2 Chronicles 10
1 Forsothe Roboam yede forth in to Sichem; for al Israel came togidere thidur to make hym kyng.
Und Rehabeam begab sich nach Sichem, denn zu Sichem war ganz Israel erschienen, um ihn zum Könige zu machen.
2 And whanne Jeroboam, the sone of Nabath, that was in Egipt, `for he fledde thidur bifor Salomon, hadde herd this, he turnyde ayen anoon.
Sobald aber Jerobeam, der Sohn Nebats, vernahm - er befand sich nämlich in Ägypten, wohin er vor dem Könige Salomo geflohen war, - daß Salomo gestorben sei, kehrte Jerobeam aus Ägypten zurück.
3 And thei clepiden hym, and he cam with al Israel, and thei spaken to Roboam, and seiden,
Und sie sandten hin und ließen ihn rufen. Da kamen Jerobeam und ganz Israel und redeten zu Rehabeam also:
4 Thi fadir oppresside vs with ful hard yok; comaunde thou liytere thingis than thi fader, that settide on vs a greuouse seruage; and releese thou a litil of `the birthun, that we serue thee. And he seide,
Dein Vater hat uns ein drückendes Joch auferlegt; so erleichtere uns nun den harten Dienst und das schwere Joch, daß uns dein Vater auferlegt hat, so wollen wir dir unterthan sein.
5 After thre daies turne ye ayen to me. And whanne the puple was goon, he took counsel with elde men,
Er erwiderte ihnen: Zieht euch nochmals für drei Tage zurück und kommt dann wieder zu mir! Und das Volk zog sich zurück.
6 that stoden bifor his fadir Salomon, while he lyuyde yit, and seide, What counsel yyuen ye, that Y answere to the puple?
Da beriet sich der König Rehabeam mit den Alten, die seinen Vater Salomo bei dessen Lebzeiten bedient hatten, und sprach: Welchen Bescheid ratet ihr diesen Leuten zu geben?
7 And thei seiden to hym, If thou plesist this puple, and makist hem softe bi meke wordis, thei schulen serue thee in al tyme.
Sie erwiderten ihm also: Wirst du heute gegen diese Leute gütig sein und sie gnädig behandeln und ihnen einen freundlichen Bescheid erteilen, so werden sie dir allezeit unterthan sein.
8 And he forsook the counsel of elde men, and bigan to trete with yonge men, that weren nurischid with hym, and weren in his cumpenye.
Er aber kehrte sich nicht an den Rat, den ihm die Alten gegeben hatten, sondern beriet sich mit den Jungen, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren und nun in seinem Dienste standen,
9 And he seide to hem, What semeth to you? ether what owe Y answere to this puple, that seide to me, Releese thou the yok, which thi fadir puttide on vs?
und fragte sie: Welchen Bescheid ratet ihr diesen Leuten zu geben, die also zu mir geredet haben: Mache das Joch leichter, das uns dein Vater auferlegt hat?
10 And thei answeriden, as yonge men and nurschyd with hym in delicis, and seiden, Thus thou schalt speke to the puple that seide to thee, Thi fadir made greuouse oure yok, releese thou; and thus thou schalt answere to hem, My leeste fyngur is gretter than the leendis of my fader;
Da antworteten ihm die Jungen, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren, also: So mußt du den Leuten antworten, die das zu dir gesagt haben: “Dein Vater hat uns ein schweres Joch auferlegt, du aber mache es uns leichter”, - so mußt du zu ihnen sprechen: Mein kleiner Finger ist dicker als meines Vaters Lenden!
11 my fadir puttide on you a greuouse yok, and Y schal leie to a gretter birthun; my fadir beet you with scourgis, forsothe Y schal bete you with `scorpiouns, that is, hard knottid roopis.
Wohlan denn, hat euch mein Vater ein schweres Joch aufgeladen, so will ich euer Joch noch drückender machen; hat euch mein Vater mit Peitschen gezüchtigt, so will ich euch mit Scorpionen züchtigen!
12 Therfor Jeroboam and al the puple cam to Roboam in the thridde dai, as he hadde comaundid to hem.
Als nun Jerobeam und das ganze Volk am dritten Tage zu Rehabeam kam, nach dem Befehle des Königs: Kommt am dritten Tage wieder zu mir!
13 And `the kyng answeride harde thingis, after that he hadde forsake the counsel of the eldere men,
da gab ihnen der König eine harte Antwort. Und der König Rehabeam kehrte sich nicht an den Rat der Alten,
14 and he spak bi the wille of the yonge men, My fadir puttide on you a greuouse yok, which Y schal make greuousere; my fadir beet you with scourgis, sotheli Y schal bete you with scorpiouns.
sondern redete nach der Jungen Rat also zu ihnen: Hat euch mein Vater ein schweres Joch auferlegt, so will ich es noch drückender machen; hat euch mein Vater mit Peitschen gezüchtigt, so will ich euch mit Skorpionen züchtigen!
15 And he assentide not to the preieris of the puple; for it was the wille of God, that his word schulde be fillid, which he hadde spoke bi the hond of Ahie of Silo to Jeroboam, sone of Nabath.
Also gab der König dem Volke kein Gehör; denn so war es von Gott verhängt, damit Jahwe sein Wort in Kraft treten ließe, das er durch Ahia von Silo zu Jerobeam, dem Sohne Nebats, geredet hatte.
16 Sotheli whanne the kyng seide hardere thingis, al the puple spak thus to hym, No part is to vs in Dauid, nether eritage in the sone of Isai; Israel, turne thou ayen in to thi tabernaclis, sotheli thou, Dauid, feede thin hows. And Israel yede in to hise tabernaclis.
Als aber ganz Israel erkannte, daß ihnen der König kein Gehör geschenkt habe, gab das Volk dem Könige diesen Bescheid: Was haben wir für Teil an David? Kein Erbe steht uns zu am Sohne Isais! Mann für Mann nach deiner Heimat begieb dich, Israel! Nun sieh nach deinem Hause, David! Also begaben sich sämtliche Israeliten in ihre Heimat.
17 Forsothe Roboam regnede on the sones of Israel, that dwelliden in the citees of Juda.
Über die Israeliten aber, die in den Städten Judas wohnten, über diese war Rehabeam König.
18 And kyng Roboam sente Adhuram, that was souereyn ouer the tributis; and the sones of Israel stonyden hym, and he was deed. Certis kyng Roboam hastide to stie in to the chare, and fledde in to Jerusalem.
Als nun der König Rehabeam den Fronmeister Hadoram hinsandte, warfen ihn die Israeliten mit Steinen zu Tode. Der König Rehabeam aber sprang noch rasch auf seinen Wagen und floh nach Jerusalem.
19 And Israel yede awei fro the hows of Dauid `til to this dai. Forsothe it was doon, whanne al Israel hadde herd, that Jeroboam turnede ayen, thei senten, and clepiden hym, whanne the cumpeny was gaderid, and thei ordeyneden him king on al Israel; and no man, outakun the lynage of Juda aloone, suede `the hows of Dauid.
Also fiel Israel vom Hause Davids ab, bis auf den heutigen Tag.
