Titus 1
1 Paul a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for promoting the faith of God's chosen people, and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness:
Allahın qulu və İsa Məsihin həvarisi, mən Pauldan salam! Allahın seçdiyi insanların iman edib möminliyə uyğun olan həqiqəti dərk etmələri üçün təyin olundum.
Allah yolu əbədi həyat ümidinə əsaslanır. Bu ümidi yalan danışmayan Allah zaman başlamazdan əvvəl vəd etmişdi. (aiōnios g166)
3 and hath in his own times manifested his word, by the preaching, with which I was intrusted according to the commandment of God our Saviour:
Xilaskarımız Allah Öz əmrinə görə mənə əmanət edilmiş vəzlə kəlamını vaxtında aşkar etdi.
4 to Titus my son in the common faith, grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
Ümumi imana görə mənə əsl oğul olan Titə Ata Allahdan və Xilaskarımız Məsih İsadan lütf və sülh olsun!
5 For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou mightest set in order what remained, and ordain elders in every city as I directed thee:
Tamamlanmamış işləri sahmana salasan və sənə tapşırdığım kimi hər şəhərdə cəmiyyət ağsaqqalları təyin edəsən deyə səni Kritdə saxladım.
6 to wit, if any one be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, not accused of debauchery, or unruly.
Ağsaqqal seçilən şəxs nöqsansız və tək arvadlı olaraq ona sadiq olsun. Övladları imanlı olmalı, mənəviyyatsızlıqda ittiham olunan yaxud itaətsiz olmamalıdır.
7 For a bishop must be blameless as the steward of God, not self-willed, not passionate, not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of sordid gain:
Çünki cəmiyyət nəzarətçisi Allahın iş idarəçisi olduğuna görə nöqsansız olmalıdır. Dikbaş, hirsli, şərab düşkünü, zorakı, haqsız qazanca həris olmamalı,
8 but hospitable, benevolent, sober, just, holy, temperate;
əksinə qonaqpərvər, yaxşılığı sevən, ağıllı-kamallı, saleh, müqəddəs, nəfsinə hakim olmalıdır.
9 holding fast the faithful word, according as he hath been taught, that he may be able both to instruct in sound doctrine, and to convince gainsayers.
Həm başqalarına sağlam təlimlə nəsihət verməyə, həm də ona qarşı çıxanları təkzib etməyə qadir olsun deyə aldığı təlimə uyğun olan etibarlı kəlamı bərk tutmalıdır.
10 For there are many disorderly persons, vain-talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision; whose mouths must be stopped:
Çünki, xüsusilə, sünnət tərəfdarları arasında bir çox itaətsiz, boşboğaz və saxtakar insanlar var.
11 who subvert whole families, teaching what they ought not, for shameful gain:
Onları sakitləşdirmək lazımdır. Çünki onlar haqsız qazanc əldə etmək üçün lazımsız şeyləri öyrədərək bəzi ailələri tamamilə alt-üst edirlər.
12 as said one of themselves, a prophet of their own, "The Cretans are always liars, mischievous beasts, sluggish gluttons."
Onlardan biri – öz peyğəmbərlərindən biri belə demişdir: «Kritlilər daima yalançı, azğın heyvan, tənbəl qarınquludur».
13 This testimony is true: for which cause rebuke them sharply, that they may be found in the faith;
Bu şəhadət etibarlıdır. Ona görə də onları sərt bir şəkildə məzəmmət et ki, imanları sağlam olsun,
14 not attending to Jewish fables, and the precepts of men who turn away from the truth.
Yəhudi əfsanələrinə və həqiqətdən dönən insanların əmrlərinə qulaq asmasınlar.
15 To the pure indeed all things are pure; but to the polluted and unbelieving nothing is pure; even their mind and conscience is polluted.
Paklar üçün hər şey pakdır, ləkəli imansızlar üçünsə pak heç bir şey yoxdur. Amma onların həm düşüncəsi, həm də vicdanı ləkələnmişdir.
16 They profess to know God, but in works deny Him, being abominable and disobedient, and to every thing that is good void of understanding.
Onlar Allahı tanıdıqlarını iqrar edirlər, amma əməlləri ilə bunu inkar edirlər. İyrənc və itaətsizdirlər, heç bir yaxşı iş görməyə yaramazlar.
