1 The sones of Juda weren Phares, and Esrom, and Carmy, and Hur, and Sobal.
The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.
2 Forsothe Reaia, the sone of Sobal, gendride Geth; of whom weren borun Achymai, and Laed. These weren the kynredis of Sarathi.
Truly, Reaiah, the son of Shobal, conceived Jahath; from him were born Ahumai and Lahad. These are the kindred of the Zorathites.
3 And this is the generacioun of Ethan; Jesrael, Jezema, and Jedebos; and the name of the sistir of hem was Asaelphumy.
And this is the stock of Etam: Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash. And the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi.
4 Sotheli Phunyel was the fadir of Gedor, and Ezer was the fadir of Osa; these ben the sones of Hur, the firste gendrid sone of Effrata, the fadir of Bethleem.
Now Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer was the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephratha, the father of Bethlehem.

8 Forsothe Chus gendride Anob, and Sobala, and the kynredis of Arab, sone of Arym.
Now Koz conceived Anub, and Zobebah, and the kindred of Aharhel, the son of Harum.
9 Forsothe Jabes was noble byfor alle hise britheren; and his modir clepide his name Jabes, and seide, For Y childide hym in sorewe.
But Jabez was renowned, more so than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “For I bore him in sorrow.”
10 Sotheli Jabes clepide inwardli God of Israel, and seide, Yf thou blessynge schal blesse me, and schalt alarge my termes, and if thin hond schal be with me, and thou schalt make me to be not oppressid of malice. And God yaf to hym that thing, that he preiede.
Truly, Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “If only, when blessing, you will bless me, and will broaden my borders, and your hand will be with me, and you will cause me not to be oppressed by evil.” And God granted to him the things for which he prayed.
11 Forsothe Caleph, the brother of Sua, gendride Machir, that was the fadir of Eston;
Now Chelub, the brother of Shuhah, conceived Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.
12 sotheli Eston gendride Beth, Rapha, and Phese, and Thena, the fadir of the citee Naas. These ben the sones of Recha.
Then Eshton conceived Bethrapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah, the father of the city of Nahash. These are the men of Recah.
13 Forsothe the sones of Cenez weren Othonyel, and Saraia.
Now the sons of Kenaz were Othniel and Seraiah. And the sons of Othniel were Hathath and Meonothai.
14 Sotheli the sones of Othonyel weren Athiath, and Maonaththa, that gendride Opham. Forsothe Saraia gendride Joab, the fadir of the valey of crafti men; for there weren crafti men.
Meonothai conceived Ophrah, but Seraiah conceived Joab, the father of the Valley of Artisans. For indeed, there were artisans there.
15 Sotheli the sones of Caleph, sone of Jephone, weren Hyn, and Helam, and Nahemi. And the sones of Helam weren Cenez.
Truly, the sons of Chelub, the son of Jephunneh, were Iru, and Elah, and Naam. And the sons of Elah: Kenaz.
16 Also the sones of Jaleel weren Zeph, and Zipha, Tiria, and Asrael.
Also, the sons of Jehallelel: Ziph and Ziphah, Tiria and Asarel.
17 And the sones of Esra weren Chether, and Merid, and Epher, and Jalon; and he gendride Marie, and Semmai, and Jesba, the fadir of Eschamo.
And the sons of Ezrah: Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon; and he conceived Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah, the father of Eshtemoa.
18 Also Judaia, hys wijf, childide Jared, the fadir of Gedor; and Heber, the fadir of Zocho; and Hieutihel, the fadir of Janon. Sotheli these weren the sones of Bethie, the douyter of Pharao, whom Mered took to wijf.
And then his wife, Judaia, bore Jered, the father of Gedor, and Heber, the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel, the father of Zanoah. Now there were sons of Bithiah, the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered married,

And the sons of Shimon: Amnon, and Rinnah, son of Hanan, and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi: Zoheth and Benzoheth.
21 The sones of Cela, sone of Juda, weren Her, the fadir of Lecha, and Laada, the fadir of Marasa; and these weren the kynredis of the hows of men worchynge biys in the hows of an ooth,
The sons of Shelah, the son of Judah: Er, the father of Lecah, and Laadah, the father of Mareshah, and the kindred of the house of the workers of fine linen in the house of the oath,

23 These ben potteris dwellinge in plauntyngis, and in heggis, anentis kyngis in her werkis; and thei dwelliden there.
These are the potters living in the Plantations and in the Hedges, with a king in his works, and they were dwelling there.
24 The sones of Symeon weren Namyhel, and Jamyn, Jarib, Zara, Saul.
The sons of Simeon: Nemuel and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul;
25 Sellum was his sone; Mapsan was his sone; Masma was his sone.
Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.
26 The sones of Masma; Amuel, his sone; and Zaccur, his sone; Semey, his sone.
The sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son.
27 The sones of Semey weren sixtene, and sixe douytris; sotheli hise britheren hadden not many sones, and al the kynrede myyte not be euene to the summe of the sones of Juda.
The sons of Shimei were sixteen, and there were six daughters. But his brothers did not have many sons, and the entire kindred was not equal to the sum of the sons of Judah.
28 Forsothe thei dwelliden in Bersabee, and in Molada, and in Asarsual,
Now they lived in Beersheba, and Moladah, and Hazarshual,
29 and in Balaa, and in Aason, and in Tholat,
and in Bilhah, and in Ezem, and in Tolad,
30 and in Bathuel, and in Horma,
and in Bethuel, and in Hormah, and in Ziklag,
31 and in Sicheloch, and in Betmarchaboth, and in Archasusym, and in Bethbaray, and in Saarym; these weren the citees of hem, `til to the kyng Dauid.
and in Beth-marcaboth, and in Hazarsusim, and in Bethbiri, and in Shaaraim. These were their cities until king David.
32 Also the townes of hem weren Ethan, and Aen, and Remmon, and Techen, and Asan; fyue citees.
And their towns were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities,
33 And alle the vilagis of hem bi the cumpas of these citees, `til to Baal; this is the dwellyng of hem, and the departyng of seetis.
with all their villages, on every side of these cities, as far as Baal. This is their habitation and the distribution of the settlements.
34 Also Mosobaly, and Jemlech, and Josa, the sone of Amasie,
And there were Meshobab and Jamlech, and Joshah, the son of Amaziah,
35 and Johel, and Jehu, the sone of Josabie, and the sones of Saraie, the sones of Asiel,
and Joel, and Jehu, the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,
36 and Helioneai, and Jacoba, and Sucua, and Asaia, and Adihel, and Hisemeel, and Banaia;
and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah,
37 and Ziza, the sone of Sephei, the sone of Allon, sone of Abdaia, sone of Semry, sone of Samaia.
as well as Ziza, the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah.
38 These ben princis nemyd in her kynredis, and ben multiplied greetli in the hows of her alies.
These were the names of the leaders in their kindred. And they were multiplied greatly within the houses of their marriages.
39 And thei yeden forth to entre in to Gador, `til to the eest of the valei, and to seke pasturis to her scheep.
And they set out, so that they might enter into Gedor, as far as the eastern valley, and so that they might seek pastures for their flocks.
40 And thei fonden pasturis ful plenteuouse, and ful goode, and a ful large lond, and restful, and plenteuouse, wherynne men of the generacioun of Cham hadden dwellid bifore.
And they found fat and very good pastures, and a very wide and quiet and fruitful land, in which some from the stock of Ham had lived before.
41 Therfor these men, whiche we discryueden bifore `bi name, camen in the daies of Ezechie, kyng of Juda; and smytiden the tabernaclis of hem, and the dwelleris that weren foundun there; and thei `diden awei hem `til in to present dai; and thei dwelliden for hem, for thei founden there ful plenteuouse pasturis.
So then, those whose names have been written above, went forth in the days of Hezekiah, the king of Judah. And they struck down the inhabitants who had been found there with their dwellings. And they wiped them out, even to the present day. And they lived in place of them, because they found very fat pastures there.
42 Also fyue hundrid men of the sones of Symeon yeden in to the hil of Seir, and thei hadden princes Faltias, and Narias, and Raphaias, and Oziel, the sones of Jesi;
Also, some of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went away to mount Seir, having as leaders Pelatiah and Neariah and Rephaiah and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
43 and thei smytiden the relifs of Amalechites, that myyten ascape; and thei dwelliden there for hem `til to this day.
And they struck down the remnant of the Amalekites, those who had been able to escape, and they lived there in place of them, even to this day.
