1 Chronicles 20
1 Forsothe it was doon after the ende of a yeer, in that tyme wherinne kyngis ben wont to go forth to batels, Joab gederide the oost, and the strengthe of chyualrie, and he wastide the lond of the sones of Amon, and yede, and bisegide Rabath; forsothe Dauid dwellide in Jerusalem, whanne Joab smoot Rabath, and distriede it.
| سال بعد در فصل بهار، فصلی که پادشاهان معمولاً درگیر جنگ هستند یوآب سپاه اسرائیل را بسیج کرد و به شهرهای عمونی‌ها حمله برد، اما داوود پادشاه در اورشلیم ماند. یوآب شهر ربه را محاصره نموده، آن را گرفت و ویران کرد. |
2 Forsothe Dauid took the coroun of Melchon fro his heed, and foond therynne the weiyt of gold a talent, and moost precious iemmes, and he made therof a diademe to hym silf; also he took ful many spuylis of the citee.
| وقتی داوود به میدان جنگ آمد، تاج گرانبهای پادشاه عمونی را از سر او برداشت و بر سر خود گذاشت. این تاج حدود سی و پنج کیلو وزن داشت و از طلا و جواهرات قیمتی ساخته شده بود. داوود غنیمت زیادی از شهر ربه گرفت و با خود برد. |
3 Sotheli he ledde out the puple that was therynne, and made breris, `ethir instrumentis bi whiche cornes ben brokun, and sleddis, and irone charis, to passe on hem, so that alle men weren kit in to dyuerse partis, and weren al to-brokun; Dauid dide thus to alle the `cytees of the sones of Amon, and turnede ayen with al his puple in to Jerusalem.
| داوود، مردم آن شهر را اسیر کرده، اره و تیشه و تبر به دستشان داد و آنها را به کارهای سخت گماشت. او با اهالی شهرهای دیگر عمون نیز همین‌طور عمل کرد. سپس داوود و لشکر او به اورشلیم بازگشتند. |

| پس از مدتی باز جنگی با فلسطینی‌ها در جازر درگرفت. سبکای حوشاتی، سفای را که یک غول فلسطینی بود، کشت و فلسطینی‌ها تسلیم شدند. |
5 Also another batel was don ayens Filisteis, in which a man youun of God, the sone of forest, a man of Bethleem, killide Goliath of Geth, the brother of giauntis, of whos schaft the tre was as the beem of webbis.
| در طی جنگ دیگری با فلسطینی‌ها، الحانان (پسر یاعیر)، لحمی را که برادر جلیات جتی بود و نیزه‌ای به کلفتی چوب نساجها داشت، کشت. |
6 But also another batel bifelde in Geth, in which a ful long man was, hauynge sixe fyngris, that is, togidere foure and twenti, and he was gendrid of the generacioun of Raphaym;
| یک بار هم وقتی فلسطینی‌ها در جت با اسرائیلی‌ها می‌جنگیدند، یک غول فلسطینی که در هر دست و پایش شش انگشت داشت، نیروهای اسرائیلی را به ستوه آورد. آنگاه یوناتان، برادرزادهٔ داوود که پسر شمعا بود، او را کشت. |
7 he blasfemyde Israel, and Jonathan, the sone of Samaa, brother of Dauid, killide hym.
8 These ben the sones of Raphaym in Geth, that felden doun in the hond of Dauid and of hise seruauntis.
| این سه مرد که به دست داوود و سربازان او کشته شدند، از نسل غول‌پیکران جت بودند. |
