1 John 5
1 Ech man that bileueth that Jhesus is Crist, is borun of God; and ech man that loueth hym that gendride, loueth hym that is borun of hym.
Todo el que cree que Jesús es el Cristo nacido de Dios, y el que ama al Padre también ama a su hijo.
2 In this thing we knowen, that we louen the children of God, whanne we louen God, and don his maundementis.
¿Cómo sabemos que amamos a los hijos de Dios? Cuando amamos a Dios y seguimos sus mandamientos.
3 For this is the charite of God, that we kepe hise maundementis; and his maundementis ben not heuy.
Amar a Dios quiere decir que seguimos sus mandamientos, y sus mandamientos no son una carga pesada.
4 For al thing that is borun of God, ouercometh the world; and this is the victorie that ouercometh the world, oure feith.
Todo el que nace de Dios vence al mundo. La manera como obtenemos la victoria y vencemos al mundo es por la fe en Dios.
5 And who is he that ouercometh the world, but he that bileueth that Jhesus is the sone of God?
¿Quién puede vencer al mundo? Solo los que creen en Jesús, creyendo que él es el Hijo de Dios.
6 This is Jhesus Crist, that cam bi watir and blood; not in water oonli, but in watir and blood. And the spirit is he that witnessith, that Crist is treuthe.
Él es el que vino por agua y sangre, Jesucristo. No solo vino por agua, sino por agua y sangre. El Espíritu prueba y confirma esto, porque el Espíritu es la verdad.
7 For thre ben, that yyuen witnessing in heuene, the Fadir, the Sone, and the Hooli Goost; and these thre ben oon.
Asó que hay tres que dan evidencia de ello:
8 `And thre ben, that yyuen witnessing in erthe, the spirit, water, and blood; and these thre ben oon.
el Espíritu, el agua, y la sangre, y los tres están de acuerdo como si fueran uno.
9 If we resseyuen the witnessing of men, the witnessing of God is more; for this is the witnessing of God, that is more, for he witnesside of his sone.
Si aceptamos la evidencia que dan los testigos humanos, entonces la evidencia que da Dios es más importante. La evidencia que Dios da es su testimonio sobre su Hijo.
10 He that bileueth in the sone of God, hath the witnessing of God in hym. He that bileueth not to the sone, makith hym a liere; for he bileueth not in the witnessing, that God witnesside of his sone.
Los que creen en el Hijo de Dios han aceptado y se han aferrado a esta evidencia. Los que no creen en Dios, llaman a Dios mentirosos, porque no creen la evidencia que Dios da sobre su Hijo.
11 And this is the witnessyng, for God yaf to you euerlastinge lijf, and this lijf is in his sone. (aiōnios g166)
Y la evidencia es esta: Dios nos ha dado vida eterna por medio de su Hijo. (aiōnios g166)
12 He that hath the sone of God, hath also lijf; he that hath not the sone of God, hath not lijf.
Todo el que tiene al Hijo tiene vida; y quien no tiene al Hijo no tiene vida.
13 I write to you these thingis, that ye wite, that ye han euerlastynge lijf, which bileuen in the name of Goddis sone. (aiōnios g166)
Escribo para decirles a los que entre ustedes creen en el nombre del Hijo de Dios, para que puedan estar seguros que tienen la vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
14 And this is the trist which we han to God, that what euer thing we axen aftir his wille, he schal here vs.
Podemos estar seguros de que él nos escuchará siempre y cuando pidamos conforme a su voluntad.
15 And we witen, that he herith vs, what euer thing we axen; we witen, that we han the axyngis, which we axen of hym.
Si sabemos que él oye nuestras peticiones, podemos estar seguros de que recibiremos lo que le pedimos.
16 He that woot that his brother synneth a synne not to deth, axe he, and lijf schal be youun to hym that synneth not to deth. Ther is a synne to deth; `not for it Y seie, that ony man preie.
Si ves a tu hermano en la fe cometiendo un pecado que no es mortal, debes orar y Dios le otorgará vida al que ha pecado. (Pero no por un pecado mortal. Porque hay un pecado que es mortal, y no quiero decir que la gente deba orar por eso.
17 Ech wickidnesse is synne, and ther is synne to deth.
Sí, todo lo que no es recto es pecado, pero hay un pecado que no es mortal).
18 We witen, that ech man that is borun of God, synneth not; but the generacioun of God kepith hym, and the wickid touchith hym not.
Reconocemos que los que nacen de Dios no siguen pecando más. El Hijo de Dios los protege y el diablo no puede hacerles daño.
19 We witen, that we ben of God, and al the world is set in yuel.
Pues sabemos que pertenecemos a Dios, y que el mundo está bajo control del maligno.
20 And we witen, that the sone of God cam in fleisch, and yaf to vs wit, that we know veri God, and be in the veri sone of hym. This is veri God, and euerlastynge lijf. (aiōnios g166)
También sabemos que el Hijo de Dios ha venido, y nos ha ayudado a entender, para que podamos reconocer al que es verdadero. Vivimos en él, que es verdadero, en su Hijo Jesucristo. Él es el verdadero Dios, y es vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
21 My litle sones, kepe ye you fro maumetis.
Amigos queridos, aléjense del culto a los ídolos.
