1 Kings 4
1 `Forsothe kyng Salomon was regnynge on al Israel.
Le roi Salomon était roi de tout Israël.
2 And these weren the princes which he hadde; Azarie, sone of Sadoch, preest;
Voici les princes qu'il avait: Azaria, fils de Tsadok, prêtre;
3 Helioreb, and Haia, sones of Sila, `weren scryueyns; Josophat, sone of Achilud, was chaunseler;
Elihoreph et Achija, fils de Schisha, scribes; Josaphat, fils d'Ahilud, archiviste;
4 Banaie, sone of Joiada, was on the oost; forsothe Sadoch and Abiathar weren preestis;
Benaja, fils de Jehojada, chef de l'armée; Tsadok et Abiathar, prêtres;
5 Azarie, sone of Nathan, was on hem that stoden niy the kyng; Zabul, the sone of Nathan, was preest, `that is, greet and worschipful, a freend of the kyng;
Azaria, fils de Nathan, était à la tête des officiers; Zabud, fils de Nathan, était ministre en chef, ami du roi;
6 and Ahiasar was stiward of the hows; and Adonyram, sone of Adda, was on the tributis.
Ahishar était à la tête de la maison; Adoniram, fils d'Abda, était à la tête des hommes soumis au travail forcé.
7 Forsothe Salomon hadde twelue `prefectis, ether cheef minystrys, on al Israel, that yauen lijflode to the kyng, and to his hows; sotheli bi ech monethe bi it silf in the yeer, ech prefect bi hym silf mynystride necessaries.
Salomon avait douze officiers sur tout Israël, qui fournissaient la nourriture au roi et à sa famille. Chaque homme devait faire des provisions pour un mois de l'année.
8 And these ben the names of hem; Benhur, in the hil of Effraym;
Voici leurs noms: Ben Hur, dans la montagne d'Éphraïm;
9 Bendechar, in Macces, and in Salebbym, and in Bethsames, and in Helon, and in Bethanan;
Ben Deker, à Makaz, à Shaalbim, à Beth Shemesh et à Elon Beth Hanan;
10 Beneseth, in Araboth; forsothe Socco, and al the lond of Epher was his;
Ben Hesed, à Arubboth (Socoh et tout le pays de Hepher lui appartenaient);
11 Benabidanab, whos was al Neptad, hadde Dortaphaed, `Solomons douyter, to wijf.
Ben Abinadab, dans toute la hauteur de Dor (il avait pour femme Taphath, la fille de Salomon);
12 Bena, sone of Achilud, gouernyde Thaneth, and Mageddo, and al Bethsan, which is bisidis Sarthana, vndur Jezrael, fro Bethsan `til to Abelmeula, euene ayens Zelmaan.
Baana, fils d'Ahilud, à Taanach et à Megiddo, et tout Beth Shean qui est à côté de Zarethan, au-dessous de Jezreel, depuis Beth Shean jusqu'à Abel Meholah, jusqu'au-delà de Jokmeam;
13 Bengaber in Ramoth of Galaad hadde Anothiair, of the sone of Manasses, in Galaad; he was souereyn in al the cuntrey of Argob, which is in Basan, to sixti greet citees and wallid, that hadden brasun lockis.
Ben Geber, à Ramoth Gilead (les villes de Jaïr, fils de Manassé, qui sont en Galaad, lui appartenaient; et la région d'Argob, qui est en Basan, soixante grandes villes avec des murs et des barres de bronze, lui appartenaient);
14 Achymadab, sone of Addo, was souereyn in Manaym;
Ahinadab, fils d'Iddo, à Mahanaïm;
15 Achymaas was in Neptalym, but also he hadde Bachsemath, douyter of Salomon, in wedloc;
Ahimaaz, à Nephtali (il prit aussi pour femme Basemath, fille de Salomon);
16 Banaa, sone of Husy, was in Aser, and in Balod;
Baana, fils de Hushaï, à Aser et à Bealoth;
17 Josephat, sone of Pharue, was in Ysachar; Semey, sone of Hela, was in Beniamyn;
Josaphat, fils de Paruah, en Issachar;
18 Gaber,
Shimei, fils d'Ela, en Benjamin;
19 sone of Sury, was in the lond of Galaad, and in the lond of Seon, kyng of Amorrey, and of Og, kyng of Basan, on alle thingis, that weren in that lond.
Geber, fils d'Uri, dans le pays de Galaad, le pays de Sihon, roi des Amorites, et d'Og, roi de Basan.
20 Juda and Israel weren vnnoumbrable, as the soond of the see in multitude, etynge, and drynkynge, and beynge glad.
Juda et Israël étaient en foule comme le sable qui est au bord de la mer, mangeant, buvant et s'amusant.
21 Forsothe Solomon was in his lordschip, and hadde alle rewmes, as fro the flood of the lond of Filisteis `til to the laste part of Egipt, of men offrynge yiftis to hym, and seruynge to hym, in alle the daies of his lijf.
Salomon régnait sur tous les royaumes, depuis le fleuve jusqu'au pays des Philistins et jusqu'à la frontière de l'Égypte. Ils apportaient un tribut et servaient Salomon tous les jours de sa vie.
22 Forsothe the mete of Salomon was bi ech day, thritti chorus of clene flour of whete, and sixti chorus of mele,
La provision de Salomon pour un jour était de trente cors de fine farine, soixante mesures de farine,
23 ten fatte oxis, and twenti oxis of lesewe, and an hundrid wetheris, outakun huntyng of hertys, of geet, and of buglis, and of briddis maad fat.
dix têtes de bétail gras, vingt têtes de bétail de pâturage et cent moutons, sans compter les cerfs, les gazelles, les chevreuils et les volailles engraissées.
24 For he helde al the cuntrei that was biyende the flood, as fro Caphsa `til to Gasa, and alle the kyngis of tho cuntreis; and he hadde pees bi ech part in cumpas.
Il dominait sur tout ce qui est de ce côté du fleuve, depuis Tiphsah jusqu'à Gaza, sur tous les rois de ce côté du fleuve, et il avait la paix de tous côtés autour de lui.
25 And Juda and Israel dwelliden withouten ony drede, ech man vndur his vyne, and vndur his fige tree, fro Dan `til to Bersabe, in alle the daies of Salomon.
Juda et Israël vécurent en sécurité, chacun sous sa vigne et sous son figuier, depuis Dan jusqu'à Beer Schéba, pendant toute la durée de Salomon.
26 And Salomon hadde fourty thousynd cratchis of horsis for charis, and twelue thousynde of roode horsis; and the forseid prefectis nurshiden tho horsis.
Salomon avait quarante mille stalles de chevaux pour ses chars, et douze mille cavaliers.
27 But also with greet bisynesse thei yauen necessaries to the boord of kyng Salomon in her tyme;
Ces officiers fournissaient la nourriture au roi Salomon et à tous ceux qui venaient à la table du roi Salomon, chacun dans son mois. Ils ne manquèrent de rien.
28 also thei brouyten barli, and forage of horsis and werk beestis, in to the place where the king was, `bi ordenaunce to hem.
On apportait aussi de l'orge et de la paille pour les chevaux et les coursiers au lieu où se trouvaient les officiers, chacun selon son devoir.
29 Also God yaf to Salomon wisdom, and prudence ful myche, and largenesse of herte, as the soond which is in the brenke of the see.
Dieu donna à Salomon une sagesse abondante, de l'intelligence et de la largeur d'esprit, comme le sable qui est au bord de la mer.
30 And the wisdom of Solomon passide the wisdom of alle eest men, and Egipcians;
La sagesse de Salomon surpassait la sagesse de tous les enfants de l'Orient et toute la sagesse de l'Égypte.
31 and he was wisere than alle men; he was wisere than Ethan Esraite, and than Eman, and than Cacal, and than Dorda, the sones of Maol; and he was named among alle folkis bi cumpas.
Car il était plus sage que tous les hommes, plus sage qu'Éthan d'Esdras, qu'Héman, que Calcol et que Darda, les fils de Mahol, et sa renommée était dans toutes les nations d'alentour.
32 And Salomon spak thre thousynde parablis, and hise songis weren fyue thousynde;
Il prononçait trois mille proverbes, et ses chansons étaient au nombre de mille cinq.
33 and he disputide of trees fro a cedre which is in the Lyban, `til to the ysope that goith out of the wal; he disputide of werk beestis, and briddis, and crepynge beestis, and fischis.
Il parlait des arbres, depuis le cèdre du Liban jusqu'à l'hysope qui pousse sur la muraille; il parlait aussi des animaux, des oiseaux, des reptiles et des poissons.
34 And thei camen fro alle puplis to here the wisdom of Salomon, and fro alle kyngis of erthe, that herden his wisdom.
Des gens de toutes les nations vinrent écouter la sagesse de Salomon, envoyés par tous les rois de la terre qui avaient entendu parler de sa sagesse.
