1 Samuel 4
1 And it was doon in tho daies Filisteis camen to gidere in to batel; for Israel yede out ayens Filisteis in to batel, and settiden tentis bisidis the stoon of help. Forsothe Filisteis camen in to Aphet,
शमुएल का वचन सारे इस्राएल राष्ट्र में पहुंच जाता था. यह वह समय था, जब इस्राएलियों को फिलिस्तीनियों से युद्ध करने जाना पड़ा. उन्होंने एबेन-एज़र नामक स्थान पर अपनी छावनी डाली तथा फिलिस्तीनियों ने अफेक नामक स्थान पर.
2 and maden redi scheltrun ayens Israel. Sotheli whanne the batel was bigunnun, Israel turned backis to Filisteis; and as foure thousynde of men weren slayn in that batel `euery where bi feeldis;
फिलिस्तीनी इस्राएल के विरुद्ध मोर्चा बांधकर आगे बढ़े और जब युद्ध उग्र हुआ, इस्राएली फिलिस्तीनियों के सामने हार गए. उस समय युद्ध-भूमि में लगभग चार हज़ार इस्राएली मारे गए.
3 and the puple of Israel turnede ayen to tentis. And the grettere men in birthe of Israel seiden, Whi hath the Lord smyte vs to dai bifore Filisteis? Brynge we to vs fro Silo the arke of boond of pees of the Lord, and come it in to the myddis of vs, that it saue vs fro the hond of oure enemyes.
जब सेना लौटकर छावनी में आई, इस्राएलियों के पुरनियों ने विचार किया, “क्या कारण है कि याहवेह ने आज हमें फिलिस्तीनियों से हार जाने दिया? ऐसा करें, हम शीलो से याहवेह की वाचा का संदूक ले आते हैं. संदूक के हमारे साथ रहने पर फिलिस्तीनी हमें हरा न सकेंगे.”
4 Therfor the puple sente in to Silo, and thei token fro thennus the arke of boond of pees of the Lord of oostis, `that sat on cherubyn. And Ophym and Fynees, twei sones of Heli, weren with the arke of boond of pees of the Lord.
तब कुछ लोगों को शीलो नगर भेजा गया कि वे सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह परमेश्वर जो करूबों के बीच विराजमान हैं, उनकी वाचा के संदूक ले आएं. साथ एली के दो पुत्र होफ़नी और फिनिहास भी आये.
5 And whanne the arke of boond of pees of the Lord hadde come in to the castels, al Israel criede with grete cry, and the erthe sownede.
जब याहवेह की वाचा का संदूक छावनी में पहुंचा, सारे इस्राएलियों ने उल्लास में ऐसा ऊंचा शब्द किया, कि धरती कांप उठी.
6 And Filisteis herden the vois of cry, and seiden, What is this vois of greet cry in the castels of Ebrews? And thei knewen, that the arke of boond of pees of the Lord hadde come in to castels.
जब फिलिस्तीनियों ने इस हर्षनाद को सुना, वे विचार करने लगे, “इब्रियों की छावनी में यह शोर क्या है?” जब उन्हें यह अहसास हुआ कि शिविर में याहवेह का संदूक आ गया है,
7 And Filisteis dredden, and seiden, God is come in to `the castels; and thei weiliden, and seiden, Wo to vs!
फिलिस्तीनी भयभीत हो कहने लगे, “शिविर में कोई देवता उतर आया है.” वे यह भी कहने लगे, “यह एक विपत्ति है हम पर! इसके पहले ऐसा कुछ देखा-सुना नहीं गया.
8 for so greet ful ioiyng was not yistirdai, and the thridde day passid; wo to vs! who schal kepe vs fro the hond of `these hiye goddis? these ben the goddis, that smytiden Egipt with al veniaunce in deseert.
विपत्ति है हम पर! किसमें सामर्थ्य है जो हमें इन बलशाली देवताओं से छुड़ा सके? ये ही हैं वे देवता, जिन्होंने मरुभूमि में मिस्रियों पर सब प्रकार की मुसीबतों का प्रहार किया था.
9 Filisteis, be ye coumfortid, and be ye men, serue ye not Ebrews, as thei serueden vs; be ye coumfortid, and fiyte ye.
फिलिस्तीनियों, पुरुषार्थ करो. साहस न छोड़ो. ऐसा न हो कि तुम्हें इब्रियों के दास बनकर रहना पड़े, ठीक जैसे वे तुम्हारे दास बनकर रहे थे. हिम्मत बांधो और युद्ध के लिए तैयार हो जाओ!”
10 Therfor Filisteis fouyten, and Israel was slayn, and ech man flei in to his tabernacle; and a ful greet veniaunce was maad, and thretti thousynde of foot men of Israel felden doun.
तब फिलिस्तीनी युद्धरत हो गए. इस्राएल हार गया. हर एक सैनिक ने भागकर अपने तंबू में शरण ली. उस दिन भयंकर नरसंहार हुआ; इस्राएलियों के तीस हज़ार सैनिक धराशयी हो गए.
11 And the arke of God was takun; and, twei sones of Heli, Ophym and Fynees, weren deed.
परमेश्वर की वाचा के संदूक शत्रुओं द्वारा छीन लिया गया. एली के दोनों पुत्र, होफ़नी और फिनिहास युद्ध में मारे गए.
12 Sotheli a man of Beniamyn ran fro the scheltrun, and cam in to Silo in that dai, with his cloth torent and his heed bispreynt with dust; and whanne he was comen,
उसी दिन बिन्यामिन वंश का एक व्यक्ति रणभूमि से दौड़ता हुआ शीलो नगर पहुंचा. उसके वस्त्र फट चुके थे तथा उसके सिर पर धूल समाई हुई थी.
13 Heli sat `on an hiye seete, `and bihelde ayens the weie; for his herte was dredyng for the arke of the Lord. Sotheli aftir that thilke man entride, he telde to the citee, and al the citee yellide.
जब वह शीलो नगर पहुंचा, एली मार्ग के किनारे अपने आसन पर बैठे हुए उत्कण्ठापूर्वक मार्ग पर दृष्टि लगाए हुए थे, क्योंकि वह परमेश्वर की मंजूषा के विषय में बहुत चिंतित थे. जब इस व्यक्ति ने सूचना देने के लिए नगर में प्रवेश किया, संपूर्ण नगर में हाहाकार मच गया.
14 And Heli herde the soun of cry, and seide, What is this sown of this noise? And he hastide, and cam, and telde to Heli.
जब एली ने यह रोने की आवाज सुनी, वह पूछने लगे, “यह कोलाहल क्या है?” तब वह व्यक्ति तुरंत एली के पास आ गया और उन्हें स्थिति के बारे में बताया,
15 Forsothe Heli was of foure score yeer and eiytene, and hise iyen dasiwiden, and he myyte not se.
इस समय एली की अवस्था अट्ठानवे वर्ष की थी. उनकी आंखें धुंधली हो चुकी थी और वह देख नहीं सकता था.
16 And he seide to Heli, Y am that cam fro batel, and Y am that flei to dai fro the scheltrun. To whom Ely seide, My sone, what is doon?
उस व्यक्ति ने एली को सूचना दी, “मैं रणभूमि से भागकर आया हूं; मैं आज ही युद्ध से यहां पहुंचा हूं!” एली ने उससे प्रश्न किया, “मेरे पुत्र, क्या-क्या हुआ है वहां?”
17 Forsothe he that telde answeride, and seide, Israel flei bifor Filisteis, and a greet fal is maad in the puple; ferthermore and thi twey sones, Ophym and Fynees, ben deed, and the arke of God is takun.
दूत ने उत्तर दिया, “इस्राएल फिलिस्तीनियों के सामने पीठ दिखाकर भागा है, सेना की भारी हार हुई है, आपके दोनों पुत्र, होफ़नी और फिनिहास मारे गए हैं; परमेश्वर की वाचा का संदूक शत्रु द्वारा छीन लिया गया है.”
18 And whanne he hadde nemyd the arke of God, Hely felde fro `the hiye seete bacward bisidis the dore, and `was deed; for the nollis weren brokun. For he was an eld man, and of greet age; and he demyde Israel bi fourti yeer.
जैसे ही उस व्यक्ति ने परमेश्वर की वाचा के संदूक का उल्लेख किया, एली अपने आसन के पीछे की ओर, द्वार के पास जा गिरे. इससे उनकी गर्दन टूट गई और उनकी मृत्यु हो गई, क्योंकि वह वृद्ध भी थे और भारी भी. वह चालीस वर्षों तक इस्राएल के अगुए रहे.
19 Forsothe his douyter in lawe, `the wijf of Finees, was with childe, and niy the child bering; and whanne `the message was herd that the arke of God was takun, and that hir fadir in lawe was deed, and hir hosebonde, sche bowide hir silf, and childide; for sodeyn sorewis felden in to hir.
उनकी पुत्र-वधू, फिनिहास की पत्नी, गर्भवती थी. उसका प्रसवकाल नज़दीक था. जैसे ही उसने यह सुना कि परमेश्वर की वाचा का संदूक छीन लिया गया है, तथा यह कि उसके ससुर और पति की भी मृत्यु हो चुकी है, उसे प्रसव पीड़ा शुरू हो गई; वह झुकी और उसका प्रसव हो गया. मगर प्रसव पीड़ा उसके लिए असहनीय सिद्ध हुई!
20 Sotheli in that moment of hir deeth, wymmen that stoden aboute hir, seiden to hir, Drede thou not, for thou hast childid a sone. And sche answeride not to hem, for nether `sche perseyuede.
जब उसकी मृत्यु निकट आ रही थी, उसके निकट की स्त्रियों ने उससे कहा, “डरो मत; तुमने एक पुत्र को जन्म दिया है.” मगर उसने न तो उसका कोई उत्तर दिया और न ही इस समाचार पर कोई ध्यान ही दिया.
21 And sche clepide the child Ichaboth, and seide, The glorie of the Lord is translatid fro Israel, for the arke of God is takun; and for hir fadir in lawe and for hir hosebonde sche seide,
उसने अपने पुत्र को इखाबोद नाम दिया; उसका कथन था, “महिमा इस्राएल को छोड़कर जा चुकी है.” क्योंकि परमेश्वर का संदूक छीना जा चुका था, तथा उसके ससुर और पति की मृत्यु हो गई थी.
22 The glorie of God is translatid fro Israel, for the arke of God is takun.
उसने कहा, “इस्राएल से महिमा उठ चुकी है, क्योंकि परमेश्वर की वाचा के संदूक छीन लिया गया है.”
