1 Thessalonians 5
1 But, britheren, of tymes and momentis ye neden not that Y write to you.
Irmãos e irmãs, não precisamos escrever nada a vocês a respeito dos momentos e das datas proféticas.
2 For ye silf witen diligentli, that the dai of the Lord schal come, as a theef in the niyt.
Vocês sabem muito bem que o Dia do Senhor virá como um ladrão durante a noite.
3 For whanne thei schulen seie pees is, and sikirnesse, thanne sudeyn deth schal come on hem, as sorewe to a womman that is with child, and thei schulen not scape.
Quando as pessoas falarem que tudo está em paz e seguro, é que, de repente, a ruína cairá sobre elas. As pessoas certamente não escaparão, pois será como uma mulher que está em trabalho de parto.
4 But, britheren, ye ben not in derknessis, that the ilke dai as a theef catche you.
Mas vocês, irmãos e irmãs, não estão no escuro, sem saber sobre isso. Por essa razão, não serão pegos de surpresa quando o Dia do Senhor chegar, de repente, como um ladrão.
5 For alle ye ben the sones of liyt, and sones of dai; we ben not of niyt, nether of derknessis.
Pois todos vocês são filhos da luz e filhos do dia. Nós não pertencemos à noite ou às trevas.
6 Therfor slepe we not as othere; but wake we, and be we sobre.
Então, não devemos estar dormindo como todos os outros. Pelo contrário, devemos estar alerta e sóbrios.
7 For thei that slepen, slepen in the niyt, and thei that ben drunkun, ben drunkun in the niyt.
Porque é durante a noite que as pessoas dormem e é durante a noite quando ficam bêbadas.
8 But we that ben of the dai, ben sobre, clothid in the haburioun of feith and of charite, and in the helme of hope of heelthe.
Mas, como nós pertencemos ao dia, devemos manter nossas mentes limpas; devemos vestir a armadura da verdade e do amor e colocar o capacete da esperança da salvação.
9 For God puttide not vs in to wraththe, but in to the purchasing of heelthe bi oure Lord Jhesu Crist, that was deed for vs;
Pois Deus não nos reservou a punição, mas, sim, a salvação, por meio do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
10 that whether we waken, whether we slepen, we lyue togidere with him.
Ele é aquele que morreu por nós, para que possamos viver com ele, tanto se estivermos vivos quanto se estivermos mortos quando ele chegar.
11 For which thing comforte ye togidere, and edefie ye ech other, as ye doon.
Então, incentivem e fortaleçam uns aos outros, exatamente como fazem agora.
12 And, britheren, we preien you, that ye knowen hem that trauelen among you, and ben souereyns to you in the Lord, and techen you,
Irmãos e irmãs, nós pedimos para que respeitem as pessoas que trabalham com vocês, que os levam ao Senhor e que os ensinam.
13 that ye han hem more aboundantli in charyte; and for the werk of hem, haue ye pees with hem.
Vocês devem ter amor por elas e valorizá-las muito, pelo trabalho que elas realizam. Vivam em paz uns com os outros.
14 And, britheren, we preien you, repreue ye vnpesible men. Coumforte ye men of litil herte, resseyue ye sijke men, be ye pacient to alle men.
Nós lhes pedimos, irmãos e irmãs, para alertar aqueles que são preguiçosos, dar coragem aos desanimados, ajudar os que são fracos e ter muita paciência com todos.
15 Se ye, that no man yelde yuel for yuel to ony man; but euere more sue ye that that is good, ech to othere and to alle men.
Tenham certeza de não pagarem o mal com o mal, mas de sempre tentarem fazer o bem uns aos outros e para todas as outras pessoas também.
16 Euere more ioye ye; without ceessing preye ye;
Estejam sempre alegres,
17 in alle thingis do ye thankyngis.
nunca deixem de orar,
18 For this is the wille of God in Crist Jhesu, in alle you.
sejam agradecidos em todas as situações. Façam assim, pois é isso o que Deus, em Cristo Jesus, quer que vocês façam.
19 Nyle ye quenche the spirit;
Não atrapalhem o Espírito,
20 nyle ye dispise prophecies.
não desprezem as profecias e
21 But preue ye alle thingis, and holde ye that thing that is good.
analisem tudo. Fiquem apenas com o que é bom;
22 Absteyne you fro al yuel spice.
afastem-se de qualquer tipo de mal.
23 And God hym silf of pees make you hooli bi alle thingis, that youre spirit be kept hool, and soule, and bodi, without pleynt, in the comyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist.
Que o próprio Deus da paz os tornem completamente puros e que todo o seu ser – corpo, mente e espírito – seja mantido sem culpa para quando o nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo voltar.
24 God is trewe, that clepide you, which also schal do.
Aquele que os chama é confiável, e ele certamente fará isso.
25 Britheren, preye ye for vs.
Irmãos e irmãs, lembrem-se de nós em suas orações.
26 Grete ye wel alle britheren in hooli cos.
Cumprimentem a todos os irmãos daí com afeto.
27 Y coniure you bi the Lord, that this pistle be red to alle hooli britheren.
Eu lhes peço, em nome do Senhor, que leiam essa carta para todos os irmãos na fé.
28 The grace of oure Lord Jhesu Crist be with you. Amen.
Que a graça do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo esteja com vocês!
