche auteris the kyngis of Juda hadden maad; and the kyng distriede the auteris, whiche Manasses hadde maad in the twei grete placis of the temple of the Lord; and he ran fro thennus, and scateride the askis of tho in to the strond of Cedron.
Le roi démolit les autels qui étaient sur le toit de la chambre haute d'Achaz, et que les rois de Juda avaient faits, et les autels que Manassé avait faits dans les deux cours de la maison de l'Éternel; il les abattit de là, et jeta leur poussière dans le torrent de Cédron.
13 Also the kyng defoulide the hiye thingis, that weren in Jerusalem at the riyt part of the hil of offencioun, whiche Salomon, kyng of Israel, hadde bildid to Astroth, the ydol of Sidoneis, and to Chamos, the offencioun of Moab, and to Melchon, abhominacioun of the sones of Amon;
Le roi souilla les hauts lieux qui étaient devant Jérusalem, à droite de la montagne de la corruption, et que Salomon, roi d'Israël, avait bâtis pour Astarté, l'abomination des Sidoniens, pour Kemosh, l'abomination de Moab, et pour Milcom, l'abomination des enfants d'Ammon.
14 and he al to-brak ymagis, and kittide doun wodis, and fillide the places of tho with the boonys of deed men.
Il brisa les piliers, abattit les mâts d'ashère et remplit leurs places d'ossements d'hommes.
15 Ferthermore also he distriede the auter that was in Bethel, and `he distriede the hiye thing, which Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, hadde maad, that made Israel to do synne; and he distriede that hiy autir, and brente it, and al to brak it in to poudir, and kittide doun also the wode.
Il démolit l'autel qui était à Béthel et le haut lieu qu'avait fait Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui avait fait pécher Israël; il brûla le haut lieu, le réduisit en poussière, et brûla l'Astre.
16 And Josias turnyde, and siy there sepulcris that weren in the hil; and he sente, and took the boonys fro the sepulcris, and brente tho on the auter, and defoulide it bi the word of the Lord, which word the man of God spak, that biforseide these wordis.
Comme Josias se retournait, il aperçut les sépulcres qui étaient là dans la montagne; il envoya prendre les ossements dans les sépulcres, les brûla sur l'autel et le souilla, selon la parole de l'Éternel qu'avait proclamée l'homme de Dieu qui annonçait ces choses.
17 And the kyng seide, What is this biriel, which Y se? And the citeseyns of that citee answeriden to hym, It is the sepulcre of the man of God, that cam fro Juda, and biforseide these wordis, whiche thou hast doon on the auter of Bethel.
Alors il dit: « Quel est ce monument que je vois? » Les hommes de la ville lui dirent: « C'est le tombeau de l'homme de Dieu qui est venu de Juda et qui a proclamé ces choses que tu as faites contre l'autel de Béthel. »
18 And the kyng seide, Suffre ye hym; no man moue hise boonys. And hise boonys dwelliden vntouchid with the boones of the prophete, that cam fro Samarie.
Il dit: « Qu'il soit! Que personne ne déplace ses os. » On laissa donc ses os, avec les os du prophète qui était venu de Samarie.
19 Ferthermore also Josias dide awei alle the templis of hiye thingis, that weren in the citees of Samarie, whiche the kyngis of Israel hadden maad to terre the Lord to ire; and he dide to tho templis bi alle thingis whiche he hadde do in Bethel.
Josias fit disparaître toutes les maisons des hauts lieux qui se trouvaient dans les villes de Samarie et que les rois d'Israël avaient construites pour irriter Yahvé, et il les traita comme il l'avait fait à Béthel.
20 And he killide alle the preestis of hiye thingis, that weren there on the auteris, and he brente mennus boonus on tho auteris; and he turnede ayen to Jerusalem;
Il tua tous les prêtres des hauts lieux qui se trouvaient là, sur les autels, et il y brûla des ossements d'hommes, puis il retourna à Jérusalem.
21 and comaundide to al the puple, and seide, Make ye pask to `youre Lord God, vp that, that is writun in the book of this boond of pees.
Le roi donna cet ordre à tout le peuple: « Fêtez la Pâque en l'honneur de Yahvé, votre Dieu, comme il est écrit dans ce livre de l'alliance. »
22 Forsothe sich pask was not maad, fro the daies of iugis that demyden Israel, and of alle daies of the kyngis of Israel and of Juda,
Certes, on n'a pas célébré une telle Pâque depuis l'époque des juges qui ont jugé Israël, ni pendant toute la durée des rois d'Israël et des rois de Juda;
23 as this pask was maad to the Lord in Jerusalem in the eiytenthe yeer of kyng Josias.
mais la dix-huitième année du roi Josias, cette Pâque fut célébrée en l'honneur de Yahvé à Jérusalem.
24 But also Josias dide awei men hauynge fendis spekinge in her wombis, and false diuinouris in auteris, and `he dide awei the figuris of idols, and alle vnclennessis, and abhomynaciouns, that weren in the lond of Juda and in Jerusalem, that he schulde do the wordis of the lawe, that weren writun in the book, `which book Elchie, the preest, foond in the temple of the Lord.
Josias fit disparaître les esprits familiers, les sorciers, les théraphim, les idoles et toutes les abominations qu'on voyait dans le pays de Juda et à Jérusalem, afin de confirmer les paroles de la loi qui étaient écrites dans le livre que le prêtre Hilkija avait trouvé dans la maison de l'Éternel.
25 No kyng bifor him was lijk hym, `that turnede ayen to the Lord in al his herte, and in al his soule, and in al his vertu, bi al the lawe of Moises; nether aftir hym roos ony lijk hym.
Il n'y a pas eu de roi comme lui avant lui, qui se soit tourné vers l'Éternel de tout son cœur, de toute son âme et de toute sa force, selon toute la loi de Moïse, et il n'y en a pas eu comme lui qui se soit levé après lui.
26 Netheles the Lord was not turned awei fro the ire of his greet veniaunce, bi which his strong veniaunce was wrooth ayens Juda, for the terryngis to ire by whiche Manasses hadde terrid hym to ire.
Cependant, l'Éternel ne se détourna pas de l'ardeur de son grand courroux, avec lequel sa colère brûlait contre Juda, à cause de toutes les provocations que Manassé lui avait faites.
27 Therfor the Lord seide, Y schal do awei also Juda fro my face, as Y dide awei Israel; and Y schal caste awei this citee, which Y chees, Jerusalem, and the hows `of which Y seide, My name schal be there.
L'Éternel dit: « J'éloignerai aussi Juda de ma vue, comme j'ai éloigné Israël, et je rejetterai cette ville que j'ai choisie, Jérusalem, et la maison dont j'ai dit: 'Mon nom y sera'. »
28 Forsothe the residue of wordis of Josias, and alle thingis whiche he dide, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Juda?
Le reste des actes de Josias, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?
29 In the daies of hym Farao Nechao, kyng of Egipt, stiede ayens the kyng of Assiriens, to the flood Eufrates; and Josias, kyng of Juda, yede in to metyng of hym, and Josias was slayn in Magedo, whanne he hadde seyn hym.
De son temps, Pharaon Necoh, roi d'Égypte, monta contre le roi d'Assyrie jusqu'au fleuve Euphrate. Le roi Josias marcha contre lui, mais Pharaon Necoh le tua à Megiddo quand il le vit.
30 And `hise seruauntis baren hym deed fro Magedo, and brouyte him in to Jerusalem, and birieden hym in his sepulcre; and the puple of the lond took Joachaz, sone of Josias, and anoyntiden hym, and maden hym kyng for his fadir.
Ses serviteurs le transportèrent mort dans un char depuis Megiddo, l'amenèrent à Jérusalem et l'enterrèrent dans son propre tombeau. Le peuple du pays prit Joachaz, fils de Josias, l'oignit et l'établit roi à la place de son père.
31 Joachaz was of thre and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede thre monethis in Jerusalem; the name of his modir was Amychal, douyter of Jeremye of Lobna.
Joachaz avait vingt-trois ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna trois mois à Jérusalem. Le nom de sa mère était Hamutal, fille de Jérémie, de Libna.
32 And he dide yuel bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis which hise fadris hadden do.
Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahvé, selon tout ce qu'avaient fait ses pères.
33 And Farao Nechao boond hym in Reblatha, which is in the lond of Emath, that he schulde not regne in Jerusalem; and he settide `peyne, ether raunsum, to the lond, in an hundrid talentis of siluer, and in a talent of gold.
Pharaon Néco le mit en prison à Ribla, dans le pays de Hamath, pour qu'il ne règne pas à Jérusalem, et il imposa au pays un tribut de cent talents d'argent et un talent d'or.
34 And Farao Nechao made kyng Eliachim, sone of Josias, for Josias, his fadir; and he turnede the name of hym Joachym; forsothe Farao took Joachaz, and ledde hym in to Egipt.
Le pharaon Néco établit roi Eliakim, fils de Josias, à la place de Josias, son père, et changea son nom en Jojakim; mais il emmena Joachaz, qui vint en Égypte et y mourut.
35 Sotheli Joachym yaf siluer and gold to Farao, whanne he hadde comaundid to the lond bi alle yeeris, that it schulde be brouyt, bi the comaundement of Farao; and he reiside of ech man bi hise myytis bothe siluer and gold, of the puple of the lond, that he schulde yyue to Pharao Nechao.
Jojakim donna l'argent et l'or à Pharaon; mais il imposa le pays pour donner l'argent selon l'ordre de Pharaon. Il exigea l'argent et l'or des habitants du pays, de chacun selon son évaluation, pour les donner à Pharaon Néco.
36 Joachym was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede eleuene yeer in Jerusalem; the name of his modir was Zebida, douyter of Phadaia of Ruma.
Jojakim avait vingt-cinq ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Zebidah, fille de Pedaja, de Ruma.
37 And he dide yuel bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis which hise fadris hadden do.
Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahvé, selon tout ce qu'avaient fait ses pères.
