2 Kings 14
1 Yn the secounde yeer of Joas, sone of Joachas, kyng of Israel, Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, regnyde.
La deuxième année de Joas, fils de Joachaz, roi d’Israël, régna Amasias, fils de Joas, roi de Juda.
2 Amasie was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne; forsothe he regnyde in Jerusalem nyne and twenti yeer; the name of his modir was Joade of Jerusalem.
Il avait vingt-cinq ans, lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s’appelait Joadan, de Jérusalem.
3 And he dide riytfulnesse bifor the Lord, netheles not as Dauid, his fadir; he dide bi alle thingis whiche Joas, his fadir, dide, no but this oonli,
Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de Yahweh, non pas toutefois comme David, son père; il se conduisit en tout comme avait Joas, son père.
4 that he dide not awei hiy thingis; for yit the puple made sacrifice, and brent encence in hiy thingis.
Seulement les hauts lieux ne disparurent point; le peuple continuait d’offrir des sacrifices et des parfums sur les hauts lieux.
5 And whanne he hadde gete the rewme, he smoot hise seruauntis, that hadden killid the kyng, his fadir;
Lorsque la royauté fut affermie dans sa main, il frappa ses serviteurs, qui avaient tué le roi, son père.
6 but he killide not the sones of hem that hadden slayn `the kyng, bi that that is writun in the book of the lawe of Moyses, as the Lord comaundide to Moises, and seide, Fadris schulen not die for the sones, nethir the sones for the fadris, but eche man schal die in his owne synne.
Mais il ne fit pas mourir les fils des meurtriers, selon ce qui est écrit dans le livre de la loi de Moïse, où Yahweh donne ce commandement: « Les pères ne seront pas mis à mort pour les enfants, et les enfants ne seront pas mis à mort pour les pères; mais on fera mourir chacun pour son péché. »
7 He smoot Edom in the valey of makyngis of salt, `he smoot ten thousynde, and took `the Stoon in batel; and he clepide the name therof Jethel, `til in to present dai.
Il battit dix mille Édomites dans la vallée du Sel, et il prit d’assaut Séla, et lui donna le nom de Jectéhel, qu’elle a conservé jusqu’à ce jour.
8 Thanne Amasie sente messangeris to Joas, sone of Joachaz, sone of Hieu, kyng of Israel, and seide, Come thou, and se we vs `in batel.
Alors Amasias envoya des messagers à Joas, fils de Joachaz, fils de Jéhu, roi d’Israël, pour lui dire: « Viens, et voyons-nous en face. »
9 And Joas, kyng of Israel, sente ayen to Amasie, kyng of Juda, and seide, The cardue, `that is, a low eerbe, and ful of thornes, of the Liban sente to the cedre, which is in the Liban, and seide, Yyue thi douytir wijf to my sone; and the beestis of the forest, that ben in the Liban, passiden, and tredden doun the cardue.
Et Joas, roi d’Israël, envoya répondre à Amasias, roi de Juda: « L’épine qui est au Liban envoya dire au cèdre qui est au Liban: Donne ta fille pour femme à mon fils! Et les bêtes sauvages qui sont au Liban passèrent et foulèrent aux pieds l’épine.
10 Thou hast smyte, and haddist the maistri on Edom, and thin herte hath reisid thee; be thou apaied with glorie, and sitte in thin hows; whi excitist thou yuel, that thou falle, and Juda with thee?
Tu as, en vérité, battu les Edomites, et ton cœur s’est élevé. Glorifie-toi, et reste chez toi. Pourquoi t’engager dans le malheur, pour tomber, toi, et Juda avec toi? »
11 And Amasie assentide not `to be in pees; and Joas, kyng of Israel, stiede, and he and Amasie, kyng of Juda, sien hem silf in Bethsames, a citee of Juda.
Mais Amasias ne l’ écouta pas. Et Joas, roi d’Israël, monta, et ils se virent en face, lui et Amasias, roi de Juda, à Bethsamès, qui est à Juda.
12 And Juda was smytun bifor Israel; and thei fledden ech man in to his tabernaclis.
Juda fut battu devant Israël, et chacun s’enfuit dans sa tente.
13 Sotheli Joas, kyng of Israel, took in Bethsames Amasie, kyng of Juda, the sone of Joas, sone of Ocozie, and brouyte hym in to Jerusalem; and he brak the wal of Jerusalem, fro the yate of Effraym `til to the yate of the corner, bi foure hundrid cubitis.
Joas, roi d’Israël, prit à Bethsamès Amasias, roi de Juda, fils de Joas, fils d’Ochozias. Il vint à Jérusalem et fit une brèche de quatre cents coudées dans la muraille de Jérusalem, depuis la porte d’Ephraïm jusqu’à la porte de l’angle.
14 And he took al the gold and siluer, and alle vessels, that weren foundun in the hows of the Lord, and in the tresours of the kyng; and he took ostagis, and turnede ayen in to Samarie.
Il prit tout l’or et l’argent et tous les ustensiles qui se trouvaient dans la maison de Yahweh et dans les trésors de la maison du roi; il prit aussi des otages, et retourna à Samarie.
15 Sotheli the resydue of wordis of Joas, whiche he dide, and his strengthe, bi which he fauyt ayens Amasie, kyng of Juda, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of dayes of the kyngis of Israel?
Le reste des actes de Joas, ce qu’il a fait, et comment il combattit avec Amasias, roi de Juda, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d’Israël?
16 And Joas slepte with hise fadris, and was biried in Samarie with the kyngis of Israel; and Jeroboam, his sone, regnede for hym.
Joas se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré à Samarie, avec les rois d’Israël. Jéroboam, son fils, régna à sa place.
17 Forsothe Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, lyuede fyue and twenti yeer, after that Joas, sone of Joachaz, kyng of Israel, was deed.
Amasias, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, vécut quinze ans après la mort de Joas, fils de Joachaz, roi d’Israël.
18 Forsothe the residue of wordis of Amasie, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Juda?
Le reste des actes d’Amasias n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?
19 And `sweryng togidir in Jerusalem was maad ayens hym, and he fledde in to Lachis; and thei senten aftir hym in to Lachis, and killiden hym there.
On ourdit contre lui une conspiration à Jérusalem, et il s’enfuit à Lachis; mais on envoya après lui des hommes à Lachis, et on l’y mit à mort.
20 And thei baren out hym in horsis, and he was biried in Jerusalem with hise fadris, in the citee of Dauid.
On le transporta sur des chevaux, et il fut enterré à Jérusalem avec ses pères, dans la cité de David.
21 Forsothe al the puple of Juda took Azarie, hauynge sixtene yeer; and maden hym king for his fadir Amasie.
Et tout le peuple de Juda prit Azarias, qui était âgé de seize ans; et on l’établit roi à la place de son père Amasias.
22 And he bildide Ahila, and restoride it to Juda, after that `the kyng slepte with hise fadris.
Azarias rebâtit Elath et la ramena à Juda, après que le roi fut couché avec ses pères.
23 In the fiftenethe yeer of Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, Jeroboam, sone of Joas, kyng of Israel, regnyde in Samarie oon and fourti yeer;
La quinzième année d’Amasias, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, Jéroboam, fils de Joas roi d’Israël, régna à Samarie; son règne fut de quarante et un ans.
24 and dide that, that is yuel bifor the Lord; he yede not awei fro alle the synnes of Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, that made Israel to do synne.
Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh; il ne se détourna d’aucun des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nabat, qui avait fait pécher Israël.
25 He restoride the termes of Israel, fro the entryng of Emath `til to the see of wildirnesse, bi the word of the Lord God of Israel, which he spak bi his seruaunt Jonas, sone of Amathi, bi Jonas, the prophete, that was of Jeth, `which Jeth is in Ophir.
Il rétablit les limites d’Israël depuis l’entrée d’Emath jusqu’à la mer de l’Arabah, selon la parole de Yahweh, Dieu d’Israël, qu’il avait dite par l’organe de son serviteur Jonas, le prophète, fils d’Amathi, qui était de Geth-Chépher.
26 For the Lord siy the ful bittir turment of Israel, and that thei weren wastid `til to the closid men of prisoun, and the laste men, and `noon was that helpide Israel.
Car Yahweh vit l’affliction très amère d’Israël, où il n’y avait plus ni homme marié, ni homme libre, ni personne pour venir au secours d’Israël.
27 And the Lord spak not, that he schulde do awei Israel fro vndur heuene, but he sauyde hem in the hond of Jeroboam, sone of Joas.
Et Yahweh n’avait pas encore résolu d’effacer le nom d’Israël de dessous les cieux, mais il les délivra par la main de Jéroboam, fils de Joas.
28 Forsothe the residue of wordis of Jeroboam, and alle thingis whiche he dide, and the strengthe of hym, bi which he fauyt, and hou he restoride Damask, and Emath of Juda, in Israel, whether these ben not wrytun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Israel?
Le reste des actes de Jéroboam, tout ce qu’il a fait, ses exploits, comment il combattit et comment il ramena à Israël Damas et Emath qui avait appartenu à Juda, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d’Israël?
29 And Jeroboam slepte with hise fadris, the kyngis of Israel; and Azarie, his sone, regnede for hym.
Jéroboam se coucha avec ses pères, avec les rois d’Israël; et Zacharias, son fils, régna à sa place.
