2 Kings 22
1 Josias was of eiyte yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnyde oon and thritti yeer in Jerusalem; the name of his modir was Ydida, the douytir of Phadaia of Besechath.
Josias était âgé de huit ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna trente et un ans à Jérusalem; sa mère avait nom Jédida, fille de Hadaja de Botskath.
2 And he dide that, that was plesaunt bifor the Lord, and he yede be alle the wayes of Dauid, his fadir; he bowide not, nethir to the riytside, nethir of the leftside.
Il fit ce qui est droit devant l'Eternel, et marcha dans toute la voie de David son père, et ne s'en détourna ni à droite ni à gauche.
3 Forsothe in the eiytenthe yeer of kyng Josias, the kyng sente Saphan, sone of Asua, the sone of Mesulam, scryueyn, ethir doctour, of the temple of the Lord,
Or il arriva la dix-huitième année du Roi Josias, que le Roi envoya dans la maison de l'Eternel, Saphan, fils d'Atsalia, fils de Mésullam, le Secrétaire, en lui disant:
4 and seide to him, Go thou to Elchie, the grete preest, that the money, which is borun in to the temple of the Lord, be spendid, which money the porteris of the temple han gaderid of the puple;
Monte vers Hilkija le grand Sacrificateur, et dis-lui de lever la somme de l'argent qu'on apporte dans la maison de l'Eternel, et que ceux qui gardent les vaisseaux ont recueilli du peuple.
5 and that it be youun to crafti men bi the souereyns of the hows of the Lord; which also departide that money to hem that worchen in the temple of the Lord, to reparele the rooues of the temple of the Lord,
Et qu'on le délivre entre les mains de ceux qui ont la charge de l'œuvre, et qui sont commis sur la maison de l'Eternel, qu'on le délivre, dis-je, à ceux qui ont la charge de l'œuvre qui se fait dans la maison de l'Eternel, pour réparer ce qui est à réparer au Temple;
6 that is, to carpenteris, and to masouns, and to hem that maken brokun thingis, and that trees and stoonus of quarieris be bouyt, to reparele the temple of the Lord;
[Savoir] aux charpentiers, aux architectes, et aux maçons, et afin d'acheter du bois et des pierres de taille pour réparer le Temple.
7 netheles siluer, which thei taken, be not rekynyd to hem, but haue thei in power, and in feith.
Mais qu'on ne leur fasse pas rendre compte de l'argent qu'on leur délivre entre les mains, parce qu'ils s'y portent fidèlement.
8 Forsothe Helchie, the bischop, seide to Saphan, the scryuen, Y haue founde the book of the lawe in the hows of the Lord. And Elchie yaf the book to Saphan, the scryuen, which also redde it.
Alors Hilkija le grand Sacrificateur, dit à Saphan le Secrétaire: J'ai trouvé le Livre de la Loi dans la maison de l'Eternel; et Hilkija donna ce livre à Saphan, qui le lut.
9 Also Saphan, the scryuen, cam to the kyng, and telde to hym tho thingis, whiche Elchie hadde comaundid, and he seide, Thi seruauntis han spendid the monei, which was foundun in the hows of the Lord, and yauen, that it schulde be departid to crafti men of the souereyns of werkis of the temple of the Lord.
Et Saphan le Secrétaire s'en vint au Roi, et rapporta la chose au Roi, et dit: Tes serviteurs ont amassé l'argent qui a été trouvé dans le Temple, et l'ont délivré entre les mains de ceux qui ont la charge de l'œuvre, [et] qui sont commis sur la maison de l'Eternel.
10 Also Saphan, the scriueyn, telde to the kyng, and seide, Helchie, the preest of God, yaf to me a book; and whanne Saphan hadde red that book bifor the kyng,
Saphan le secrétaire fit aussi entendre au Roi, en disant: Hilkija le Sacrificateur m'a donné un Livre; et Saphan le lut devant le Roi.
11 and the kyng hadde herd the wordis of the book of the lawe of the Lord, he to-rente hise clothis.
Et il arriva qu'aussitôt que le Roi eut entendu les paroles du Livre de la Loi, il déchira ses vêtements.
12 And he comaundide to Elchie, the preest, and to Aicham, sone of Saphan, and to Achabor, sone of Mycha, and to Saphan, the scryuen, and to Achia, seruaunt of the kyng,
Et il commanda au Sacrificateur Hilkija, et à Ahikam fils de Saphan, et à Hacbor fils de Micaja, et à Saphan le Secrétaire, et à Hasaja serviteur du Roi, en disant:
13 and seide, Go ye, and `counsele ye the Lord on me, and on the puple, and on al Juda, of the wordis of this book, which is foundun; for greet ire of the Lord is kyndlid ayens vs, for oure fadris herden not the wordis of this book, to do al thing which is writun to vs.
Allez, consultez l'Eternel pour moi, et pour le peuple, et pour tout Juda, touchant les paroles de ce Livre qui a été trouvé; car la colère de l'Eternel qui s'est allumée contre nous, est grande, parce que nos pères n'ont point obéi aux paroles de ce Livre, pour faire tout ce qui nous y est prescrit.
14 Therfor Helchie, the preest, and Aicham, and Achabor, and Saphan, and Asia, yeden to Olda, the prophetesse, the wijf of Sellum, sone of Thecue, sone of Aras, kepere of the clothis, which Olda dwellide in Jerusalem, in the secounde dwellyng; and thei spaken to hir.
Hilkija donc le Sacrificateur, et Ahikam, et Hacbor, et Saphan, et Hasaja s'en allèrent vers Hulda la prophétesse, femme de Sallum fils de Tikva, fils de Harhas, gardien des vêtements, laquelle demeurait à Jérusalem au collège, et ils parlèrent avec elle.
15 And sche answeride to hem, The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, Seie ye to the man,
Et elle leur répondit: Ainsi a dit l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël: Dites à l'homme qui vous a envoyés vers moi;
16 that sente you to me, The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal brynge yuelis on this place, and on the dwelleris therof, alle the wordis `of the lawe, whiche the kyng of Juda redde;
Ainsi a dit l'Eternel: Voici je m'en vais faire venir du mal sur ce lieu-ci, et sur ses habitants, selon toutes les paroles du Livre que le Roi de Juda a lu;
17 for thei forsoken me, and maden sacrifice to alien goddis, and terriden me to ire in alle the werkis of her hondis; and myn indignacioun schal be kyndlid in this place, and schal not be quenchid.
Parce qu'ils m'ont abandonné, et qu'ils ont fait des encensements aux autres dieux, pour m'irriter par toutes les actions de leurs mains, ma colère s'est allumée contre ce lieu, et elle ne sera point éteinte.
18 Sotheli to the kyng of Juda, that sente you, that ye schulen `counsele the Lord, ye schulen seie thus, The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, For thou herdist the wordis of the book,
Mais quant au Roi de Juda qui vous a envoyés pour consulter l'Eternel; vous lui direz: Ainsi a dit l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël, touchant les paroles que tu as entendues;
19 and thin herte was aferd, and thou were maad meke bifor the Lord, whanne the wordis weren herd ayens this place and ayens the dwelleris therof, that is, that thei schulden be maad in to wondryng, and in to cursyng, and thou to-rentist thi clothis, and weptist bifor me, and Y herde, seith the Lord;
Parce que ton cœur s'est amolli, et que tu t'es humilié devant l'Eternel, quand tu as entendu ce que j'ai prononcé contre ce lieu-ci, et contre ses habitants, qu'ils seraient en désolation et en malédiction, parce que tu as déchiré tes vêtements, et que tu as pleuré devant moi, je t'ai exaucé, dit l'Eternel.
20 herfor Y schal gadere thee to thi fadris, and thou schalt be gaderid to thi sepulcre in pees; that thin iyen se not alle the yuelis, whiche Y schal brynge yn on this place.
C'est pourquoi voici, je vais te retirer avec tes pères, et tu seras retiré dans tes sépulcres en paix, et tes yeux ne verront point tout ce mal que je m'en vais faire venir sur ce lieu. Et ils rapportèrent toutes ces choses au Roi.
