1 John 3
1 Se ye what maner charite the fadir yaf to vs, that we be named the sones of God, and ben hise sones. For this thing the world knewe not vs, for it knew not hym.
¡Miren el amor que tiene el Padre para con nosotros! Por eso podemos ser llamados hijos de Dios, ¡porque eso es lo que somos! La razón por la que el mundo no nos reconoce como hijos de Dios es porque no lo reconocen a él.
2 Moost dere britheren, now we ben the sones of God, and yit it apperide not, what we schulen be. We witen, that whanne he schal appere, we schulen be lijk hym, for we schulen se hym as he is.
Amigos míos, ya somos hijos de Dios, pero lo que llegaremos a ser no se ha revelado todavía. Pero sabemos que cuando él aparezca seremos como él, porque lo veremos como él es realmente.
3 And ech man that hath this hope in hym, makith hym silf hooli, as he is hooli.
Todos los que tienen esta esperanza en él, asegúrense de ser puros, como él lo es.
4 Ech man that doith synne, doith also wickidnesse, and synne is wickidnesse.
Todos los que pecan son violadores de la ley de Dios.
5 And ye witen, that he apperide to do awei synnes, and synne is not in hym.
Pero desde luego ustedes saben que Jesús vino para eliminar los pecados, y en él no hay pecado.
6 Ech man that dwellith in hym, synneth not; and ech that synneth, seeth not hym, nether knew hym.
Todos los que viven en él, ya no pecan más; todos los que siguen pecando es porque no lo han visto y no lo han conocido.
7 Litle sones, no man disseyue you; he that doith riytwysnesse, is iust, as also he is iust.
Queridos amigos, no dejen que nadie los engañe: los que hacen justicia son justos, así como Jesús es justo.
8 He that doith synne, is of the deuel; for the deuel synneth fro the bigynnyng. In this thing the sone of God apperide, that he vndo the werkis of the deuel.
Los que pecan son del diablo, porque el diablo ha estado pecando desde el principio. Por eso vino el Hijo de Dios, para destruir lo que el diablo ha hecho.
9 Ech man that is borun of God, doith not synne; for the seed of God dwellith in hym, and he may not do synne, for he is borun of God.
Y todos los que son nacidos de Dios ya no pecan más, porque la naturaleza de Dios habita en ellos. Y no pueden seguir pecando porque han nacido de Dios.
10 In this thing the sones of God ben knowun, and the sones of the feend. Ech man that is not iust, is not of God, and he that loueth not his brothir.
Así es como podemos distinguir a los hijos de Dios y los hijos del diablo: todos aquellos que no obran con justicia, no pertenecen a Dios, ni aquellos que no aman a sus hermanos cristianos.
11 For this is the tellyng, that ye herden at the bigynnyng, that ye loue ech othere;
El mensaje que han escuchado desde el principio es este: debemos amarnos unos a otros.
12 not as Caym, that was of the yuele, and slouy his brother. And for what thing slouy he him? for hise werkis weren yuele, and hise brotheris iust.
No podemos ser como Caín, que pertenecía al maligno, y mató a su hermano. ¿Por qué lo mató? Porque Caín era malo, pero su hermano era justo.
13 Britheren, nyle ye wondre, if the world hatith you.
Así que no se sorprendan si este mundo los aborrece.
14 We witen, that we ben translatid fro deeth to lijf, for we louen britheren. He that loueth not, dwellith in deth.
La razón por la que sabemos que hemos ido de la muerte a la vida es porque amamos a nuestros hermanos y hermanas en la fe. Porque el que no ama sigue muerto.
15 Ech man that hatith his brother, is a man sleere; and ye witen, that ech mansleere hath not euerlastinge lijf dwellinge in hym. (aiōnios g166)
Los que odian a sus hermanos cristianos son asesinos, y ustedes saben que los asesinos no tendrán vida eterna con ellos. (aiōnios g166)
16 In this thing we han knowe the charite of God, for he puttide his lijf for vs, and we owen to putte oure lyues for oure britheren.
Así es como sabemos qué es el amor: Jesús entregó su vida por nosotros, y nosotros debemos entregar nuestras vidas por nuestros hermanos en la fe.
17 He that hath the catel of this world, and seeth that his brothir hath nede, and closith his entrailis fro hym, hou dwellith the charite of God in hym?
Si alguno de ustedes vive cómodamente en este mundo, y ve a su hermano o hermana en Cristo padeciendo necesidad, pero no tiene compasión, ¿cómo podemos decir que el amor vive en ustedes?
18 Mi litle sones, loue we not in word, nethir in tunge, but in werk and treuthe.
Queridos amigos, no digamos que amamos solo con palabras, sino mostremos nuestro amor en lo que hacemos y en la manera como demostramos la verdad.
19 In this thing we knowen, that we ben of treuthe, and in his siyt we monesten oure hertis.
Así es como sabremos que pertenecemos a la verdad, y pondremos nuestras mentes en paz con Dios
20 For if oure herte repreueth vs, God is more than oure hert, and knowith alle thingis.
cuando pensemos que estamos en error. Dios es más grande de lo que creemos, y lo sabe todo.
21 Moost dere britheren, if oure herte repreueth not vs, we han trust to God;
Así que, queridos amigos, si tenemos la tranquilidad de que no estamos en el error, podemos tener confianza ante Dios.
22 and what euer we schulen axe, we schulen resseyue of hym, for we kepen hise comaundementis, and we don tho thingis that ben plesaunt bifor hym.
Pues recibiremos de él cualquier cosa que le pidamos, porque seguimos sus mandamientos y hacemos lo que le agrada.
23 And this is the comaundement of God, that we bileue in the name of his sone Jhesu Crist, and that we loue ech othere, as he yaf heeste to vs.
Y esto es lo que él manda: que debemos confiar en el nombre de su Hijo Jesucristo, y amarnos unos a otros, así como él nos mandó.
24 And he that kepith hise comaundementis, dwellith in hym, and he in hym. And in this thing we witen, that he dwellith in vs, bi the spirit, whom he yaf to vs.
Los que guardan sus mandamientos siguen viviendo en él, y él vive en ellos. Y sabemos que él vive en nosotros por el Espíritu que nos ha dado.
