Matthew 5
1 And seeing the multitudes He went up to a mountain, and when He was set down, His disciples came to Him,
அநந்தரம்’ ஸ ஜநநிவஹம்’ நிரீக்ஷ்ய பூ⁴த⁴ரோபரி வ்ரஜித்வா ஸமுபவிவேஸ²|
2 and He opened his mouth and taught them, saying,
ததா³நீம்’ ஸி²ஷ்யேஷு தஸ்ய ஸமீபமாக³தேஷு தேந தேப்⁴ய ஏஷா கதா² கத்²யாஞ்சக்ரே|
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
அபி⁴மாநஹீநா ஜநா த⁴ந்யா: , யதஸ்தே ஸ்வர்கீ³யராஜ்யம் அதி⁴கரிஷ்யந்தி|
4 Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted.
கி²த்³யமாநா மநுஜா த⁴ந்யா: , யஸ்மாத் தே ஸாந்த்வநாம்’ ப்ராப்ஸந்தி|
5 Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth.
நம்ரா மாநவாஸ்²ச த⁴ந்யா: , யஸ்மாத் தே மேதி³நீம் அதி⁴கரிஷ்யந்தி|
6 Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be satisfied.
த⁴ர்ம்மாய பு³பு⁴க்ஷிதா: த்ரு’ஷார்த்தாஸ்²ச மநுஜா த⁴ந்யா: , யஸ்மாத் தே பரிதர்ப்ஸ்யந்தி|
7 Blessed are the merciful; for they shall obtain mercy.
க்ரு’பாலவோ மாநவா த⁴ந்யா: , யஸ்மாத் தே க்ரு’பாம்’ ப்ராப்ஸ்யந்தி|
8 Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God.
நிர்ம்மலஹ்ரு’த³யா மநுஜாஸ்²ச த⁴ந்யா: , யஸ்மாத் த ஈஸ்²சரம்’ த்³ரக்ஷ்யந்தி|
9 Blessed are the peace-makers; for they shall be called the children of God.
மேலயிதாரோ மாநவா த⁴ந்யா: , யஸ்மாத் த ஈஸ்²சரஸ்ய ஸந்தாநத்வேந விக்²யாஸ்யந்தி|
10 Blessed are they, who are persecuted for righteousness sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
த⁴ர்ம்மகாரணாத் தாடி³தா மநுஜா த⁴ந்யா, யஸ்மாத் ஸ்வர்கீ³யராஜ்யே தேஷாமதி⁴கரோ வித்³யதே|
11 Blessed are ye when men shall revile and persecute you, and utter all manner of reproach against you falsly, for my sake:
யதா³ மநுஜா மம நாமக்ரு’தே யுஷ்மாந் நிந்த³ந்தி தாட³யந்தி ம்ரு’ஷா நாநாது³ர்வ்வாக்யாநி வத³ந்தி ச, ததா³ யுயம்’ த⁴ந்யா: |
12 rejoice and be exceeding glad; for great will be your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets, that were before you.
ததா³ ஆநந்த³த, ததா² ப்⁴ரு’ஸ²ம்’ ஹ்லாத³த்⁴வஞ்ச, யத: ஸ்வர்கே³ பூ⁴யாம்’ஸி ப²லாநி லப்ஸ்யத்⁴வே; தே யுஷ்மாகம்’ புராதநாந் ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நோ(அ)பி தாத்³ரு’க்³ அதாட³யந்|
13 Ye are the salt of the earth, but if the salt be grown insipid, wherewith shall it be seasoned? it is no longer fit for any thing, but to be thrown out of doors, and trodden under foot.
யுயம்’ மேதி³ந்யாம்’ லவணரூபா: , கிந்து யதி³ லவணஸ்ய லவணத்வம் அபயாதி, தர்ஹி தத் கேந ப்ரகாரேண ஸ்வாது³யுக்தம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யதி? தத் கஸ்யாபி கார்ய்யஸ்யாயோக்³யத்வாத் கேவலம்’ ப³ஹி: ப்ரக்ஷேப்தும்’ நராணாம்’ பத³தலேந த³லயிதுஞ்ச யோக்³யம்’ ப⁴வதி|
14 Ye are the light of the world: a city, that is situated on a hill, cannot be hid.
யூயம்’ ஜக³தி தீ³ப்திரூபா: , பூ⁴த⁴ரோபரி ஸ்தி²தம்’ நக³ரம்’ கு³ப்தம்’ ப⁴விதும்’ நஹி ஸ²க்ஷ்யதி|
15 Nor do men light a candle, to put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick: and then it giveth light to all in the house.
அபரம்’ மநுஜா: ப்ரதீ³பாந் ப்ரஜ்வால்ய த்³ரோணாதோ⁴ ந ஸ்தா²பயந்தி, கிந்து தீ³பாதா⁴ரோபர்ய்யேவ ஸ்தா²பயந்தி, தேந தே தீ³பா கே³ஹஸ்தி²தாந் ஸகலாந் ப்ரகாஸ²யந்தி|
16 So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father, who is in heaven.
யேந மாநவா யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸத்கர்ம்மாணி விலோக்ய யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸ்வர்க³ஸ்த²ம்’ பிதரம்’ த⁴ந்யம்’ வத³ந்தி, தேஷாம்’ ஸமக்ஷம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ தீ³ப்திஸ்தாத்³ரு’க் ப்ரகாஸ²தாம்|
17 Think not that I am come to abrogate the law, or the prophets: I am not come to abolish, but to compleat them:
அஹம்’ வ்யவஸ்தா²ம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாக்யஞ்ச லோப்தும் ஆக³தவாந், இத்த²ம்’ மாநுப⁴வத, தே த்³வே லோப்தும்’ நாக³தவாந், கிந்து ஸப²லே கர்த்தும் ஆக³தோஸ்மி|
18 for verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, not one jot nor one tittle shall pass from the law, till all be compleated.
அபரம்’ யுஷ்மாந் அஹம்’ தத்²யம்’ வதா³மி யாவத் வ்யோமமேதி³ந்யோ ர்த்⁴வம்’ஸோ ந ப⁴விஷ்யதி, தாவத் ஸர்வ்வஸ்மிந் ஸப²லே ந ஜாதே வ்யவஸ்தா²யா ஏகா மாத்ரா பி³ந்து³ரேகோபி வா ந லோப்ஸ்யதே|
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of the left of these commandments, and thereby teach men so to do, he shall be esteemed very little in the kingdom of heaven: but whoever shall do as well as teach them, he shall be accounted great in the kingdom of heaven.
தஸ்மாத் யோ ஜந ஏதாஸாம் ஆஜ்ஞாநாம் அதிக்ஷுத்³ராம் ஏகாஜ்ஞாமபீ லம்’க⁴தே மநுஜாம்’ஞ்ச ததை²வ ஸி²க்ஷயதி, ஸ ஸ்வர்கீ³யராஜ்யே ஸர்வ்வேப்⁴ய: க்ஷுத்³ரத்வேந விக்²யாஸ்யதே, கிந்து யோ ஜநஸ்தாம்’ பாலயதி, ததை²வ ஸி²க்ஷயதி ச, ஸ ஸ்வர்கீ³யராஜ்யே ப்ரதா⁴நத்வேந விக்²யாஸ்யதே|
20 For I tell you, that unless your righteousness exceed that of the scribes and pharisees, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
அபரம்’ யுஷ்மாந் அஹம்’ வதா³மி, அத்⁴யாபகபி²ரூஸி²மாநவாநாம்’ த⁴ர்ம்மாநுஷ்டா²நாத் யுஷ்மாகம்’ த⁴ர்ம்மாநுஷ்டா²நே நோத்தமே ஜாதே யூயம் ஈஸ்²வரீயராஜ்யம்’ ப்ரவேஷ்டும்’ ந ஸ²க்ஷ்யத²|
21 Ye have heard, that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever committeth murder, shall be liable to the judgment:
அபரஞ்ச த்வம்’ நரம்’ மா வதீ⁴: , யஸ்மாத் யோ நரம்’ ஹந்தி, ஸ விசாரஸபா⁴யாம்’ த³ண்டா³ர்ஹோ ப⁴விஷ்யதி, பூர்வ்வகாலீநஜநேப்⁴ய இதி கதி²தமாஸீத், யுஷ்மாபி⁴ரஸ்²ராவி|
22 but I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without cause shall be liable to the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be obnoxious to the council; but whosoever shall say, "Thou fool," shall be in danger of hell-fire. (Geenna g1067)
கிந்த்வஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந் வதா³மி, ய: கஸ்²சித் காரணம்’ விநா நிஜப்⁴ராத்ரே குப்யதி, ஸ விசாரஸபா⁴யாம்’ த³ண்டா³ர்ஹோ ப⁴விஷ்யதி; ய: கஸ்²சிச்ச ஸ்வீயஸஹஜம்’ நிர்ப்³போ³த⁴ம்’ வத³தி, ஸ மஹாஸபா⁴யாம்’ த³ண்டா³ர்ஹோ ப⁴விஷ்யதி; புநஸ்²ச த்வம்’ மூட⁴ இதி வாக்யம்’ யதி³ கஸ்²சித் ஸ்வீயப்⁴ராதரம்’ வக்தி, தர்ஹி நரகாக்³நௌ ஸ த³ண்டா³ர்ஹோ ப⁴விஷ்யதி| (Geenna g1067)
23 Therefore, if thou bring thine offering to the altar, and there remembrest that thy brother hath any complaint against thee;
அதோ வேத்³யா: ஸமீபம்’ நிஜநைவேத்³யே ஸமாநீதே(அ)பி நிஜப்⁴ராதரம்’ ப்ரதி கஸ்மாச்சித் காரணாத் த்வம்’ யதி³ தோ³ஷீ வித்³யஸே, ததா³நீம்’ தவ தஸ்ய ஸ்ம்ரு’தி ர்ஜாயதே ச,
24 leave thy gift there before the altar, and go and first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
தர்ஹி தஸ்யா வேத்³யா: ஸமீபே நிஜநைவைத்³யம்’ நிதா⁴ய ததை³வ க³த்வா பூர்வ்வம்’ தேந ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ மில, பஸ்²சாத் ஆக³த்ய நிஜநைவேத்³யம்’ நிவேத³ய|
25 Be friends with thine adversary quickly, while thou art in the way with him; least the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison:
அந்யஞ்ச யாவத் விவாதி³நா ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ வர்த்மநி திஷ்ட²ஸி, தாவத் தேந ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ மேலநம்’ குரு; நோ சேத் விவாதீ³ விசாரயிது: ஸமீபே த்வாம்’ ஸமர்பயதி விசாரயிதா ச ரக்ஷிண: ஸந்நிதௌ⁴ ஸமர்பயதி ததா³ த்வம்’ காராயாம்’ ப³த்⁴யேதா²: |
26 verily, I say unto thee, thou shalt not come out from thence, till thou hast paid the very last farthing.
தர்ஹி த்வாமஹம்’ தத்²த²ம்’ ப்³ரவீமி, ஸே²ஷகபர்த³கே(அ)பி ந பரிஸோ²தி⁴தே தஸ்மாத் ஸ்தா²நாத் கதா³பி ப³ஹிராக³ந்தும்’ ந ஸ²க்ஷ்யஸி|
27 Ye have heard, that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
அபரம்’ த்வம்’ மா வ்யபி⁴சர, யதே³தத்³ வசநம்’ பூர்வ்வகாலீநலோகேப்⁴ய: கதி²தமாஸீத், தத்³ யூயம்’ ஸ்²ருதவந்த: ;
28 but I tell you, that whosoever looketh on a woman, so as to lust after her, hath already debauched her in his heart.
கிந்த்வஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந் வதா³மி, யதி³ கஸ்²சித் காமத: காஞ்சந யோஷிதம்’ பஸ்²யதி, தர்ஹி ஸ மநஸா ததை³வ வ்யபி⁴சரிதவாந்|
29 And therefore if thy right eye cause thee to offend, pluck it out and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one part of thee perish, than that thy whole body should be cast into hell: (Geenna g1067)
தஸ்மாத் தவ த³க்ஷிணம்’ நேத்ரம்’ யதி³ த்வாம்’ பா³த⁴தே, தர்ஹி தந்நேத்ரம் உத்பாட்ய தூ³ரே நிக்ஷிப, யஸ்மாத் தவ ஸர்வ்வவபுஷோ நரகே நிக்ஷேபாத் தவைகாங்க³ஸ்ய நாஸோ² வரம்’| (Geenna g1067)
30 and if thy right hand cause thee to offend, cut it off and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one of thy limbs should perish, than that thy whole body should be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
யத்³வா தவ த³க்ஷிண: கரோ யதி³ த்வாம்’ பா³த⁴தே, தர்ஹி தம்’ கரம்’ சி²த்த்வா தூ³ரே நிக்ஷிப, யத: ஸர்வ்வவபுஷோ நரகே நிக்ஷேபாத் ஏகாங்க³ஸ்ய நாஸோ² வரம்’| (Geenna g1067)
31 And it has been said, whosoever would put away his wife, let him give her a bill of divorce:
உக்தமாஸ்தே, யதி³ கஸ்²சிந் நிஜஜாயாம்’ பரித்யக்த்தும் இச்ச²தி, தர்ஹி ஸ தஸ்யை த்யாக³பத்ரம்’ த³தா³து|
32 but I say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except on account of whoredom, tempteth her to commit adultery; and if any man marry her that is divorced, he committeth adultery.
கிந்த்வஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந் வ்யாஹராமி, வ்யபி⁴சாரதோ³ஷே ந ஜாதே யதி³ கஸ்²சிந் நிஜஜாயாம்’ பரித்யஜதி, தர்ஹி ஸ தாம்’ வ்யபி⁴சாரயதி; யஸ்²ச தாம்’ த்யக்தாம்’ ஸ்த்ரியம்’ விவஹதி, ஸோபி வ்யபி⁴சரதி|
33 Again, ye have heard, that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
புநஸ்²ச த்வம்’ ம்ரு’ஷா ஸ²பத²ம் ந குர்வ்வந் ஈஸ்²சராய நிஜஸ²பத²ம்’ பாலய, பூர்வ்வகாலீநலோகேப்⁴யோ யைஷா கதா² கதி²தா, தாமபி யூயம்’ ஸ்²ருதவந்த: |
34 but I say unto you, swear not at all; neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;
கிந்த்வஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந் வதா³மி, கமபி ஸ²பத²ம்’ மா கார்ஷ்ட, அர்த²த: ஸ்வர்க³நாம்நா ந, யத: ஸ ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய ஸிம்’ஹாஸநம்’;
35 nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King: neither shalt thou swear by thy head,
ப்ரு’தி²வ்யா நாம்நாபி ந, யத: ஸா தஸ்ய பாத³பீட²ம்’; யிரூஸா²லமோ நாம்நாபி ந, யத: ஸா மஹாராஜஸ்ய புரீ;
36 for thou canst not make one hair of it white or black:
நிஜஸி²ரோநாம்நாபி ந, யஸ்மாத் தஸ்யைகம்’ கசமபி ஸிதம் அஸிதம்’ வா கர்த்தும்’ த்வயா ந ஸ²க்யதே|
37 but let your conversation be yea, yea; no, no; for whatever is more than these, cometh from the evil one.
அபரம்’ யூயம்’ ஸம்’லாபஸமயே கேவலம்’ ப⁴வதீதி ந ப⁴வதீதி ச வத³த யத இதோ(அ)தி⁴கம்’ யத் தத் பாபாத்மநோ ஜாயதே|
38 Ye have heard, that it has been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
அபரம்’ லோசநஸ்ய விநிமயேந லோசநம்’ த³ந்தஸ்ய விநிமயேந த³ந்த: பூர்வ்வக்தமித³ம்’ வசநஞ்ச யுஷ்மாபி⁴ரஸ்²ரூயத|
39 but I say unto you, Set not yourselves against him that injures you, but if any one smite thee on thy right cheek, rather turn to him the other also:
கிந்த்வஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந் வதா³மி யூயம்’ ஹிம்’ஸகம்’ நரம்’ மா வ்யாகா⁴தயத| கிந்து கேநசித் தவ த³க்ஷிணகபோலே சபேடாகா⁴தே க்ரு’தே தம்’ ப்ரதி வாமம்’ கபோலஞ்ச வ்யாகோ⁴டய|
40 and if any one would go to law with thee, to take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also, rather than strive with him:
அபரம்’ கேநசித் த்வயா ஸார்த்⁴த³ம்’ விவாத³ம்’ க்ரு’த்வா தவ பரிதே⁴யவஸநே ஜிக்⁴ரு’திதே தஸ்மாயுத்தரீயவஸநமபி தே³ஹி|
41 and if any one shall force thee one mile, go with him two.
யதி³ கஸ்²சித் த்வாம்’ க்ரோஸ²மேகம்’ நயநார்த²ம்’ அந்யாயதோ த⁴ரதி, ததா³ தேந ஸார்த்⁴த³ம்’ க்ரோஸ²த்³வயம்’ யாஹி|
42 Give to him that asketh thee, and him, that would borrow of thee, turn not away.
யஸ்²ச மாநவஸ்த்வாம்’ யாசதே, தஸ்மை தே³ஹி, யதி³ கஸ்²சித் துப்⁴யம்’ தா⁴ரயிதும் இச்ச²தி, தர்ஹி தம்’ ப்ரதி பராம்’முகோ² மா பூ⁴: |
43 Ye have heard, that it has been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy:
நிஜஸமீபவஸிநி ப்ரேம குரு, கிந்து ஸ²த்ரும்’ ப்ரதி த்³வேஷம்’ குரு, யதே³தத் புரோக்தம்’ வசநம்’ ஏதத³பி யூயம்’ ஸ்²ருதவந்த: |
44 but I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that abuse you and persecute you;
கிந்த்வஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந் வதா³மி, யூயம்’ ரிபுவ்வபி ப்ரேம குருத, யே ச யுஷ்மாந் ஸ²பந்தே, தாந, ஆஸி²ஷம்’ வத³த, யே ச யுஷ்மாந் ரு’தீயந்தே, தேஷாம்’ மங்க³லம்’ குருத, யே ச யுஷ்மாந் நிந்த³ந்தி, தாட³யந்தி ச, தேஷாம்’ க்ரு’தே ப்ரார்த²யத்⁴வம்’|
45 that ye may be the children of your heavenly Father; for He causeth his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain upon the just and the unjust.
தத்ர ய: ஸதாமஸதாஞ்சோபரி ப்ரபா⁴கரம் உதா³யயதி, ததா² தா⁴ர்ம்மிகாநாமதா⁴ர்ம்மிகாநாஞ்சோபரி நீரம்’ வர்ஷயதி தாத்³ரு’ஸோ² யோ யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸ்வர்க³ஸ்த²: பிதா, யூயம்’ தஸ்யைவ ஸந்தாநா ப⁴விஷ்யத²|
46 For if ye love only them that love you, what reward do ye expect? do not even the publicans the same?
யே யுஷ்மாஸு ப்ரேம குர்வ்வந்தி, யூயம்’ யதி³ கேவலம்’ தேவ்வேவ ப்ரேம குருத², தர்ஹி யுஷ்மாகம்’ கிம்’ ப²லம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யதி? சண்டா³லா அபி தாத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ கிம்’ ந குர்வ்வந்தி?
47 and if ye embrace your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not the publicans so likewise?
அபரம்’ யூயம்’ யதி³ கேவலம்’ ஸ்வீயப்⁴ராத்ரு’த்வேந நமத, தர்ஹி கிம்’ மஹத் கர்ம்ம குருத²? சண்டா³லா அபி தாத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ கிம்’ ந குர்வ்வந்தி?
48 Be ye therefore perfect in love and goodness, as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.
தஸ்மாத் யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸ்வர்க³ஸ்த²: பிதா யதா² பூர்ணோ ப⁴வதி, யூயமபி தாத்³ரு’ஸா² ப⁴வத|
