< 1 Chronicles 24 >
1 Forsothe to the sones of Aaron these porciouns schulen be; the sones of Aaron weren Nadab, and Abyud, Eleazar, and Ythamar;
And [they number] the sons of Aaron in [their] division, Nadab, and Abiud, and Eleazar, and Ithamar.
2 but Nadab and Abyud weren deed with out fre children bifor her fadir, and Eleazar and Ythamar weren set in presthod.
And Nadab and Abiud died before their father, and they had no sons: so Eleazar and Ithamar the sons of Aaron ministered as priests.
3 And Dauith departide hem, that is, Sadoch, of the sones of Eleazar, and Achymelech, of the sones of Ithamar, by her whiles and seruyce;
And David distributed them, even Sadoc of the sons of Eleazar, and Achimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their numbering, according to their service, according to the houses of their fathers.
4 and the sones of Eleazar weren founden many mo in the men princes, than the sones of Ythamar. Forsothe he departide to hem, that is, to the sones of Eleazar, sixtene prynces bi meynees; and to the sones of Ythamar eiyte prynces bi her meynees and howsis.
And there were found [amongst] the sons of Eleazar more chiefs of the mighty ones, than of the sons of Ithamar: and he divided them, sixteen heads of families to the sons of Eleazar, eight according to [their] families to the sons of Ithamar.
5 Sotheli he departide euer eithir meynees among hem silf bi lottis; for there weren princes of the seyntuarye, and princes of the hows of God, as wel of the sones of Eleazar as of the sones of Ithamar.
And he divided them according to their lots, one with the other; for there were those who had charge of the holy things, and those who had charge of the [house] of the Lord amongst the sons of Eleazar, and amongst the sons of Ithamar.
6 And Semeye, the sone of Nathanael, a scribe of the lynage of Leuy, discriuede hem bifore the king and pryncis, and bifor Sadoch, the preest, and Achymelech, the sone of Abiathar, and to the prynces of meynees of the preestis and of the dekenes; he discriuyde oon hows of Eleazar, that was souereyn to othere, and `the tother hows of Ithamar, that hadde othere vndir hym.
And Samaias the son of Nathanael, the scribe, [of the family] of Levi, wrote them down before the king, and the princes, and Sadoc the priest, and Achimelech the son of Abiathar [were present]; and the heads of the families of the priests and the Levites, each of a household [were assigned] one to Eleazar, and one to Ithamar.
7 Forsothe the firste lot yede out to Joiarib, the secounde to Jedeie,
And the first lot came out to Joarim, the second to Jedia,
8 the thridde to Aharym, the fourthe to Seorym,
the third to Charib, the fourth to Seorim,
9 the fyuethe to Melchie,
the fifth to Melchias, the sixth to Meiamin,
10 the sixte to Maynan, the seuenthe to Accos,
the seventh to Cos, the eighth to Abia,
11 the eiythe to Abia, the nynthe to Hieusu, the tenthe to Sechema, the elleuenthe to Eliasib,
the ninth to Jesus, the tenth to Sechenias,
12 the tweluethe to Jacyn,
the eleventh to Eliabi, the twelfth to Jacim,
13 the thrittenthe to Opha, the fourtenthe to Isbaal,
the thirteenth to Oppha, the fourteenth to Jesbaal,
14 the fiftenthe to Abelga, the sixtenthe to Emmer,
the fifteenth to Belga, the sixteenth to Emmer,
15 the seuententhe to Ezir, the eiytenthe to Ahapses, the nyntenthe to Pheseye,
the seventeenth to Chezin, the eighteenth to Aphese,
16 the twentithe to Jezechel,
the nineteenth to Phetaea, the twentieth to Ezekel,
17 the oon and twentithe to Jachym, the two and twentithe to Gamul, the thre and twentithe to Dalayam,
the twenty-first to Achim, the twenty-second to Gamul,
18 the foure and twentithe to Mazzian.
the twenty-third to Adallai, the twenty-fourth to Maasai.
19 These weren the whilis of hem bi her mynysteries, that thei entre in to the hows of God, and bi her custom vndur the hond of Aaron, her fadir, as the Lord God of Israel comaundide.
This [is] their numbering according to their service to go into the house of the Lord, according to their appointment by the hand of Aaron their father, as the Lord God of Israel commanded.
20 Forsothe Sebahel was prince of the sones of Leuy that weren resydue, of the sones of Amram; and the sone of Sebahel was Jedeie;
And for the sons of Levi that were left, [even] for the sons of Ambram, Sobael: for the sons of Sobael, Jedia.
21 also Jesie was prince of the sones of Roobie.
For Raabia, the chief [was Isaari],
22 Sotheli Salomoth was prince of Isaaris; and the sone of Salamoth was Janadiath;
and for Isaari, Salomoth: for the sons of Salomoth, Jath.
23 and his firste sone was Jeriuans, `Amarie the secounde, Azihel the thridde, `Jethmoan the fourthe.
The sons of Ecdiu; Amadia the second, Jaziel the third, Jecmoam the fourth.
24 The sone of Ozihel was Mycha; the sone of Mycha was Samyr;
For the sons of Oziel, Micha: the sons of Micha; Samer.
25 the brother of Mycha was Jesia; and the sone of Jesia was Zacharie.
The brother of Micha; Isia, the son of Isia; Zacharia.
26 The sones of Merary weren Mooli and Musi; the sone of Josyan was Bennon;
The sons of Merari, Mooli, and Musi: the sons of Ozia,
27 and the sone of Merarie was Ozian, and Soen, and Zaccur, and Hebri.
[That is, the sons] of Merari by Ozia, —his sons [were] Isoam, and Sacchur, and Abai.
28 Sotheli the sone of Mooli was Eleazar, that hadde not fre sones; forsothe the sone of Cys was Jeremyhel;
To Mooli [were born] Eleazar, and Ithamar; and Eleazar died, and had no sons.
29 the sones of Musy weren Mooli,
For Kis; the sons of Kis; Jerameel.
30 Eder, Jerymuth. These weren the sones of Leuy, bi the housis of her meynees.
And the sons of Musi; Mooli, and Eder, and Jerimoth. These [were] the sons of the Levites according to the houses of their families.
31 Also and thei senten lottis ayens her britheren, the sones of Aaron, bifor Dauid the kyng, and bifor Sadoch, and Achymelech, and the princes of meynees of preestis and of dekenes; lot departide euenli alle, bothe the gretter and the lesse.
And they also received lots as their brethren the sons of Aaron before the king; Sadoc also, and Achimelech, and the chiefs of the families of the priests and of the Levites, principal heads of families, even as their younger brethren.
