1 Corinthians 1
1 Poul, clepid apostle of Jhesu Crist, bi the wille of God, and Sostenes, brothir, to the chirche of God that is at Corynthe,
Paul appelé à être Apôtre de Jésus-Christ, par la volonté de Dieu, et le frère Sosthènes,
2 to hem that ben halewid in Crist Jhesu, and clepid seyntis, with alle that inwardli clepen the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, in ech place of hem and of oure,
A l'Eglise de Dieu qui est à Corinthe, aux sanctifiés en Jésus-Christ, qui êtes appelés à être saints, avec tous ceux qui en quelque lieu que ce soit invoquent le Nom de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, leur [Seigneur] et le nôtre;
3 grace to you and pees of God, oure fadir, and of the Lord Jhesu Crist.
Que la grâce et la paix vous soient données par Dieu notre Père, et par le Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
4 Y do thankyngis to my God eueremore for you, in the grace of God that is youun to you in Crist Jhesu.
Je rends toujours grâces à mon Dieu à cause de vous, pour la grâce de Dieu qui vous a été donnée en Jésus-Christ;
5 For in alle thingis ye ben maad riche in hym, in ech word, and in ech kunnyng,
De ce qu'en toutes choses vous êtes enrichis en lui de tout don de parole, et de toute connaissance;
6 as the witnessyng of Crist is confermyd in you;
Selon que le témoignage de Jésus-Christ a été confirmé en vous;
7 so that no thing faile to you in ony grace, that abiden the schewyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist;
Tellement qu'il ne vous manque aucun don, pendant que vous attendez la manifestation de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ,
8 which also schal conferme you in to the ende with outen cryme, in the dai of the comyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist.
Qui aussi vous affermira jusqu’à la fin, pour être irrépréhensibles en la journée de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
9 `A trewe God, bi whom ye ben clepid in to the felouschipe of his sone Jhesu Crist oure Lord.
[Et] Dieu, par qui vous avez été appelés à la communion de son Fils Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur, est fidèle.
10 But, britheren, Y biseche you, bi the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, that ye alle seie the same thing, and that dissenciouns be not among you; but be ye perfit in the same wit, and in the same kunnyng.
Or je vous prie, mes frères, par le Nom de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, que vous parliez tous un même langage, et qu'il n'y ait point de divisions entre vous, mais que vous soyez bien unis dans un même sentiment, et dans un même avis.
11 For, my britheren, it is teld to me of hem that ben at Cloes, that stryues ben among you.
Car, mes frères, il m'a été dit de vous par ceux [qui sont de chez] Chloé, qu'il y a des dissensions parmi vous.
12 And Y seie that, that ech of you seith, For Y am of Poul, and Y am of Apollo, and Y am of Cefas, but Y am of Crist.
Voici donc ce que je dis, c'est que chacun de vous dit: pour moi, je suis de Paul; et moi je suis d'Apollos; et moi, de Céphas; et moi, de Christ.
13 Whether Crist is departid? whether Poul was crucified for you, ether ye ben baptisid in the name of Poul?
Christ est-il divisé? Paul a-t-il été crucifié pour vous? ou avez-vous été baptisés au nom de Paul?
14 Y do thankyngis to my God, that Y baptiside noon of you, but Crispus and Gayus;
Je rends grâces à Dieu que je n'ai baptisé aucun de vous, sinon Crispus et Gaïus;
15 lest ony man seie, that ye ben baptisid in my name.
Afin que personne ne dise que j'ai baptisé en mon nom.
16 And Y baptiside also the hous of Stephan, but Y woot not, that Y baptiside ony other.
J'ai bien aussi baptisé la famille de Stéphanas; du reste, je ne sais pas si j'ai baptisé quelque autre.
17 For Crist sente me not to baptise, but to preche the gospel; not in wisdom of word, that the cros of Crist be not voidid awei.
Car Christ ne m'a pas envoyé pour baptiser, mais pour évangéliser, non point avec les discours de la sagesse [humaine], afin que la croix de Christ ne soit point anéantie.
18 For the word of the cros is foli to hem that perischen; but to hem that ben maad saaf, that is to seie, to vs, it is the vertu of God.
Car la parole de la croix est une folie à ceux qui périssent; mais à nous qui obtenons le salut, elle est la vertu de Dieu.
19 For it is writun, Y schal distruye the wisdom of wise men, and Y schal reproue the prudence of prudent men.
Vu qu'il est écrit: j'abolirai la sagesse des sages, et j'anéantirai l'intelligence des hommes intelligents.
20 Where is the wise man? where is the wise lawiere? where is the purchasour of this world? Whether God hath not maad the wisdom of this world fonned? (aiōn g165)
Où est le sage? où est le Scribe? où est le Disputeur de ce Siècle? Dieu n'a-t-il pas manifesté la folie de la sagesse de ce monde? (aiōn g165)
21 For the world in wisdom of God knewe not God bi wisdom, it pleside to God, bi foli of prechyng, `to maken hem saaf that bileueden.
Car puisqu'en la sapience de Dieu, le monde n'a point connu Dieu par la sagesse, le bon plaisir de Dieu a été de sauver les croyants par la folie de la prédication.
22 For Jewis seken signes, and Grekis seken wisdom;
Car les Juifs demandent des miracles, et les Grecs cherchent la sagesse.
23 but we prechen Crist crucified, to Jewis sclaundre, and to hethene men foli;
Mais pour nous, nous prêchons Christ crucifié, qui est un scandale pour les Juifs, et une folie pour les Grecs.
24 but to tho Jewis and Grekis that ben clepid, we prechen Crist the vertu of God and the wisdom of God.
A ceux, dis-je, qui sont appelés tant Juifs que Grecs, [nous leur prêchons] Christ, la puissance de Dieu, et la sagesse de Dieu.
25 For that that is foli thing of God, is wiser than men; and that that is the feble thing of God, is strengere than men.
Parce que la folie de Dieu est plus sage que les hommes, et la faiblesse de Dieu est plus forte que les hommes.
26 But, britheren, se ye youre clepyng; for not many wise men aftir the fleisch, not many myyti, not many noble.
Car, mes frères, vous voyez votre vocation, que vous n'êtes pas beaucoup de sages selon la chair, ni beaucoup de puissants, ni beaucoup de nobles.
27 But God chees tho thingis that ben fonned of the world, to confounde wise men;
Mais Dieu a choisi les choses folles de ce monde, pour rendre confuses les sages; et Dieu a choisi les choses faibles de ce monde, pour rendre confuses les fortes;
28 and God chees the feble thingis of the world, to confounde the stronge thingis; and God chees the vnnoble thingis `and dispisable thingis of the world, and tho thingis that ben not, to distruye tho thingis that ben;
Et Dieu a choisi les choses viles de ce monde, et les méprisées, même celles qui ne sont point, pour abolir celles qui sont.
29 that ech man haue not glorie in his siyt.
Afin que nulle chair ne se glorifie devant lui.
30 But of hym ye ben in Crist Jhesu, which is maad of God to vs wisdom, and riytwisnesse, and holynesse, and ayenbiyng; that,
Or c'est par lui que vous êtes en Jésus-Christ, qui vous a été fait de la part de Dieu sagesse, justice, sanctification, et rédemption;
31 as it is wrytun, He that glorieth, haue glorie in the Lord.
Afin que comme il est écrit, celui qui se glorifie, se glorifie au Seigneur.
