2 Corinthians 5
1 And we witen, that if oure ertheli hous of this dwellynge be dissoluyd, that we han a bildyng of God, an hous not maad bi hondis, euerlastynge in heuenes. (aiōnios g166)
Sabemos que, se essa “tenda” terrena, na qual vivemos, for destruída, temos uma casa preparada por Deus, que não é feita por mãos humanas. Ela é eterna e está no céu. (aiōnios g166)
2 For whi in this thing we mornen, coueitynge to be clothid aboue with oure dwellyng, which is of heuene; if netheles we ben foundun clothid,
Nós suspiramos de saudade, pois queremos muito nos vestir com essa nova casa celestial.
3 and not nakid.
Quando colocarmos essa roupa, nos sentiremos vestidos e não sem roupa.
4 For whi and we that ben in this tabernacle, sorewen with ynne, and ben heuyed, for that we wolen not be spuylid, but be clothid aboue; that the ilke thing that is deedli, be sopun vp of lijf.
Enquanto estamos nessa “tenda”, suspiramos, nos sentindo sobrecarregados por essa vida. Não é tanto por querermos tirar a roupa dessa vida, mas é que aguardamos ansiosamente pelo que iremos vestir, para que o que agora é mortal possa ser dominado pela vida.
5 But who is it that makith vs in to this same thing? God, that yaf to vs the ernes of the spirit.
É o próprio Deus quem nos preparou para tudo isso. E ele também nos deu seu Espírito, como uma garantia para nós.
6 Therfor we ben hardi algatis, and witen that the while we ben in this bodi, we goen in pilgrymage fro the Lord;
Assim, permanecemos confiantes, sabendo que enquanto estivermos em casa, aqui em nosso corpo físico, estaremos distantes do lar do Senhor.
7 for we walken bi feith, and not bi cleer siyt.
Pois nós vivemos pela fé em Deus e, não, por vê-lo.
8 But we ben hardi, and han good wille, more to be in pilgrymage fro the bodi, and to be present to God.
Como eu digo, nós estamos confiantes e gostaríamos de deixar esta vida, para irmos viver com o Senhor.
9 And therfor we stryuen, whether absent, whether present, to plese hym.
É por isso que o nosso objetivo, seja nesta vida aqui ou não, é ter a certeza de agradar ao Senhor.
10 For it bihoueth vs alle to be schewid bifor the trone of Crist, that euery man telle the propre thingis of the bodi, as he hath don, ethir good, ether yuel.
Pois todos nós devemos comparecer diante de Cristo, para sermos julgados por ele. Cada um de nós receberá o que merece pelo bem ou pelo mal que tiver feito em sua vida aqui na terra.
11 Therfor we witynge the drede of the Lord, councelen men, for to God we ben opyn; and Y hope, that we ben opyn also in youre consciencis.
Sabendo como estamos maravilhados pelo Senhor, tentamos convencer outras pessoas disso. Está claro para Deus o que nós somos, e eu espero que também isso esteja claro na mente de vocês.
12 We comenden not vs silf eftsoone to you, but we yyuen to you occasioun to haue glorie for vs, that ye haue to hem that glorien in the face, and not in the herte.
Nós não estamos tentando falar bem de nós mesmos de novo. Só estamos tentando lhes dar a oportunidade de sentirem orgulho de nós, para que vocês possam responder àqueles que sentem orgulho da aparência exterior de alguém e, não, do que ela carrega dentro de si.
13 For ethir we bi mynde passen to God, ether we ben sobre to you.
Se nós somos “pessoas loucas”, é por amor a Deus. E se nós fazemos sentido, é por amor a vocês.
14 For the charite of Crist dryueth vs; gessynge this thing, that if oon died for alle, thanne alle weren deed.
O amor de Cristo nos encoraja, pois estamos absolutamente certos de que ele morreu por todos; o que quer dizer que todos morreram.
15 And Crist diede for alle, that thei that lyuen, lyue not now to hem silf, but to hym that diede for hem, and roos ayen.
Cristo morreu por todos, para que não vivam mais para si mesmos, mas, vivam para ele, que morreu e ressuscitou por eles.
16 Therfor we fro this tyme knowen no man aftir the fleische; thouy we knowun Crist aftir the fleisch, but nowe we knowun not.
De modo que, a partir de agora, não olharemos mais as pessoas a partir do ponto de vista humano. Mesmo que já tenhamos visto Cristo dessa maneira, não fazemos mais assim.
17 Therfor if ony newe creature is in Crist, the elde thingis ben passid.
É por isso que alguém que esteja unido a Cristo é uma nova pessoa. O que era antigo se foi, e o novo chegou!
18 And lo! alle thingis ben of God, which recounselide vs to hym bi Crist, and yaf to vs the seruyce of recounselyng.
Deus fez tudo isso ao nos transformar de inimigos em amigos, por meio de Cristo. Deus nos deu a mesma tarefa de transformar os seus inimigos em seus amigos.
19 And God was in Crist, recounselynge to hym the world, not rettynge to hem her giltes, and puttide in vs the word of recounselyng.
Pois Deus estava unido a Cristo, fazendo com que o mundo deixasse de tratá-lo como um inimigo e passasse a vê-lo como um amigo. Deus não está levando em consideração os pecados das pessoas. E ele está nos dando essa mensagem para transformar os seus inimigos em seus amigos.
20 Therfor we vsen message for Crist, as if God monestith bi vs; we bisechen for Crist, be ye recounselid to God.
Assim, somos embaixadores em nome de Cristo, como se Deus pedisse por meio de nós: “Por favor, deixem que eu os transforme de inimigos em meus amigos!”
21 God the fadir made hym synne for vs, which knewe not synne, that we schulden be maad riytwisnesse of God in hym.
Deus fez Jesus, que não tem pecados, passar pelas consequências do pecado, para que pudéssemos ter um caráter bom e justo, exatamente como Deus é bom e justo.
