2 Chronicles 11
1 Forsothe Roboam cam in to Jerusalem, and clepide togidere al the hows of Juda and of Beniamyn, `til to nyne scoore thousynde of chosen men and werriouris, for to fiyte ayens Israel, and for to turne his rewme to hym.
Roboam donc s'en vint à Jérusalem, et assembla la maison de Juda, et celle de Benjamin, qui furent cent quatre-vingt mille hommes d'élite, propres à la guerre, pour combattre contre Israël, [et] pour réduire le Royaume en sa puissance.
2 And the word of the Lord was maad to Semeye, the man of God,
Mais la parole de l'Eternel fut adressée à Sémahia, homme de Dieu, en disant:
3 and seide, Speke thou to Roboam, the sone of Salomon, kyng of Juda, and to al Israel, which is in Juda and Beniamyn; The Lord seith these thingis,
Parle à Roboam fils de Salomon, Roi de Juda, et à tous ceux d'Israël qui sont en Juda, et en Benjamin, en disant:
4 Ye schulen not stie, nethir ye schulen fiyte ayens youre britheren; ech man turne ayen in to his hows, for this thing is doon bi my wille. And whanne thei hadden herd the word of the Lord, thei turneden ayen, and yeden not ayens kyng Jeroboam.
Ainsi a dit l'Eternel: Vous ne monterez point, et vous ne combattrez point contre vos frères; retournez-vous-en chacun en sa maison; car ceci a été fait de par moi; et ils obéirent à la parole de l'Eternel, et s'en retournèrent sans aller contre Jéroboam.
5 Forsothe Roboam dwellide in Jerusalem, and he bildide wallid citees in Juda;
Roboam demeura donc à Jérusalem, et bâtit des villes en Juda pour forteresses.
6 and bildide Bethleem, and Ethan, and Thecue, and Bethsur;
Il bâtit Beth-léhem, Hetam, Tekoah,
7 and Sochot, and Odollam;
Beth-sur, Soco, Hadullam,
8 also and Jeth, and Maresa, and Ziph;
Gath, Maresa, Ziph,
9 but also Huram, and Lachis, and Azecha;
Adorajim, Lakis, Hazéka,
10 and Saraa, and Hailon, and Ebron, that weren in Juda and Beniamyn, ful strong citees.
Tsorah, Ajalon, et Hébron, qui étaient des villes de forteresse en Juda et en Benjamin.
11 And whanne he hadde closid tho with wallis, he settide `in tho citees princes, and bernes of metis, that is, of oile, and of wyn.
Il fortifia donc ces forteresses, et y mit des Gouverneurs, et des provisions de vivres, d'huile, et de vin;
12 But also in ech citee he made placis of armuris of scheeldis, and speris, and he made tho strong with most diligence; and he regnyde on Juda and Beniamyn.
Et en chaque ville, des boucliers, et des javelines, et il les fortifia bien. Ainsi Juda et Benjamin lui furent soumis.
13 Sotheli the preestis and dekenes, that weren in al Israel, camen to hym fro alle her seetis,
Et les Sacrificateurs et les Lévites qui étaient dans tout Israël, se joignirent à lui de toutes leurs contrées.
14 and forsoken her subarbis and possessiouns, and thei passiden to Juda and to Jerusalem; for Jeroboam and hise aftir comeris hadden cast hem a wey, that thei schulden not be set in preesthod of the Lord;
Car les Lévites laissèrent leurs faubourgs et leurs possessions, et vinrent dans la [Tribu] de Juda, et à Jérusalem: parce que Jéroboam et ses fils les avaient rejetés, afin qu'ils ne servissent plus de Sacrificateurs à l'Eternel.
15 which Jeroboam made to hym preestis of hiye places, and of feendis, and of caluys, which he hadde maad.
Car [Jéroboam] s'était établi des sacrificateurs pour les hauts lieux, pour les démons, et pour les veaux qu'il avait faits.
16 But also of alle the linagis of Israel, whiche euer yauen her herte to seke the Lord God of Israel, thei camen to Jerusalem for to offre her sacrifices bifor the Lord God of her fadris.
Et après eux ceux d'entre toutes les Tribus d'Israël qui avaient appliqué leur cœur à chercher l'Eternel le Dieu d'Israël, vinrent à Jérusalem, pour sacrifier à l'Eternel le Dieu de leurs pères.
17 And thei strengthiden the rewme of Juda, and strengthiden Roboam, the sone of Salomon, bi thre yeer; for thei yeden in the weies of Dauid, and of Salomon, oneli bi thre yeer.
Et ils fortifièrent le Royaume de Juda, et renforcèrent Roboam fils de Salomon, pendant trois ans, parce qu'on suivit le train de David et de Salomon pendant trois ans.
18 Forsothe Roboam weddide a wijf Malaoth, the douytir of Jerymuth, sone of Dauid, and Abiail, the douytir of Heliab, sone of Ysaye;
Or Roboam prit pour femme Mahalath, fille de Jérimoth, fils de David; [et] Abihaïl fille d'Eliab, fils d'Isaï;
19 and sche childide to hym sones, Yeus, and Somorie, and Zerei.
Laquelle lui enfanta ces fils, Jéhus, Sémaria, et Zaham.
20 Also after this wijf he took Maacha, the douyter of Abissalon, and sche childide to hym Abia, and Thai, and Ziza, and Salomyth.
Et après elle il prit Mahaca, fille d'Absalom, qui lui enfanta Abija, Hattaï, Ziza, et Sélomith.
21 Forsothe Roboam louyde Maacha, the douytir of Abissalon, aboue alle hise wyues and secundarie wyues. Forsothe he hadde weddid eiytene wyues, sotheli sixti secundarie wyues; and he gendride eiyte and twenti sones, and sixti douytris.
Mais Roboam aima Mahaca, fille d'Absalom, plus que toutes ses [autres] femmes, et que ses concubines; car il avait pris dix-huit femmes et soixante concubines, dont il eut vingt-huit fils, et soixante filles.
22 Sotheli he ordeynede Abia, the sone of Maacha, in the heed, duyk ouer alle hise britheren; for he thouyte to make Abia kyng,
Et Roboam établit pour Chef Abija, fils de Mahaca, afin qu'il fût le Chef de ses frères; car [son intention était] de le faire Roi.
23 for he was wisere and myytiere ouer alle hise sones, and in alle the coostis of Juda and of Beniamyn, and in alle wallid citees; and he yaf to hem ful many metis, and he had many wyues.
Et il s'avisa prudemment de disperser tous ses enfants par toutes les contrées de Juda et de Benjamin, [savoir] par toutes les villes fortes, et leur donna abondamment de quoi vivre; et il demanda pour eux beaucoup de femmes.
