1 Chronicles 18
1 Forsothe it was doon aftir these thingis, that Dauid smoot Filisteis, and made hem lowe, and took awey Geth and vilagis therof fro the hond of Filisteis;
Nachmals besiegte David die Philister und unterwarf sie und entriß der Gewalt der Philister Gath und die zugehörigen Ortschaften. –
2 and that he smoot Moab; and Moabitis weren maad seruauntis of Dauid, and brouyten yiftis to hym.
Er besiegte auch die Moabiter, so daß sie ihm tributpflichtige Untertanen wurden.
3 In that tyme Dauid smoot also Adadezer, kyng of Soba, of the cuntrey of Emath, whanne he yede for to alarge his empire til to the flood Eufrates.
Sodann besiegte David Hadareser, den König von Zoba, das nach Hamath zu liegt, als er ausgezogen war, um seine Herrschaft am Euphratstrom fest zu begründen.
4 Therfor Dauid took a thousynde foure horsid cartis of his, and seuene thousynde of horsmen, and twenti thousynde of foot men; and he hoxide alle the horsis of charis, outakun an hundrid foure horsid cartis, whiche he kepte to hym silf.
Dabei nahm David ihm 1000 Wagen, 7000 Reiter und 20000 Mann Fußvolk weg und ließ die Wagenpferde sämtlich lähmen; nur hundert Wagenpferde behielt er davon für sich.
5 Forsothe also Sirus of Damask cam aboue, to yyue help to Adadezer, kyng of Soba, but Dauid smoot also of hise two and twenti thousynde of men;
Als dann die Syrer von Damaskus dem König Hadareser von Zoba zu Hilfe kamen, erschlug David von den Syrern 22000 Mann
6 and he settide kniytis in Damask, that Sirie also schulde serue hym, and brynge yiftis. And the Lord helpide hym in alle thingis to whiche he yede.
und setzte dann Vögte über das damascenische Syrien ein, so daß die dortigen Syrer zu tributpflichtigen Untertanen Davids wurden. So verlieh der HERR dem David den Sieg auf allen Zügen, die er unternahm.
7 And Dauid took goldun arowe caasis, whiche the seruauntis of Adadezer hadden, and he brouyte tho in to Jerusalem;
Auch erbeutete David die goldenen Schilde, welche die Hofbeamten Hadaresers getragen hatten, und ließ sie nach Jerusalem bringen;
8 also and of Thebath and of Chum, the citees of Adadezer, he took ful myche of bras, wherof Salomon made the brasun see, `that is, waischynge vessel, and pileris, and brasun vessels.
und in Tibhath und Kun, den Städten Hadaresers, fiel dem König David sehr viel Kupfer in die Hände, woraus Salomo später das große eherne Becken sowie die Säulen und die kupfernen Gerätschaften anfertigen ließ.
9 And whanne Thou, kyng of Emath, hadde herd this thing, `that is, that Dauid hadde smyte al the oost of Adadezer, kyng of Soba,
Als aber Thou, der König von Hamath, erfuhr, daß David die ganze Heeresmacht Hadaresers, des Königs von Zoba, geschlagen hatte,
10 he sente Aduram, his sone, to Dauid the kyng, for to axe of hym pees, and for to thanke hym, for he hadde ouercome and hadde smyte Adadezer; for whi king Adadezer was aduersarie of Thou.
sandte er seinen Sohn Hadoram zum König David, um ihn zu begrüßen und ihm Glück zu wünschen, daß er aus dem Kriege mit Hadareser als Sieger hervorgegangen sei – Thou hatte nämlich auf dem Kriegsfuß mit Hadareser gestanden –, dazu allerlei goldene, silberne und kupferne Kunstgegenstände,
11 But also kyng Dauid halewide to the Lord alle the vessels of gold, and of siluer, and of bras; and the siluer, and the gold, which the kyng hadde take of alle folkis, as wel of Idumee and Moab, and of the sones of Amon, as of Filisteis and Amalech.
die der König David ebenfalls dem HERRN weihte, wie er es auch mit dem Silber und Gold machte, das er von allen Völkern erhoben hatte, von den Edomitern, Moabitern, Ammonitern, Philistern und Amalekitern.
12 Forsothe Abisai, the sone of Saruye, smoot Edom in the valei of salt pittis, `ten and eiyte thousynde.
Abisai aber, der Sohn der Zeruja, besiegte die Edomiter im Salztal und erschlug von ihnen 18000 Mann,
13 And he settide strong hold in Edom, that Ydumei schulde serue Dauid. And the Lord sauide Dauid in alle thingis, to whiche he yede.
worauf er Vögte über Edom einsetzte, so daß alle Edomiter Untertanen Davids wurden. So verlieh der HERR dem David den Sieg überall, wohin er zog.
14 Therfor Dauid regnede on al Israel, and dide doom and riytwisnesse to al his puple.
So herrschte denn David über ganz Israel und ließ Recht und Gerechtigkeit in seinem ganzen Volke walten. –
15 Forsothe Joab, the sone of Saruye, was `on the oost; and Josaphat, the sone of Ayluth, was chaunceler;
Joab, der Sohn der Zeruja, stand an der Spitze des Heeres; Josaphat, der Sohn Ahiluds, war Kanzler;
16 forsothe Sadoch, the sone of Achitob, and Achymalech, the sone of Abyathar, weren preestis; and Susa was scribe;
Zadok, der Sohn Ahitubs, und Ahimelech, der Sohn Abjathars, waren Priester, Sawsa Staatsschreiber,
17 and Banaye, the sone of Joiada, was on the legiouns Cerethi and Phelethi; sotheli the sones of Dauid weren the firste at the hond of the kyng.
Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, Befehlshaber (der Leibwache) der Krethi und Plethi; und die Söhne Davids waren die Ersten zur Seite des Königs.
