Romans 4
1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father obtained according to the flesh?
ⲁ̅ⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁϫⲟϥ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ϫⲉ ⲁⲩϫⲉⲙϥ ⲡⲉⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ⳿ⲛⲓⲱⲧ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲥⲁⲣⲝ.
2 for if Abraham were justified by works, he hath something to boast of; but this he hath not before God:
ⲃ̅ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ⲁϥⲙⲁⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛ⳿ϩⲃⲏⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ⲓⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲉϥ ϣⲟⲩϣⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲟⲩⲃⲉ ⲫϯ ⲁⲛ.
3 for what saith the scripture? "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness."
ⲅ̅ⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲧⲉ ϯ⳿ⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲉⲫϯ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩⲟⲡⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ⲉⲩⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ.
4 Now to him that worketh the reward is not reckoned as a favor, but as a debt:
ⲇ̅ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲉⲣϩⲱⲃ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲩⲉⲡ ⲡⲉϥⲃⲉⲭⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲟⲩ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϫⲉ ⳿ϥⲉⲣⲟϥ.
5 but to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him who justifieth the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.
ⲉ̅ⲫⲏ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲉ⳿ⲛ⳿ϥⲉⲣϩⲱⲃ ⲁⲛ ⲉϥⲛⲁϩϯ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲫⲏⲉⲧ⳿ⲑⲙⲁⲓⲟ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲁⲥⲉⲃⲏⲥ ϣⲁⲩⲉⲡ ⲡⲉϥⲛⲁϩϯ ⲛⲁϥ ⲉⲩⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ.
6 As David also describeth the blessedness of the man to whom: God imputeth righteousness without works, saying,
ⲋ̅ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ϩⲱϥ ⲉⲧⲁ ⲇⲁⲩⲓⲇ ϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲙⲁⲕⲁⲣⲓⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⲛⲁⲱⲡ ⳿ⲛϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⲁⲧϭⲛⲉ ϩⲱⲃ.
7 "Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered:
ⲍ̅ⲱⲟⲩⲛⲓ⳿ⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁⲩⲭⲱ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲙⲓⲁ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁⲩϩⲱⲃⲥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲛⲟⲩⲛⲟⲃⲓ.
8 blessed is the man to whom the Lord imputeth not sin."
ⲏ̅ⲱⲟⲩⲛⲓ⳿ⲁⲧϥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲉⲧⲉ Ⲡ⳪ ⲛⲁⲉⲡ ⲛⲟⲃⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲁⲛ.
9 Now is this blessedness upon the circumcised only, or upon the uncircumcised also? for we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness.
ⲑ̅ⲡⲁⲓⲙⲁⲕⲁⲣⲓⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲁϥⲭⲏ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲥⲉⲃⲓ ϣⲁⲛ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧⲥⲉⲃⲓ ⲧⲉⲛϫⲱ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲉⲡ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲛⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ⲛⲁϥ ⲉⲩⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ.
10 How then was it accounted to him? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
ⲓ̅ⲡⲱⲥ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲩⲟⲡϥ ⲉϥⲭⲏ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲥⲉⲃⲓ ϣⲁⲛ ⲉϥⲭⲏ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧⲥⲉⲃⲓ ⲉϥⲭⲏ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲥⲉⲃⲓ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧⲥⲉⲃⲓ.
11 And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had in uncircumcision: that he might be the father of all that believe though not circumcised, that righteousness may be imputed to them also:
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥϭⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲏⲓⲛⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲡⲥⲉⲃⲓ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲫⲣⲁⲅⲓⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ ⲑⲏⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧⲥⲉⲃⲓ ⲉⲑⲣⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲛⲓⲱⲧ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲑⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧⲥⲉⲃⲓ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡϫⲓⲛⲧⲟⲩⲱⲡ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ.
12 and the father of circumcision to those, who not only are of the circumcision, but also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲓⲱⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲡⲥⲉⲃⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲥⲉⲃⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲙⲟϣⲓ ϩⲓ ⲛⲓϣⲉⲛⲧⲁⲧⲥⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧⲥⲉⲃⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲛⲓⲱⲧ ⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ.
13 For the promise made to Abraham, or to his seed, that he should be heir of the world, was not by the law, but by the righteousness of faith:
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲩϯ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲱϣ ⳿ⲛⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ⲓⲉ ⲡⲉϥ⳿ϫⲣⲟϫ ⲉⲑⲣⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉϥⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ.
14 for if they only that are of the law be heirs, faith is made useless, and the promise is become of no effect.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ϩⲁⲣⲁ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉϥϣⲟⲩⲓⲧ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲕⲱⲣϥ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲱϣ.
15 Now the law worketh wrath; for where there is no law, there is no transgression.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅⳿ⲫⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁϥⲉⲣϩⲱⲃ ⲉⲩϫⲱⲛⲧ ⳿ⲫⲙⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲃⲁⲥⲓⲥ.
16 And therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace, that so the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but also to that which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲫⲁⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲁϩϯ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲟⲩ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲉⲑⲣⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲱϣ ⲉϥⲧⲁϫⲣⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓ⳿ϫⲣⲟϫ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⳿ⲙⲫⲏⲉⲧϣⲟⲡ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲧϥ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲫⲏⲉⲧϣⲟⲡ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲛⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲛⲓⲱⲧ ⲧⲏⲣⲉⲛ ⲡⲉ.
17 (as it is written, "I have made thee a father of many nations,") in the sight of Him whom he believed, even God, who giveth life to the dead, and calleth the things that are not as if they were:
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧ⳿ⲥϧⲏⲟⲩⲧ ϫⲉ ⲁⲓⲭⲁⲕ ⳿ⲛⲓⲱⲧ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲛⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉ⳿ⲙⲑⲟ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲁϥⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲧⲁⲛϧⲟ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲣⲉϥⲙⲱⲟⲩⲧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲑⲱϩⲉⲙ ⳿ⲛⲛⲏⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉϣⲟⲡ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲛⲉ ⲉⲩϣⲟⲡ.
18 who against hope believed, with hope, that he should be the father of many nations, according to that which was said unto him, "So shall thy seed be."
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲫⲏ ⳿ⲉⲛⲁϥⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲁⲧϩⲉⲗⲡⲓⲥ ⲉⲩϩⲱⲃ ⲁϥⲛⲁϩϯ ⲉⲩϩⲉⲗⲡⲓⲥ ⲉⲑⲣⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲛⲓⲱⲧ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲛⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲁⲩϫⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲉⲕ⳿ϫⲣⲟϫ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ.
19 And not being weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, being about an hundred years old; nor the deadness of Sarah's womb.
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉϥϣⲱⲛⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲉⲁϥϯⲛⲓ⳿ⲁⲧϥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲁϥϫⲉⲙϥ ϩⲏⲇⲏ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ ⲁϥ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲣ̅ ⳿ⲛⲣⲟⲙⲡⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯⲕⲉⲙⲉⲧⲣⲉϥⲙⲱⲟⲩⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲑⲙⲏⲧⲣⲁ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁⲣⲣⲁ.
20 He hesitated not at the promise of God through unbelief: but was strong in faith, giving glory to God,
ⲕ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉϥⲉⲣϩⲏⲧ ⲃ̅ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲁⲑⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓⲱϣ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲁϥϫⲉⲙϫⲟⲙ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲉⲁϥϯⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ.
21 and being fully persuaded, that what was promised He was able to perform:
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁ ⲡⲉϥϩⲏⲧ ⲑⲏⲧ ϫⲉ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲁϥⲱϣ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲁϥⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⳿ϣϫⲟⲙ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ⲉⲁⲓϥ.
22 and therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲁⲩⲟⲡⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ⲉⲩⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ.
23 Now it was not written on his account only, that it was imputed to him:
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲛⲉ ⲉⲧⲁⲩ⳿ⲥϧⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲑⲃⲏⲧϥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲧϥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲟⲡⲥ ⲛⲁϥ.
24 but for our sakes also, to him it will be imputed, as we believe on Him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead:
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲉⲑⲃⲏⲧⲉⲛ ϩⲱⲛ ϧⲁ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁⲩⲟⲡⲥ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲉⲫⲏⲉⲧⲁϥⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲡⲉⲛ⳪ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲙⲱⲟⲩⲧ.
25 who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲁⲩⲧⲏⲓϥ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲛⲉⲛⲛⲟⲃⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲧⲱⲛϥ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲡⲉⲛ⳿ⲑⲙⲁⲓⲟ
