1 John 3
1 Se ye what maner charite the fadir yaf to vs, that we be named the sones of God, and ben hise sones. For this thing the world knewe not vs, for it knew not hym.
Vejam como o amor que o Pai tem por nós é maravilhoso! É por isso que podemos ser chamados de filhos de Deus, pois é o que somos! As pessoas deste mundo não nos reconhecem como filhos de Deus porque nem a Deus elas conhecem.
2 Moost dere britheren, now we ben the sones of God, and yit it apperide not, what we schulen be. We witen, that whanne he schal appere, we schulen be lijk hym, for we schulen se hym as he is.
Queridos amigos, nós já somos filhos de Deus, mas o que nós haveremos de ser ainda não se manifestou. O que sabemos é que, quando ele se manifestar, deveremos ser como Ele, pois o veremos como ele realmente é.
3 And ech man that hath this hope in hym, makith hym silf hooli, as he is hooli.
Todos aqueles que carregam em si essa esperança têm a certeza de que são puros, como ele é puro.
4 Ech man that doith synne, doith also wickidnesse, and synne is wickidnesse.
Todo aquele que peca transgride a lei de Deus, porque o pecado é a transgressão da lei.
5 And ye witen, that he apperide to do awei synnes, and synne is not in hym.
Mas, é claro que vocês sabem que Jesus veio para tirar os pecados e que não há pecado nele.
6 Ech man that dwellith in hym, synneth not; and ech that synneth, seeth not hym, nether knew hym.
Todos aqueles que vivem unidos a Cristo não vivem pecando, e todos aqueles que vivem pecando não o viram e nem o conheceram.
7 Litle sones, no man disseyue you; he that doith riytwysnesse, is iust, as also he is iust.
Meus filhinhos, não deixem que ninguém os engane. Aqueles que fazem o que é justo são justos, como Jesus também é justo.
8 He that doith synne, is of the deuel; for the deuel synneth fro the bigynnyng. In this thing the sone of God apperide, that he vndo the werkis of the deuel.
Aqueles que vivem pecando pertencem ao diabo, pois o diabo tem pecado desde o princípio. E o Filho de Deus veio para isso, para destruir o que o diabo tem feito.
9 Ech man that is borun of God, doith not synne; for the seed of God dwellith in hym, and he may not do synne, for he is borun of God.
Todos aqueles que nasceram de Deus não vivem na prática do pecado, pois a natureza de Deus vive neles. Eles não podem viver pecando, porque nasceram de Deus.
10 In this thing the sones of God ben knowun, and the sones of the feend. Ech man that is not iust, is not of God, and he that loueth not his brothir.
É assim que podemos diferenciar os filhos de Deus e os filhos do diabo. Quem não faz o que é justo não pertence a Deus, e também não estão do lado de Deus aqueles que não amam os seus irmãos em Cristo.
11 For this is the tellyng, that ye herden at the bigynnyng, that ye loue ech othere;
A mensagem que vocês ouviram desde o princípio é esta: nós devemos amar uns aos outros.
12 not as Caym, that was of the yuele, and slouy his brother. And for what thing slouy he him? for hise werkis weren yuele, and hise brotheris iust.
Não podemos ser como Caim, que pertencia ao diabo e assassinou o seu irmão. E por que ele o assassinou? Porque Caim fazia o que era mau, enquanto o seu irmão fazia o que era justo.
13 Britheren, nyle ye wondre, if the world hatith you.
Então, não fiquem surpresos, meus irmãos, caso este mundo os odeie.
14 We witen, that we ben translatid fro deeth to lijf, for we louen britheren. He that loueth not, dwellith in deth.
Nós sabemos que saímos da morte para a vida quando amamos nossos irmãos e nossas irmãs em Cristo. Quem não ama permanece morto.
15 Ech man that hatith his brother, is a man sleere; and ye witen, that ech mansleere hath not euerlastinge lijf dwellinge in hym. (aiōnios g166)
Todos aqueles que odeiam seus irmãos cristãos são assassinos, e vocês sabem que nenhum assassino tem em si a vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
16 In this thing we han knowe the charite of God, for he puttide his lijf for vs, and we owen to putte oure lyues for oure britheren.
É assim que sabemos o que é o amor: Jesus deu a sua vida por nós. Assim também devemos seguir o exemplo de Jesus e dar a nossa vida pelos nossos irmãos cristãos.
17 He that hath the catel of this world, and seeth that his brothir hath nede, and closith his entrailis fro hym, hou dwellith the charite of God in hym?
Se você estiver vivendo bem neste mundo e não demonstrar misericórdia por um irmão cristão em necessidade, como pode o amor de Deus permanecer em você?
18 Mi litle sones, loue we not in word, nethir in tunge, but in werk and treuthe.
Meus filhinhos, não amem apenas de palavras, mas mostrem o seu amor por meio de ações.
19 In this thing we knowen, that we ben of treuthe, and in his siyt we monesten oure hertis.
É assim que saberemos que pertencemos à verdade e que tranquilizaremos as nossas mentes diante de Deus.
20 For if oure herte repreueth vs, God is more than oure hert, and knowith alle thingis.
E se acharmos que estamos condenados, Deus é maior do que os nossos pensamentos, e ele sabe tudo.
21 Moost dere britheren, if oure herte repreueth not vs, we han trust to God;
Queridos amigos, se nós não nos sentirmos condenados, poderemos nos sentir confiantes diante de Deus.
22 and what euer we schulen axe, we schulen resseyue of hym, for we kepen hise comaundementis, and we don tho thingis that ben plesaunt bifor hym.
Nós receberemos dele tudo o que pedirmos, pois seguimos os seus mandamentos e fazemos a sua vontade.
23 And this is the comaundement of God, that we bileue in the name of his sone Jhesu Crist, and that we loue ech othere, as he yaf heeste to vs.
E isto é o que ele ordena: devemos ter fé no nome do seu Filho Jesus Cristo e amar uns aos outros, exatamente como ele nos mandou fazer.
24 And he that kepith hise comaundementis, dwellith in hym, and he in hym. And in this thing we witen, that he dwellith in vs, bi the spirit, whom he yaf to vs.
Aqueles que cumprem os seus mandamentos continuam a viver unidos a Deus, assim como Deus vive unido a eles. Nós sabemos que ele está em nós, por meio do Espírito que ele nos deu.
