1 Timothy 5
1 Blame thou not an eldere man, but biseche as a fadir, yonge men as britheren; elde wymmen as modris,
No reprendas al anciano que tiene autoridad en la iglesia, sino que exhorta como a un padre, y a los hombres más jóvenes como a hermanos:
2 yonge wymmen as sistris, in al chastite.
A las mujeres mayores como a las madres, a las jóvenes como a las hermanas, con un corazón limpio.
3 Honoure thou widewis, that ben very widewis.
Honra a las viudas que son verdaderamente viudas.
4 But if ony widewe hath children of sones, lerne sche first to gouerne her hous, and quyte to fadir and modir; for this thing is acceptid bifor God.
Pero si alguna viuda tiene hijos o nietos, vean estos que es correcto cuidar a su familia y a sus padres y madres, porque esto es agradable a los ojos de Dios.
5 And sche that is a widewe verili, and desolate, hope in to God, and be bisy in bisechingis and preieris niyt and dai.
Ahora la que es verdaderamente viuda y sin familia pone su esperanza en Dios, se entrega a la oración día y noche.
6 For sche that is lyuynge in delicis, is deed.
Pero la que se da a gusto a los placeres viviendo está muerta.
7 And comaunde thou this thing, that thei be withouten repreef.
Ordena estas cosas, para que sean sin reproche.
8 For if ony man hath not cure of his owne, and most of hise household men, he hath denyed the feith, and is worse than an vnfeithful man.
Si alguien no tiene cuidado de su familia y de los que están en su casa, ha negado la fe, y es peor que uno que no tiene fe.
9 A widewe be chosun not lesse than sixti yeer, that was wijf of oon hosebonde,
Ninguna mujer sea contada entre las viudas menores de sesenta años, y solo si ella ha sido mujer de un hombre,
10 and hath witnessing in good werkis, if sche nurschede children, if sche resseyuede pore men to herbore, if sche hath waischun the feet of hooli men, if sche mynystride to men that suffriden tribulacioun, if sche folewide al good werk.
Y si se dan testimonio de sus buenas obras; si ha tenido el cuidado de niños, si ha sido amable con los viajeros, lavando los pies de los santos, ayudando a aquellos que están en problemas, entregándose a sí misma a buenas obras.
11 But eschewe thou yongere widewis; for whanne thei han do letcherie, thei wolen be weddid in Crist,
Pero a las viudas más jóvenes les dicen que no; porque cuando su amor se aparta de Cristo, desean casarse;
12 hauynge dampnacioun, for thei han maad voide the firste feith.
Y ellas son juzgadas porque han hecho a un lado su primera fe;
13 Also thei idil lernen to go aboute housis, not oneli ydel, but ful of wordis and curiouse, spekynge thingis that bihoueth not.
Y se vuelven perezosas, yendo de casa en casa; y no solo no hace ningún trabajo, sino que hablan tontamente, están demasiado interesadas en los asuntos de los demás, dicen cosas que no tienen derecho a decir.
14 Therfor Y wole, that yongere widewis be weddid, and bringe forth children, and ben hosewyues, to yyue noon occasioun to the aduersarie, bi cause of cursid thing.
Así que es mi deseo que las viudas más jóvenes estén casadas y tengan hijos, que controlen a sus familias y que no le den al Maligno la oportunidad de decir nada en contra de ellos,
15 For now summe ben turned abak aftir Sathanas.
Porque incluso ahora algunos se han descarriado y ahora siguen a satanás.
16 If ony feithful man hath widewis, mynystre he to hem, that the chirche be not greuyd, that it suffice to hem that ben very widewis.
Si alguna mujer de la fe tiene parientes que son viudas, que ella les dé ayuda, para que el cuidado de ellos no llegue a la iglesia, y así pueda ayudar a aquellos que realmente necesitan.
17 The prestis that ben wel gouernoures, be thei had worthi to double onour; moost thei that trauelen in word and teching.
Que los ancianos que cumplen bien su función es bueno sean honrados y bien remunerados, especialmente aquellos cuyo trabajo es predicar y enseñar.
18 For scripture seith, Thou schalt not bridil the mouth of the oxe threischinge, and, A werk man is worthi his hire.
Porque los Escritos dicen: No es correcto impedir que el buey tome el grano cuando lo está aplastando. Y, el trabajador tiene derecho a su recompensa.
19 Nyle thou resseyue accusyng ayens a preest, but vndur tweyne or thre witnessis.
No tomen como cierta cualquier declaración hecha contra alguien en autoridad, pero solo si dos o tres dan testimonio de ello.
20 But reproue thou men that synnen bifor alle men, that also othere haue drede.
Reprende a los pecadores cuando todos estén presentes en la congregación, para que el resto tenga miedo.
21 Y preie bifor God, and Jhesu Crist, and hise chosun aungelis, that thou kepe these thingis with oute preiudice, and do no thing in bowynge `in to the othere side.
Te doy órdenes ante Dios y Jesucristo y los ángeles altísimos de Dios, para guardar estas órdenes sin favoritismos por Nadie.
22 Put thou hondis to no man, nether anoon comyne thou with othere mennus synnes. Kepe thi silf chast.
No pongas las manos sobre ningún hombre sin pensar, y no participes de los pecados de los demás: mantente limpio.
23 Nyle thou yit drinke watir, but vse a litil wyn, for thi stomac, and `for thin ofte fallynge infirmytees.
No tomes solo agua como tu bebida, sino toma un poco de vino por el bien de tu estómago, y porque estás frecuentemente enfermo.
24 Sum mennus synnes ben opyn, bifor goynge to dom; but of summen thei comen aftir.
Los pecados de algunos hombres se ven claramente, yendo delante de ellos para ser juzgados; pero con otros, sus pecados van tras ellos.
25 And also goode dedis ben opyn, and tho that han hem in othere maner, moun not be hid.
Del mismo modo, hay buenas obras que se ven claramente; y aquellos que no son así, no pueden mantenerse en secreto.
