2 Kings 18

1 In the thridde yeer of Osee, sone of Hela, kyng of Israel, regnyde Ezechie, sone of Achaz, kyng of Juda.

and to be in/on/with year three to/for Hoshea son: child Elah king Israel to reign Hezekiah son: child Ahaz king Judah

2 He was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnyde in Jerusalem nyne and twenti yeer; the name of his modir was Abisa, douyter of Zacharie.

son: aged twenty and five year to be in/on/with to reign he and twenty and nine year to reign in/on/with Jerusalem and name mother his Abi daughter Zechariah

3 And he dide that, that was good bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis, which Dauid, his fadir, hadde do.

and to make: do [the] upright in/on/with eye: appearance LORD like/as all which to make: do David father his

4 And he distriede hiye places, and al to-brak ymagis, and kittide doun wodis, and he brak the brasun serpent, whom Moyses hadde maad; for `til to that tyme the sones of Israel brenten encense to it; and he clepide the name therof Noestam.

5 And he hopide in the Lord God of Israel; therfor aftir hym noon was lijk hym of alle the kyngis of Juda, but `and nether in tho kyngis that weren bifor hym.

6 And he cleuyde to the Lord, and yede not awei fro hise steppis, and he dide the comaundementis of the Lord, whiche the Lord comaundide to Moises;

and to cleave in/on/with LORD not to turn aside: depart from after him and to keep: obey commandment his which to command LORD [obj] Moses

7 wherfor and the Lord was with hym, and he gouernede wiseli hym silf in alle thingis, to whiche he yede forth. Also he rebellide ayens the kyng of Assiriens, and therfor he seruede not to `that kyng of Asseriens;

and to be LORD with him in/on/with all which to come out: come be prudent and to rebel in/on/with king Assyria and not to serve him

8 and he smoot Philisteis `til to Gazam, and alle the termes of hem, fro the tour of keperis `til to a citee maad strong.

he/she/it to smite [obj] Philistine till Gaza and [obj] border: area her from tower to watch till city fortification

9 In the fourthe yeer of kyng Ezechie, that was the seuenthe yeer of Osee, sone of Hela, kyng of Israel, Salmanazar, kyng of Assiriens, stiede to Samarie,

and to be in/on/with year [the] fourth to/for king Hezekiah he/she/it [the] year [the] seventh to/for Hoshea son: child Elah king Israel to ascend: rise Shalmaneser king Assyria upon Samaria and to confine upon her

10 and fauyt ayens it, and took it. For after thre yeer, in the sixte yeer of Ezechie, that is, in the nynthe yeer of Osee, kyng of Israel, Samarie was takun;

and to capture her from end three year in/on/with year six to/for Hezekiah he/she/it year nine to/for Hoshea king Israel to capture Samaria

11 and the kyng of Assiriens translatide Israel in to Assiriens, and settyde hem in Haila, and in Habor, ryueris of Gozam, in the citees of Medeis;

and to reveal: remove king Assyria [obj] Israel Assyria [to] and to lead them in/on/with Halah and in/on/with Habor river Gozan and city Mede

12 for thei herden not the vois of her Lord God, but thei braken his couenaunt; thei herden not, nether diden alle thingis, whiche Moises, the seruaunt of the Lord, comaundide.

upon which not to hear: obey in/on/with voice LORD God their and to pass: trespass [obj] covenant his [obj] all which to command Moses servant/slave LORD and not to hear: hear and not to make: do

13 In the fourtenthe yeer of kyng Ezechie, Senacherub, kyng of Assiryens, stiede to alle the strengthide citees of Juda, and took tho.

and in/on/with four ten year to/for king Hezekiah to ascend: rise Sennacherib king Assyria upon all city Judah [the] to gather/restrain/fortify and to capture them

14 Thanne Ezechie, kyng of Juda, sente messangeris to the kyng of Assiriens in to Lachis, and seide, Y haue synned; go awei fro me, and Y schal bere `al thing, which thou schalt putte to me. Therfor the kyng of Asseriens puttide on Ezechie, kyng of Juda, thre hundrid talentis of siluer, and thretti talentis of gold.

and to send: depart Hezekiah king Judah to(wards) king Assyria Lachish [to] to/for to say to sin to return: turn back from upon me [obj] which to give: pay upon me to lift: guilt and to set: take king Assyria upon Hezekiah king Judah three hundred talent silver: money and thirty talent gold

15 And Ezechie yaf al the siluer, that was foundun in the hows of the Lord, and in the kyngis tresories.

and to give: give Hezekiah [obj] all [the] silver: money [the] to find house: temple LORD and in/on/with treasure house: home [the] king

16 In that tyme Ezechie brak the yatis of the temple of the Lord, and the platis of gold, whiche he hadde fastned, and he yaf tho to the kyng of Assiriens.

in/on/with time [the] he/she/it to cut Hezekiah [obj] door temple LORD and [obj] [the] pillar which to overlay Hezekiah king Judah and to give: give them to/for king Assyria

17 Forsothe the kyng of Assiriens sente Thercha and Rabsaces fro Lachis to kyng Ezechie, with strong hond to Jerusalem; and whanne thei hadden stied, thei camen to Jerusalem, and stoden bisidis the water cundijt of the hiyere cisterne, which is in the weie of the fullere, `ethir toukere.

and to send: depart king Assyria [obj] Tartan and [obj] Rab-saris Rab-saris and [obj] Rabshakeh Rabshakeh from Lachish to(wards) [the] king Hezekiah in/on/with strength: soldiers heavy Jerusalem and to ascend: rise and to come (in): come Jerusalem and to ascend: rise and to come (in): come and to stand: stand in/on/with conduit [the] pool [the] high which in/on/with highway Field (of the Launderer) Washer's

18 And thei clepiden the kyng; sotheli Eliachym, sone of Elchie, the souereyn of the hows, and Sobna, scryueyn, and Joahe, chaunseler, the sone of Asaph, yeden out to hem.

and to call: call to to(wards) [the] king and to come out: come to(wards) them Eliakim son: child Hilkiah which upon [the] house: temple and Shebna [the] secretary and Joah son: child Asaph [the] to remember

19 And Rabsaces seide to hem, Speke ye to Ezechie, The grete kyng, the kyng of Assiriens, seith these thingis, What is this trist, in which thou enforsist?

and to say to(wards) them Rabshakeh Rabshakeh to say please to(wards) Hezekiah thus to say [the] king [the] great: large king Assyria what? [the] trust [the] this which to trust

20 In hap thou hast take counsel, that thou woldist make thee redi to batel. In whom tristist thou, that thou be hardi to rebelle?

to say surely word lip: words counsel and might to/for battle now upon who? to trust for to rebel in/on/with me

21 Whethir thou hopist in a `staf of rehed and brokun, Egipt, on which, if a man lenith, it schal be brokun, and schal entre in to hys hond, and schal peerse it? So is Farao, kyng of Egipt, to alle men that tristen on hym.

now behold to trust to/for you upon staff [the] branch: stem [the] to crush [the] this upon Egypt which to support man: anyone upon him and to come (in): come in/on/with palm his and to pierce her so Pharaoh king Egypt to/for all [the] to trust upon him

22 That if thou seist to me, We han trist in `oure Lord God; whether this is not he, whos hiye thingis and auteris Ezechie took awei, and comaundide to Juda and to Jerusalem, Ye schulen worschipe bifor this auter in Jerusalem?

and for to say [emph?] to(wards) me to(wards) LORD God our to trust not he/she/it which to turn aside: remove Hezekiah [obj] high place his and [obj] altar his and to say to/for Judah and to/for Jerusalem to/for face: before [the] altar [the] this to bow in/on/with Jerusalem

23 Now therfor passe ye to my lord, the kyng of Assiriens, and Y schal yyue to you twei thousynde of horsis, and se ye, whether ye moun haue rideris of `tho horsis?

and now to pledge please with lord my with king Assyria and to give: give to/for you thousand horse if be able to/for to give: put to/for you to ride upon them

24 And hou moun ye withstonde bifor o prince of the leste seruauntis of my lord? Whether thou hast trist in Egipt, for charis and knyytis?

and how? to return: turn back [obj] face governor one servant/slave lord my [the] small and to trust to/for you upon Egypt to/for chariot and to/for horseman

25 Whether Y stiede with outen `Goddis wille to this place, that Y schulde distrie it? `The Lord seide to me, `Stie thou to this lond, and distrie thou it.

now from beside LORD to ascend: rise upon [the] place [the] this to/for to ruin him LORD to say to(wards) me to ascend: rise upon [the] land: country/planet [the] this and to ruin her

26 Forsothe Eliachym, sone of Elchie, and Sobna, and Joahe, seiden to Rabsaces, We preien, that thou speke bi the langage of Sirie to vs, thi seruauntis; for we vndirstondun this langage; and that thou speke not to vs bi the langage of Juwis, while the puple herith, which is on the wal.

and to say Eliakim son: child Hilkiah and Shebna and Joah to(wards) Rabshakeh Rabshakeh to speak: speak please to(wards) servant/slave your Aramaic for to hear: understand we and not to speak: speak with us Judahite in/on/with ear: hearing [the] people which upon [the] wall

27 And Rabsaces answeride, `and seide, Whethir my lord sente me to thi lord and to thee, that Y schulde speke these wordis, and not rather to the men `that sitten on the wal, that thei ete her toordis, and drynke her pisse with you?

and to say to(wards) them Rabshakeh Rabshakeh upon lord your and to(wards) you to send: depart me lord my to/for to speak: speak [obj] [the] word [the] these not upon [the] human [the] to dwell upon [the] wall to/for to eat [obj] (filth their *Q(K)*) and to/for to drink [obj] (water foot their *Q(K)*) with you

28 Therfor Rabsaces stood, and criede with greet vois bi langage of Jewis, and seide, Here ye the wordis of the greet kyng, the kyng of Assiriens.

and to stand: stand Rabshakeh Rabshakeh and to call: call out in/on/with voice great: large Judahite and to speak: speak and to say to hear: hear word [the] king [the] great: large king Assyria

29 The kyng seith these thingis, Ezechie disceyue not you, for he may not delyuere you fro myn hond;

thus to say [the] king not to deceive to/for you Hezekiah for not be able to/for to rescue [obj] you from hand: power his

30 nether yyue he trist to you on the Lord, and seie, The Lord delyuerynge schal delyuere vs, and this citee shal not be bitakun in the hond of the kyng of Assiriens;

and not to trust [obj] you Hezekiah to(wards) LORD to/for to say to rescue to rescue us LORD and not to give: give [obj] [the] city [the] this in/on/with hand: power king Assyria

31 nyle ye here Ezechie. For the kyng of Assiriens seith these thingis, Do ye with me that, that is profitable to you, and go ye out to me; and eche man schal ete of his vyner, and of his fige tree, and ye schulen drynke watris of youre cisternes,

not to hear: hear to(wards) Hezekiah for thus to say king Assyria to make with me blessing and to come out: come to(wards) me and to eat man: anyone vine his and man: anyone fig his and to drink man: anyone water pit his

32 til Y come, and translate you in to a lond which is lijk youre lond, in to a fruytful lond, and plenteuouse of wyn, a lond of breed, and of vineris, a lond of olyue trees, and of oile, and of hony; and ye schulen lyue, and ye schulen not die. Nyle ye here Ezechie, that disseyueth you, and seith, The Lord schal delyuere yow.

till to come (in): come I and to take: take [obj] you to(wards) land: country/planet like/as land: country/planet your land: country/planet grain and new wine land: country/planet food: bread and vineyard land: country/planet olive oil and honey and to live and not to die and not to hear: hear to(wards) Hezekiah for to incite [obj] you to/for to say LORD to rescue us

33 Whether the goddis of hethene men delyueriden her lond fro the hond of the kyng of Assiriens?

to rescue to rescue God [the] nation man: anyone [obj] land: country/planet his from hand: power king Assyria

34 Where is god of Emath, and of Arphat? Where is god of Sapharuaym, of Ana, and of Aua? Whether thei delyueriden Samarie fro myn hond?

where? God Hamath and Arpad where? God Sepharvaim Hena and Ivvah for to rescue [obj] Samaria from hand: power my

35 For who ben thei in alle goddis of londis, that delyueriden her cuntrey fro myn hond, that the Lord may delyuere Jerusalem fro myn hoond?

36 Therfor the puple was stille, and answeride not ony thing to hym; for thei hadden take comaundement of the kyng, that thei schulden not answere to hym.

and be quiet [the] people and not to answer [obj] him word for commandment [the] king he/she/it to/for to say not to answer him

37 And Eliachym, sone of Elchie, the souereyn of the hows, and Sobna, scryuen, and Joahe, chaunceler, the sone of Asaph, camen with to-rent clothis to Ezechie; and telden to hym the wordis of Rabsaces.

and to come (in): come Eliakim son: child Hilkiah which upon [the] house: temple and Shebna [the] secretary and Joah son: child Asaph [the] to remember to(wards) Hezekiah to tear garment and to tell to/for him word Rabshakeh Rabshakeh
