1 Samuel 16
1 And the Lord seide to Samuel, Hou long biweilist thou Saul, sithen Y castide hym awey, that he regne not on Israel; fille thin horn with oile, and come, that Y sende thee to Ysay of Bethleem; for among hise sones Y haue purueide a king to me.
Und Jahwe sprach zu Samuel: Wie lange willst du um Saul trauern, da ich ihn doch zu gering geachtet habe, König über Israel zu sein? Fülle dein Horn mit Öl und mache dich auf den Weg: ich sende dich zu dem Bethlehemiten Isai; denn unter seinen Söhnen habe ich mir einen zum König ersehen.
2 And Samuel seide, Hou schal Y go? for Saul schal here, and he schal sle me. And the Lord seide, Thou schalt take a calf of the droue in thi hond, and thou schalt seye, Y cam to make sacrifice to the Lord.
Samuel erwiderte: Wie kann ich hingehen? Wenn Saul davon hört, wird er mich umbringen! Jahwe aber gebot: Nimm eine junge Kuh mit und sage: Jahwe zu opfern, komme ich!
3 And thou schalt clepe Ysay to the sacrifice, and Y schal schewe to thee, what thou schalt do; and thou schalt anoynte, whom euere Y schal schewe to thee.
und lade den Isai zum Opfermahl. Ich selbst werde dir dann mitteilen, was du thun sollst, und zwar sollst du mir den salben, den ich dir nennen werde.
4 Therfor Samuel dide, as the Lord spak to hym; and he cam in to Bethleem, and the eldere men of the citee wondriden, and camen to hym, and seiden, Whether thin entryng is pesible?
Samuel that, was Jahwe geboten hatte. Und als er nach Bethlehem kam, gingen ihm die Vornehmsten der Stadt unterwürfig entgegen und fragten: Bedeutet dein Kommen Gutes?
5 And he seide, It is pesible; Y cam to make sacrifice to the Lord; be ye halewid, and come ye with me, that Y make sacrifice. Therfor he halewide Ysai, and hise sones, and clepide hem to the sacrifice.
Er antwortete: Jawohl! Jahwe zu opfern, komme ich; heiligt euch und kommt mit mir zum Opfermahl! Sodann heiligte er Isai und seine Söhne und lud sie zum Opfermahl.
6 And whanne thei hadden entrid, he siy Eliab, and seide, Whether bifor the Lord is his crist?
Als sie nun kamen, und er den Eliab erblickte, dachte er: Sicherlich steht hier vor Jahwe sein Gesalbter!
7 And the Lord seide to Samuel, Biholde thou not his cheer, nethir hiynesse of his stature; for Y castide hym awei, and Y demyde not bi `the siyt of man; for a man seeth tho thingis that ben opyn, but the Lord biholdith the herte.
Jahwe aber sprach zu Samuel: Achte nicht auf sein Aussehen und seinen hohne Wuchs, denn ich habe ihn nicht gewürdigt. Denn Gott sieht nicht das an, worauf der Mensch sieht: der Mensch sieht auf den Augenschein, Jahwe aber sieht auf das Herz!
8 And Ysai clepide Amynadab, and brouyte hym bifor Samuel; which seide, Nether the Lord hath chose this.
Da rief Isai den Abinadab und führte ihn Samuel vor. Aber er erklärte: Auch diesen hat Jahwe nicht erkoren!
9 Forsothe Isay brouyte Samma; of whom Samuel seide, Also the Lord hath not chose this.
Da führte Isai den Samma vor. Aber er erklärte: Auch diesen hat Jahwe nicht erkoren!
10 Therfor Isai brouyte hise seuene sones bifor Samuel; and Samuel seide to Ysai, The Lord hath `not chose of these.
Da führte Isai Samuel seine sieben Söhne vor; aber Samuel erklärte Isai: Diese hat Jahwe nicht erkoren!
11 And Samuel seide to Isai, Whether thi sones ben now fillid? And Isai answeride, Yit `another is, a litil child, and lisewith scheep. And Samuel seide to Isai, Sende thou, and brynge hym; for we schulen not sitte to mete, bifor that he come hidur.
Da fragte Samuel Isai: Sind das die jungen Leute alle? Er entgegnete: Es fehlt noch der Jüngste, der hütet die Schafe. Samuel gebot Isai: Sende hin und laß ihn holen; denn wir setzen uns nicht, bevor er herkommt!
12 Therfor Ysai sente, and brouyte hym; sotheli he was rodi, and fair in siyt, and of semely face. And the Lord seide, Rise thou, and anoynte hym; for it is he.
Da sandte er hin und ließ ihn kommen; und er war rötlich, mit schönen Augen und wohlgebildeter gestalt. da befahl Jahwe: Auf! salbe ihn, denn dieser ist es!
13 Therfor Samuel took the horn of oyle, and anoyntid hym in the myddis of his britheren; and the Spirit of the Lord was dressid in to Dauid fro that day `and afterward. And Samuel roos, and yede in to Ramatha.
Da nahm Samuel das Ölhorn und salbte ihn in Gegenwart seiner Brüder. Da kam der Geist Jahwes über David von dem Tage an und weiterhin. Samuel aber brach auf und begab sich nach Rama.
14 And so the Spirit of the Lord yede awei fro Saul, and a wickid spirit of the Lord trauelide Saul.
Nachden nun der Geist Jahwes von Saul sich zurückgezogen hatte, quälte ihn ein von Jahwe ausgesandter böser Geist.
15 And the seruauntis of Saul seiden to hym, Lo! an yuel spirit of the Lord traueilith thee;
Da machte Sauls Umgebung diesen Vorschlag: Da dich einmal ein böser Gottesgeist quält,
16 oure lord the kyng comaunde, and thi seruauntis that ben bifore thee, schulen seke a man, that kan synge with an harpe, that whanne the yuel spirit of the Lord takith thee, he harpe with his hond, and thou bere esiliere.
so darf unser Herr nur gebieten; deine Sklaven stehen zu deiner Verfügung und werden einen Mann suchen, der ein kundiger Zitherspieler ist: wenn dann der böse Gottesgeist über dich kommt, und er spielt, so wird es dir besser werden.
17 And Saul seide to hise seruauntis, Puruey ye to me sum man syngynge wel, and brynge ye hym to me.
Saul erwiderte seiner Umgebung: Seht euch für mich nach einem Manne um, der ein geschickter Saitenspieler ist, und bringt ihn mir her!
18 And oon of the children answeride and seide, Lo! Y siy the sone of Ysai of Bethleem, kunnynge to synge, and `strongeste in myyt, and `a man able to batel, and prudent in wordis, and a feir man; and the Lord is with hym.
da nahm einer von den Dienern das Wort und sprach: Ich habe da einen Sohn des Bethlehemiten Isai gesehen, der ist des Saitenspiels kundig, ein tüchtiger Mann und kriegsgeübt, dazu des Wortes mächtig und ein Mann von schöner Gestalt, und Jahwe ist mit ihm!
19 Therfor Saul sente messangeris to Ysay, and seide, Sende thou to me Dauid thi sone, `which is in the lesewis.
Da schickte Saul Boten an Isai und ließ ihm sagen: Schicke mir deinen Sohn David, der bei den Schafen ist!
20 Therfor Isai took an asse `ful of looues, and a galoun of wyn, and a `kyde of geet; and sente bi the hond of Dauid his sone to Saul.
Da nahm Isai zehn Brotlaibe, einen Schlauch Wein und ein Ziegenböckchen und schickte es durch seinen Sohn David an Saul.
21 And Dauid cam to Saul, and stood bifor hym; and Saul louyde hym greetli, and he was maad `his squyer.
Als nun David zu Saul kam und bei ihm Dienste tat, gewann er ihn sehr lieb, sodaß er sein Eaffenträger wurde.
22 And Saul sente to Isay, and seide, Dauid stonde in my siyt, for he foond grace in myn iyen.
Da schickte Saul zu Isai und ließ ihm sagen: Laß doch David in meinen Dienst treten, denn er gefällt mir wohl!
23 Therfor whanne euer the wickid spirit of the Lord took Saul, Dauid took the harpe, and smoot with his hond, and Saul was coumfortid, and he hadde liytere; for the wickid spirit yede awey fro hym.
So oft hernach der Gottesgeist über Saul kam, griff David zur Zither und spielte: da wurde es Saul leichter und besser, und der böse Geist zog sich von ihm zurück.
