1 Timothy 6
1 What euere seruauntis ben vndur yok, deme thei her lordis worthi al onour, lest the name of the Lord and the doctryn be blasfemyd.
Todos los que están bajo el yugo de la servidumbre tengan a sus amos por dignos de todo honor, para que el nombre de Dios y la doctrina no sean blasfemados.
2 And thei that han feithful lordis, dispise hem not, for thei ben britheren; but more serue thei, for thei ben feithful and louyd, whiche ben parceneris of benefice. Teche thou these thingis, and moneste thou these thingis.
Y los que tienen amos creyentes, no por ser hermanos les tributen menos respeto, antes sírvanles mejor, por lo mismo que son fieles y amados los que reciben su servicio. Esto enseña y a esto exhorta.
3 If ony man techith othere wise, and acordith not to the hoolsum wordis of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, and to that teching that is bi pitee,
Si uno enseña otra cosa y no se allega a las palabras saludables de nuestro Señor Jesucristo y a la doctrina que es según la piedad,
4 he is proud, and kan no thing, but langwischith aboute questiouns and stryuyng of wordis, of the whiche ben brouyt forth enuyes, stryues, blasfemyes, yuele suspiciouns, fiytingis of men,
este es un hombre hinchado que no sabe nada, antes bien tiene un enfermizo afecto por cuestiones y disputas de palabras, de donde nacen envidias, contiendas, maledicencias, sospechas malignas,
5 that ben corrupt in soule, and that ben pryued fro treuthe, that demen wynnyng to be pitee.
altercaciones de hombres corrompidos en su mente y privados de la verdad, que piensan que la piedad es una granjería.
6 But a greet wynnyng is pitee, with sufficience.
En verdad, grande granjería es la piedad con el contento ( de lo que se tiene ).
7 For we brouyten in no thing in to this world, and no doute, that we moun not bere `awey ony thing.
Porque nada trajimos al mundo, ni tampoco podemos llevarnos cosa alguna de él.
8 But we hauynge foodis, and with what thingus we schulen be hilid, be we paied with these thingis.
Teniendo pues qué comer y con qué cubrirnos, estemos contentos con esto.
9 For thei that wolen be maad riche, fallen in to temptacioun, and `in to snare of the deuel, and in to many vnprofitable desiris and noyous, whiche drenchen men in to deth and perdicioun.
Porque los que quieren ser ricos caen en la tentación y en el lazo ( del diablo ) y en muchas codicias necias y perniciosas, que precipitan a los hombres en ruina y perdición.
10 For the rote of alle yuelis is coueytise, which summen coueitinge erriden fro the feith, and bisettiden hem with many sorewis.
Pues raíz de todos los males es el amor al dinero; por desearlo, algunos se desviaron de la fe y se torturaron ellos mismos con muchos dolores.
11 But, thou, man of God, fle these thingis; but sue thou riytwisnesse, pite, feith, charite, pacience, myldenesse.
Mas tú, oh hombre de Dios, huye de estas cosas, y anda tras la justicia, la piedad, la fe, la caridad, la paciencia, la mansedumbre.
12 Stryue thou a good strijf of feith, catche euerlastinge lijf, in to which thou art clepid, and hast knoulechid a good knouleching bifor many witnessis. (aiōnios g166)
Lucha la buena lucha de la fe; echa mano de la vida eterna, para la cual fuiste llamado, y de la cual hiciste aquella bella confesión delante de muchos testigos. (aiōnios g166)
13 I comaunde to thee bifor God, that quikeneth alle thingis, and bifor Crist Jhesu, that yeldide a witnessing vnder Pilat of Pounce, a good confessioun,
Te ruego, en presencia de Dios que da vida a todas las cosas, y de Cristo Jesús —el cual hizo bajo Poncio Pilato la bella confesión—
14 that thou kepe the comaundement with out wem, with out repreef, in to the comyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist;
que guardes tu mandato sin mancha y sin reproche hasta la aparición de nuestro Señor Jesucristo,
15 whom the blessid and aloone miyti king of kyngis and Lord of lordis schal schewe in his tymes.
que a su tiempo hará ostensible el bendito y único Dominador, Rey de los reyes y Señor de los señores;
16 Which aloone hath vndeedlynesse, and dwellith in liyt, to which no man may come; whom no man say, nether may se; to whom glorie, and honour, and empire be with out ende. Amen. (aiōnios g166)
el único que posee inmortalidad y habita en una luz inaccesible que ningún hombre ha visto ni puede ver. A Él sea honor y poder eterno. Amén. (aiōnios g166)
17 Comaunde thou to the riche men of this world, that thei vndurstonde not hiyli, nether that thei hope in vncerteynte of richessis, but in the lyuynge God, that yyueth to vs alle thingis plenteuously to vse; (aiōn g165)
A los que son ricos en este siglo exhórtalos a que no sean altivos, ni pongan su esperanza en lo inseguro de las riquezas, sino en Dios, el cual nos da abundantemente de todo para disfrutarlo; (aiōn g165)
18 to do wel, to be maad riche in good werkis, liytli to yyue, to comyne,
que hagan el bien; que sean ricos en buenos obras, dadivosos, generosos,
19 to tresoure to hem silf a good foundement in to tyme to comynge, that thei catche euerlastinge lijf.
atesorándose un buen fondo para lo porvenir, a fin de alcanzar la vida verdadera.
20 Thou Tymothe, kepe the thing bitakun to thee, eschewynge cursid noueltees of voicis, and opynyouns of fals name of kunnyng;
Oh, Timoteo, cuida el depósito, evitando las palabrerías profanas y las objeciones de la seudociencia.
21 which summen bihetinge, aboute the feith fellen doun. The grace of God be with thee. Amen.
Por profesarla algunos se han extraviado de la fe. La gracia sea con vosotros.
