Matthew 23
1 Then spake Jesus to the people and to his disciples, saying,
Tedy Ježíš mluvil zástupům a učedlníkům svým,
2 The scribes and pharisees sit in the seat of Moses:
Řka: Na stolici Mojžíšově posadili se zákoníci a farizeové.
3 observe therefore and do all things whatsoever they tell you to observe; but do not ye according to their works, for they say and do not:
Protož všecko, což by koli rozkázali vám zachovávati, zachovávejte a čiňte, ale podle skutků jejich nečiňte; neboť praví, a nečiní.
4 for they bind grievous and intolerable burthens, and impose them upon men; but they themselves will not put a finger to them:
Svazujíť zajisté břemena těžká a nesnesitelná, a vzkládají na ramena lidská, ale prstem svým nechtí jimi ani pohnouti.
5 but they do all their works to be seen by men; they make their phylacteries broad, and enlarge the fringes of their garments,
A všeckyť ty své skutky činí, aby byli vidíni od lidí. Rozšiřují zajisté nápisy své a veliké dělají podolky pláštů svých,
6 and love the uppermost places at feasts,
A milují přední místa na večeřích, a první stolice v školách,
7 and the chief seats in the synagogues, and salutations in public assemblies, and to be called by men Rabbi, Rabbi.
A pozdravování na trhu, a aby byli nazýváni od lidí: Mistři, mistři.
8 But be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your instructor even Christ, and ye are all brethren.
Ale vy nebývejte nazýváni mistři; nebo jeden jest Mistr váš, totiž Kristus, vy pak všickni bratří jste.
9 Neither call any man upon earth Father; for one is your Father, who is in heaven:
A otce nenazývejte sobě na zemi; nebo jeden jest Otec váš, kterýž jest v nebesích.
10 neither be ye called masters; for one is your master, even Christ.
Ani se nazývejte vůdcové; nebo jeden jest vůdce váš Kristus.
11 But let him that is greatest among you be your minister: and whosoever will exalt himself shall be abased,
Ale kdo z vás větší jest, budeť služebníkem vaším.
12 and whosoever will humble himself shall be exalted.
Nebo kdož by se sám povyšoval, bude ponížen; a kdož by se ponížil, bude povýšen.
13 But wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites, who shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, nor suffer those that are entering to go in.
Ale běda vám, zákoníci a farizeové pokrytci, že zavíráte království nebeské před lidmi; nebo sami tam nevcházíte, ani těm, jenž by vjíti chtěli, vcházeti dopouštíte.
14 Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; for ye devour widows houses, and for a cover make long prayers: therefore ye shall receive the heavier judgement.
Běda vám, zákoníci a farizeové pokrytci, že zžíráte domy vdovské, za příčinou dlouhého modlení; protož těžší soud ponesete.
15 Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites: for ye compass sea and land to make a proselyte, and when he is gained, ye make him more the child of hell than yourselves. (Geenna g1067)
Běda vám, zákoníci a farizeové pokrytci, že obcházíte moře i zemi, abyste učinili jednoho novověrce, a když bude učiněn, učiníte jej syna zatracení, dvakrát více, nežli jste sami. (Geenna g1067)
16 Wo unto you, ye blind guides, who say, If any one swear by the temple, it is nothing;
Běda vám, vůdcové slepí, kteříž říkáte: Přisáhl-li by kdo skrze chrám, to nic není; ale kdo by přisáhl skrze zlato chrámové, povinenť jest přísaze dosti činiti.
17 but if any man swear by the gold of the temple, the oath is binding. Foolish and blind creatures! for which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
Blázni a slepci; nebo co jest většího, zlato-li, čili chrám, kterýž posvěcuje zlata?
18 And, If any one swear by the altar, it is nothing; but if any one swear by the gift upon it, he is bound.
A přisáhl-li by kdo skrze oltář, nic není; ale kdo by přisáhl skrze ten dar, kterýž jest na něm, povinen jest.
19 O foolish and blind! for which is greater, the gift, or the altar which sanctifieth the gift?
Blázni a slepci, i co jest většího, dar-li, čili oltář, kterýž posvěcuje daru?
20 He then, that sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it and by all things upon it:
A protož kdokoli přisahá skrze oltář, přisahá skrze něj, i skrze to všecko, což na něm jest.
21 and he, that sweareth by the temple, sweareth by it, and by Him that dwelleth in it:
A kdož přisahá skrze chrám, přisahá skrze něj, i skrze toho, kterýž přebývá v něm.
22 and he, that sweareth by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by Him that sitteth upon it.
A kdož přisahá skrze nebe, přisahá skrze trůn Boží, i skrze toho, kterýž na něm sedí.
23 Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites, who tithe even your mint, and anise, and cummin, but neglect the weightier matters of the law, judgement, mercy, and fidelity: these ye ought undoubtedly to practise, and not to omit the others.
Běda vám, zákoníci a farizeové pokrytci, že dáváte desátky z máty a z kopru a z kmínu, a opouštíte to, což těžšího jest v Zákoně, totiž soud a milosrdenství a věrnost. Tyto věci měli jste činiti a oněch neopouštěti.
24 Blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel!
Vůdcové slepí, kteříž cedíte komára, velblouda pak požíráte.
25 Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; for ye clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of rapine and intemperance:
Běda vám, zákoníci a farizeové pokrytci, že čistíte po vrchu konvice a mísy, a vnitř plno jest loupeže a nestředmosti.
26 thou blind pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that the outside of them may be also clean.
Farizee slepče, vyčisť prve to, což vnitř jest v konvi a v míse, aby i to, což jest zevnitř, bylo čisto.
27 Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; who are like whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful without, but within are full of the bones of the dead, and all manner of filthiness;
Běda vám, zákoníci a farizeové pokrytci, nebo jste se připodobnili hrobům zbíleným, kteříž ač se zdadí zevnitř krásní, ale vnitř jsou plní kostí umrlčích i vší nečistoty.
28 so do ye likewise outwardly appear to men to be righteous, but within are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Tak i vy zevnitř zajisté zdáte se lidem spravedliví, ale vnitř plní jste pokrytství a nepravosti.
29 Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; who build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the monuments of the just,
Běda vám, zákoníci a farizeové pokrytci, neboť vzděláváte hroby proroků a ozdobujete hroby spravedlivých,
30 and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been concerned with them in shedding the blood of the prophets:
A říkáte: Kdybychom byli za dnů otců našich, nebyli bychom účastníci jejich ve krvi proroků.
31 so that ye are witnesses yourselves, that ye are the children of those who killed the prophets:
Protož osvědčujete sami proti sobě, že jste synové těch, kteříž proroky zmordovali.
32 fill up then the measure of your fathers, ye serpents, ye brood of vipers:
I vy také naplňte míru otců svých.
Hadové, plémě ještěrčí, i jakž byste ušli odsudku do pekelného ohně? (Geenna g1067)
34 For behold I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
Protož aj, já posílám k vám proroky a moudré a učitele, a vy z těch některé zmordujete a ukřižujete, a některé z nich bičovati budete v školách vašich, a budete je honiti z města do města,
35 that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel, to the blood of Zacharias the son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
Aby přišla na vás všeliká krev spravedlivá, vylitá na zemi, od krve Abele spravedlivého, až do krve Zachariáše syna Barachiášova, kteréhož jste zabili mezi chrámem a oltářem.
36 Verily I tell you, all these things shall come upon this generation.
Amen pravím vám: Přijdou tyto všecky věci na pokolení toto.
37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
Jeruzaléme, Jeruzaléme, mordéři proroků, a kterýž kamenuješ ty, jenž byli k tobě posíláni, kolikrát jsem chtěl shromážditi dítky tvé, tak jako slepice shromažďuje kuřátka svá pod křídla, a nechtěli jste.
38 Behold your house shall be left you desolate:
Aj, zanecháváť se vám dům váš pustý.
39 for I tell you, ye shall not see me after this, till ye shall say, Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Neboť pravím vám, že mne již více nikoli neuzříte od této chvíle, až i díte: Požehnaný, jenž se béře ve jménu Páně.
