1 Corinthians 14
1 Sue ye charite, loue ye spiritual thingis, but more that ye prophecien.
Follow depois de amar e desejar sinceramente dons espirituais, mas especialmente que você possa profetizar.
2 And he that spekith in tunge, spekith not to men, but to God; for no man herith. But the spirit spekith mysteries.
Pois aquele que fala em outra língua não fala aos homens, mas a Deus, pois ninguém entende, mas no Espírito fala mistérios.
3 For he that prophecieth, spekith to men to edificacioun, and monestyng, and coumfortyng.
Mas aquele que profetiza fala aos homens para sua edificação, exortação e consolação.
4 He that spekith in tunge, edifieth hym silf; but he that prophecieth, edifieth the chirche of God.
Aquele que fala em outra língua edifica-se a si mesmo, mas aquele que profetiza edifica a assembléia.
5 And Y wole, that alle ye speke in tungis, but more that ye prophecie. For he that prophecieth, is more than he that spekith in langagis; but perauenture he expoune, that the chirche take edificacioun.
Agora desejo que todos vocês falem com outras línguas, mas ainda mais que profetizem. Pois é maior aquele que profetiza do que aquele que fala com outras línguas, a menos que interprete, que a assembléia pode ser edificada.
6 But now, britheren, if Y come to you, and speke in langagis, what schal Y profite to you, but if Y speke to you ethir in reuelacioun, ethir in science, ethir in prophecie, ether in techyng?
Mas agora, irmãos, se eu for até vocês falando com outros idiomas, o que lhes aproveitaria se eu não falasse com vocês por meio de revelação, ou de conhecimento, ou de profecia, ou de ensino?
7 For tho thingis that ben withouten soule, and yyueth voices, ethir pipe, ether harpe, but tho yyuen distinccioun of sownyngis, hou schal it be knowun that is sungun, ether that that is trumpid?
Mesmo as coisas sem vida que fazem um som, seja cano ou harpa, se não dessem uma distinção nos sons, como seria conhecido o que é canalizado ou harpado?
8 For if a trumpe yyue an vncerteyn soune, who schal make hym silf redi to batel?
Pois se a trombeta emitisse um som incerto, quem se prepararia para a guerra?
9 So but ye yyuen an opyn word bi tunge, hou schal that that is seid be knowun? For ye schulen be spekynge in veyn.
Então você também, a menos que proferisse palavras fáceis de entender pela língua, como se saberia o que é falado? Pois você estaria falando para o ar.
10 There ben many kyndis of langagis in this world, and no thing is with outen vois.
Existem, talvez existam, tantos tipos de idiomas no mundo, e nenhum deles é desprovido de significado.
11 But if Y knowe not the vertu of a vois, Y schal be to hym, to whom Y schal speke, a barbarik; and he that spekith to me, schal be a barbarik.
Se então eu não soubesse o significado da língua, eu seria para aquele que fala um estrangeiro, e aquele que fala seria um estrangeiro para mim.
12 So ye, for ye ben loueris of spiritis, seke ye that ye be plenteuouse to edificacioun of the chirche.
Assim também vocês, como são zelosos por dons espirituais, buscam que possam abundar na construção da assembléia.
13 And therfor he that spekith in langage, preie, that he expowne.
Portanto, deixe que aquele que fala em outro idioma ore para que ele possa interpretar.
14 For if Y preye in tunge, my spirit preieth; myn vndurstondyng is with outen fruyt.
Pois se eu rezar em outra língua, meu espírito reza, mas minha compreensão é infrutífera.
15 What thanne? Y schal preye in spirit, Y schal preye in mynde; Y schal seie salm, in spirit, Y schal seie salm also in mynde.
O que devo fazer? Rezarei com o espírito, e rezarei também com a compreensão. Cantarei com o espírito, e cantarei também com a compreensão.
16 For if thou blessist in spirit, who fillith the place of an ydiot, hou schal he seie Amen on thi blessyng, for he woot not, what thou seist?
Caso contrário, se você abençoar com o espírito, como aquele que ocupa o lugar do desaprendido dirá o “Amém” na sua entrega de agradecimento, vendo que ele não sabe o que você diz?
17 For thou doist wel thankyngis, but an othir man is not edefied.
Para você certamente agradece muito bem, mas a outra pessoa não é construída.
18 Y thanke my God, for Y speke in the langage of alle you;
Agradeço a meu Deus, falo mais com outras línguas do que todos vocês.
19 but in the chirche Y wole speke fyue wordis in my wit, that also Y teche othere men, than ten thousynde of wordis in tunge.
Entretanto, na assembléia eu preferiria falar cinco palavras com minha compreensão, para poder instruir outros também, do que dez mil palavras em outra língua.
20 Britheren, nyle ye be maad children in wittis, but in malice be ye children; but in wittis be ye parfit.
Irmãos, não sejam crianças em pensamentos, mas em maldade sejam bebês, mas em pensamentos sejam maduros.
21 For in the lawe it is writun, That in othere tungis and othere lippis Y schal speke to this puple, and nether so thei schulen here me, seith the Lord.
Na lei está escrito: “Por homens de línguas estranhas e pelos lábios de estranhos falarei a este povo”. Eles nem sequer me escutarão dessa maneira, diz o Senhor”.
22 Therfor langagis ben in to tokene, not to feithful men, but to men out of the feith; but prophecies ben not to men out of the feith, but to feithful men.
Portanto, outras línguas são para um sinal, não para aqueles que acreditam, mas para os incrédulos; mas profetizar é para um sinal, não para os incrédulos, mas para aqueles que acreditam.
23 Therfor if alle the chirche come togidere in to oon, and alle men speken in tungis, if idiotis, ether men out of the feith, entren, whether thei schulen not seie, What ben ye woode?
Portanto, se toda a assembléia for reunida e todos falarem com outras línguas, e pessoas iletradas ou descrentes entrarem, eles não dirão que você é louco?
24 But if alle men prophecien, if ony vnfeithful man or idiot entre, he is conuyct of alle, he is wiseli demyd of alle.
Mas se todos profetizarem, e alguém descrente ou iletrado entrar, ele é reprovado por todos, e é julgado por todos.
25 For the hid thingis of his herte ben knowun, and so he schal falle doun on the face, and schal worschipe God, and schewe verili that God is in you.
E assim, os segredos de seu coração são revelados. Então, ele cairá de cara e adorará a Deus, declarando que Deus está de fato entre vós.
26 What thanne, britheren? Whanne ye comen togidere, ech of you hath a salm, he hath techyng, he hath apocalips, he hath tunge, he hath expownyng; alle thingis be thei don to edificacioun.
O que é então, irmãos? Quando se reúnem, cada um de vocês tem um salmo, tem um ensinamento, tem uma revelação, tem outra língua, ou tem uma interpretação. Que todas as coisas sejam feitas para que se construam uns aos outros.
27 Whether a man spekith in tunge, bi twei men, ethir thre at the moste, and bi partis, that oon interprete.
Se algum homem fala em outra língua, que haja duas, ou no máximo três, e por sua vez; e que um interprete.
28 But if there be not an interpretour, be he stille in the chirche, and speke he to hym silf and to God.
Mas se não houver intérprete, que se mantenha em silêncio na assembléia, e que fale para si mesmo e para Deus.
29 Prophetis tweine or thre seie, and othere wiseli deme.
Deixe que dois ou três dos profetas falem, e deixe que os outros discernam.
30 But if ony thing be schewid to a sittere, the formere be stille.
Mas se for feita uma revelação para outra sessão, que o primeiro se cale.
31 For ye moun `prophecie alle, ech bi hym silf, that alle men lerne, and alle moneste.
Pois todos podem profetizar um a um, para que todos possam aprender e todos possam ser exortados.
32 And the spiritis of prophetis ben suget to prophetis;
Os espíritos dos profetas estão sujeitos aos profetas,
33 for whi God is not of discencioun, but of pees; as in alle chirchis of hooli men `Y teche.
pois Deus não é um Deus de confusão, mas de paz, como em todas as assembléias dos santos.
34 Wymmen in chirchis be stille; for it is not suffrid to hem to speke, but to be suget, as the lawe seith.
Que as esposas se calem nas assembléias, pois não lhes foi permitido falar a não ser em submissão, como também diz a lei,
35 But if thei wolen ony thing lerne, `at home axe thei her hosebondis; for it is foule thing to a womman to speke in chirche.
se desejarem aprender alguma coisa. “Que elas perguntem a seus próprios maridos em casa, pois é vergonhoso que uma esposa esteja falando na assembléia”.
36 Whether `of you the word of God cam forth, or to you aloone it cam?
O quê!? Foi de você que a palavra de Deus foi divulgada? Ou foi somente de você?
37 If ony man is seyn to be a prophete, or spiritual, knowe he tho thingis that Y write to you, for tho ben the comaundementis of the Lord.
Se algum homem se acha profeta ou espiritual, que reconheça as coisas que lhe escrevo, que são o mandamento do Senhor.
38 And if ony man vnknowith, he schal be vnknowun.
Mas se alguém é ignorante, que seja ignorante.
39 `Therfor, britheren, loue ye to prophecie, and nyle ye forbede to speke in tungis.
Portanto, irmãos, desejamos sinceramente profetizar, e não proibimos falar com outros idiomas.
40 But be alle thingis don onestli, and bi due ordre in you.
Que todas as coisas sejam feitas decentemente e em ordem.
