1 Corinthians 1
1 Poul, clepid apostle of Jhesu Crist, bi the wille of God, and Sostenes, brothir, to the chirche of God that is at Corynthe,

2 to hem that ben halewid in Crist Jhesu, and clepid seyntis, with alle that inwardli clepen the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, in ech place of hem and of oure,
Церкві Божій в Коринфі, тим, хто освячений у Христі Ісусі та покликаний бути Його святим [народом], разом з усіма, хто призиває в будь-якому місці ім’я нашого Господа Ісуса Христа – [Господа] їхнього й нашого.
3 grace to you and pees of God, oure fadir, and of the Lord Jhesu Crist.
Благодать вам і мир від Бога, нашого Отця, і від Господа Ісуса Христа.
4 Y do thankyngis to my God eueremore for you, in the grace of God that is youun to you in Crist Jhesu.
Я завжди дякую моєму Богові за вас і за Його благодать, надану вам у Христі Ісусі.
5 For in alle thingis ye ben maad riche in hym, in ech word, and in ech kunnyng,
Бо в Ньому ви збагатились у всьому: і в усякому слові, і в усякому знанні,
6 as the witnessyng of Crist is confermyd in you;
оскільки свідчення про Христа підтвердилося у вас.
7 so that no thing faile to you in ony grace, that abiden the schewyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist;
Тож вам, що очікуєте з’явлення нашого Господа Ісуса Христа, не бракує жодного дару благодаті.
8 which also schal conferme you in to the ende with outen cryme, in the dai of the comyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist.
Він зміцнить вас до кінця, [щоб ви були] невинними в День нашого Господа Ісуса Христа.
9 `A trewe God, bi whom ye ben clepid in to the felouschipe of his sone Jhesu Crist oure Lord.
Вірний Бог, через Якого ви покликані до спільності з Його Сином Ісусом Христом, нашим Господом.
10 But, britheren, Y biseche you, bi the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, that ye alle seie the same thing, and that dissenciouns be not among you; but be ye perfit in the same wit, and in the same kunnyng.
Закликаю вас, брати, іменем нашого Господа Ісуса Христа, щоб ви всі говорили одне й щоб не було між вами розділень, натомість майте цілковиту єдність у думках і розумінні.
11 For, my britheren, it is teld to me of hem that ben at Cloes, that stryues ben among you.
Адже, брати мої, [люди] Хлої доповіли мені, що між вами існують сварки.
12 And Y seie that, that ech of you seith, For Y am of Poul, and Y am of Apollo, and Y am of Cefas, but Y am of Crist.
Я маю на увазі, що одні з вас кажуть: «Я – Павла!», інші: «Я – Аполлоса!», ще інші: «Я – Кифи!» або: «Я – Христа!»
13 Whether Crist is departid? whether Poul was crucified for you, ether ye ben baptisid in the name of Poul?
Невже Христос поділений? Чи, може, Павло був розіп’ятий за вас? Чи, може, ви в ім’я Павла були хрещені?
14 Y do thankyngis to my God, that Y baptiside noon of you, but Crispus and Gayus;
Я дякую Богові за те, що не хрестив жодного з вас, окрім Криспа та Гая,
15 lest ony man seie, that ye ben baptisid in my name.
щоб ніхто не сказав, що ви були хрещені в моє ім’я.
16 And Y baptiside also the hous of Stephan, but Y woot not, that Y baptiside ony other.
[Щоправда, ] я охрестив і дім Стефана, але не знаю, чи хрестив я ще когось іншого.
17 For Crist sente me not to baptise, but to preche the gospel; not in wisdom of word, that the cros of Crist be not voidid awei.
Бо Христос послав мене не хрестити, а звіщати Добру Звістку, причому не мудрістю красномовства, щоб хрест Христа не був позбавлений [своєї сили].
18 For the word of the cros is foli to hem that perischen; but to hem that ben maad saaf, that is to seie, to vs, it is the vertu of God.
Адже звістка хреста – це безумство для тих, хто гине, але для нас, спасенних, – це Божа сила.
19 For it is writun, Y schal distruye the wisdom of wise men, and Y schal reproue the prudence of prudent men.
Бо написано: «Я знищу мудрість мудрих та відкину розум розумних».
20 Where is the wise man? where is the wise lawiere? where is the purchasour of this world? Whether God hath not maad the wisdom of this world fonned? (aiōn g165)
Де мудрець? Де книжник? Де мислитель цього віку? Хіба Бог не обернув на безумство мудрість світу? (aiōn g165)
21 For the world in wisdom of God knewe not God bi wisdom, it pleside to God, bi foli of prechyng, `to maken hem saaf that bileueden.
Оскільки за великою мудрістю Бога світ, незважаючи на всю [свою] мудрість, так і не зміг пізнати Бога, [то] до вподоби було Богу спасти тих, хто вірить, через безумство проповіді [Доброї Звістки].
22 For Jewis seken signes, and Grekis seken wisdom;
Бо юдеї вимагають знаків, греки шукають мудрості,
23 but we prechen Crist crucified, to Jewis sclaundre, and to hethene men foli;
а ми проповідуємо розіп’ятого Христа – камінь спотикання для юдеїв і безумство для язичників.
24 but to tho Jewis and Grekis that ben clepid, we prechen Crist the vertu of God and the wisdom of God.
Але для покликаних – чи то юдеїв, чи то греків – Христос є силою та мудрістю Бога.
25 For that that is foli thing of God, is wiser than men; and that that is the feble thing of God, is strengere than men.
Адже Боже безумство мудріше від людей і Божа слабкість сильніша від людей.
26 But, britheren, se ye youre clepyng; for not many wise men aftir the fleisch, not many myyti, not many noble.
Брати, зверніть увагу на ваше покликання: [серед вас] небагато по-людському мудрих, небагато сильних, небагато вельможних.
27 But God chees tho thingis that ben fonned of the world, to confounde wise men;
Але Бог обрав безумне світу, щоб осоромити мудрих, і Бог обрав слабке світу, щоб осоромити сильних.
28 and God chees the feble thingis of the world, to confounde the stronge thingis; and God chees the vnnoble thingis `and dispisable thingis of the world, and tho thingis that ben not, to distruye tho thingis that ben;
Бог обрав низьке та зневажене світу, те, чого [ніби] не існує, аби скасувати те, що існує,
29 that ech man haue not glorie in his siyt.
щоб жодна людина не вихвалялася перед Богом.
30 But of hym ye ben in Crist Jhesu, which is maad of God to vs wisdom, and riytwisnesse, and holynesse, and ayenbiyng; that,
Завдяки Йому ви знаходитесь у Христі Ісусі, Який став для нас мудрістю від Бога, праведністю, святістю та відкупленням,
31 as it is wrytun, He that glorieth, haue glorie in the Lord.
адже написано: «Той, хто вихваляється, нехай вихваляється в Господі».
