< Matthew 6 >

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be observed by them: otherwise ye will have no reward from your Father, who is in heaven.
ⲁ̅ⲙⲁϩⲑⲏⲧⲉⲛ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲧⲁⲓ⳿ⲟ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲁⲓϥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉ⳿ⲙⲑⲟ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲉⲑⲣⲟⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲃⲉⲭⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲧϥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲫⲏⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ.
2 Therefore when thou dost an alms-deed, do not proclaim it abroad, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues, and in the streets, that they may be applauded by men. Verily I tell you, they have their reward.
ⲃ̅⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲕⲛⲁ⳿⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲉⲑⲛⲁⲏⲧ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲉϣⲧⲁⲡ ϧⲁϫⲱⲕ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲣⲁ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲓϣⲟⲃⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲥⲩⲛⲁⲅⲱⲅⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲁⲅⲟⲣⲁ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉϯ⳿ⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϯϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲕⲏⲛ ⲉⲩϭⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲃⲉⲭⲉ.
3 But when thou givest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth:
ⲅ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲕⲛⲁ⳿⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲉⲑⲛⲁⲏⲧ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛ⳿ⲑⲣⲉ ⲧⲉⲕϫⲁϭⲏ ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉ ⲧⲉⲕⲟⲩ⳿ⲓⲛⲁⲙ ⳿⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ.
4 that thine alms may be in secret, and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will himself reward thee openly.
ⲇ̅ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲧⲉⲕⲙⲉⲑⲛⲁⲏⲧ ϣⲱⲡⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲧϩⲏ ⲡ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉⲕⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲧϩⲏ ⲡ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉϯ ⲛⲁⲕ.
5 And when thou prayest, be not like the hypocrites; for they love to pray in public assemblies, and in the corners of the streets, that they may be taken notice of by men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.
ⲉ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡ ⳿ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁⲧⲱⲃϩ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲧ⳿ⲉⲛⲉⲣ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓϣⲟⲃⲓ ϫⲉ ϣⲁⲩⲙⲉⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲟϩⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲥⲩⲛⲁⲅⲱⲅⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲗⲁⲕϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓ⳿ϣⲑⲉϩ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉⲧⲱⲃϩ ϩⲟⲡⲱⲥ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϯϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲕⲏⲛ ⲉⲩϭⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲃⲉⲭⲉ.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret, will reward thee openly.
ⲋ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲕⲛⲁⲧⲱⲃϩ ⲙⲁϣⲉⲛⲁⲕ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉⲡⲉⲕⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟⲛ ⲙⲁϣⲑⲁⲙ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲕⲣⲟ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟⲕ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲧⲱⲃϩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲕⲓⲱⲧ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲧϩⲏ ⲡ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉⲕⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲧϩⲏ ⲡ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉϯ ⲛⲁⲕ.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathens do, for they think they shall be heard for their speaking much:
ⲍ̅⳿ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁⲧⲱⲃϩ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲉⲣ ⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲉⲑⲛⲓⲕⲟⲥ ⲥⲉⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ϫⲉ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲟⲩ.
8 be not ye therefore like them; for your Father knoweth what ye have need of before ye ask Him.
ⲏ̅⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣ⳿ⲓⲛⲓ ⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ϥⲥⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲓⲱⲧ ⳿ⲛⲛⲏ⳿ⲉⲧⲉⲧ⳿ⲉⲛⲉⲣ⳿ⲭⲣⲓ⳿ⲁ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲧⲟⲃϩϥ ⲉⲑⲃⲏⲧⲟⲩ.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye,
ⲑ̅ⲧⲱⲃϩ ⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ Ⲡⲉⲛⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲫⲏⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ⲙⲁⲣⲉϥⲧⲟⲩⲃⲟ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲕⲣⲁⲛ.
10 "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done, as in heaven so also upon earth;

11 give us this day our daily bread;
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲡⲉⲛⲱⲓⲕ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲣⲁⲥϯ ⲙⲏ ⲓϥ ⲛⲁⲛ ⳿ⲙⲫⲟⲟⲩ.
12 and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;

13 and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen."
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲉⲛⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓⲣⲁⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲁϩⲙⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗϩⲁ ⲡⲓⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲑⲱⲕ ⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯϫⲟⲙ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲱⲟⲩ ϣⲁ⳿⳿ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⳿ⲁⲙⲏⲛ.
14 For if ye forgive men their faults, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲭⲱ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲡⲁⲣⲁ⳿ⲡⲧⲱⲙⲁ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉⲭⲱ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲫⲏⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲡⲁⲣⲁ⳿ⲡⲧⲱⲙⲁ.
15 but if ye forgive not men their transgressions, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙⲭⲱ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲡⲁⲣⲁ⳿ⲡⲧⲱⲙⲁ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲓⲱⲧ ⳿ϥⲛⲁⲭⲱ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲡⲁⲣⲁ⳿ⲡⲧⲱⲙⲁ.
16 And when ye fast, be not, like the hypocrites, of a gloomy countenance; for they disfigure their faces, that they may be observed by men to fast: I tell you, they have indeed their reward.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧ⳿ⲉⲛⲉⲣⲛⲏⲥⲧⲉⲩⲓⲛ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲧ⳿ⲉⲛⲉⲣ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓϣⲟⲃⲓ ⳿ⲉϣⲁⲩ⳿ⲱⲕⲉⲙ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩϩⲟ ϣⲁⲩⲧⲁⲕⲉ ⲛⲟⲩϩⲟ ⲅⲁⲣ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲉⲩⲉⲣⲛⲏⲥⲧⲉⲩⲓⲛ ⳿ⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϯϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϫⲉ ⲁⲩⲕⲏⲛ ⲉⲩϭⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲃⲉⲭⲉ.
17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head and wash thy face;
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲕ⳿ⲉⲉⲣⲛⲏⲥⲧⲉⲩⲓⲛ ⲑⲱϩⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲕ⳿ⲁⲫⲉ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲓⲁ ⲡⲉⲕϩⲟ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
18 that thou mayst not appear unto men to fast, but to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee openly.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲕ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲉⲕⲉⲣⲛⲏⲥⲧⲉⲩⲓⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲕⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲧϩⲏ ⲡ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉⲕⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲧϩⲏ ⲡ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉϯϣⲉⲃⲓ⳿ⲱ ⲛⲁⲕ.
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust corrupts, and where thieves break through and steal:
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣϩⲓⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛ⳿ⲁϩⲱⲣ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲕⲁϩⲓ ⲡⲓⲙⲁ ⳿ⲉϣⲁⲣⲉ ⳿ⲧϩⲟⲗⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⳿ⲧϫⲟⲗⲓ ⲧⲁⲕⲱⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲓⲙⲁ ⳿ⲉϣⲁⲣⲉ ⲛⲓⲥⲟⲛⲓ ϩⲓϣⲁⲧⲥ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲩⲕⲟⲗⲡⲟⲩ.
20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

22 The eye is the light of the body: if therefore thine eye be clear, thy whole body will be light;

23 but if thine eye be bad, thy whole body will be dark. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or at lest he will be attached to the one, and neglect the other: ye cannot serve God and mammon:
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ⳿ϣϫⲟⲙ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⲉⲣⲃⲱⲕ ⳿ⲛ⳪ ⲃ̅ ⲓⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥⲙⲉⲥⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥⲙⲉⲛⲣⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲓⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥϣⲉⲡ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥⲉⲣⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲟⲛⲓⲛ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲭⲉⲧ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ⳿ϣϫⲟⲙ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉⲉⲣⲃⲱⲕ ⳿ⲙⲪϯ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲙⲁⲙⲱⲛⲁ.
25 therefore I say unto you, be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body than raiment?

26 Look at the birds of the air; they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns: and yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye preferable to them?

28 And why are ye sollicitous about raiment? consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: and yet I tell you,

30 Now if God so clothe the grass of the field, which is growing to-day, and to-morrow is cast into the fire, will He not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
