< Matthew 22 >

1 And Jesus resuming his discourse spake unto them again in parables,
ⲁ̅ⲡⲁⲗⲓⲛ ⲟⲛ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲡⲁⲣⲁⲃⲟⲗⲏ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ
2 saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king, who made a wedding-feast for his son;
ⲃ̅ϫⲉ ⲉⲥⲧⲛⲧⲱⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ ⲛⲙⲡⲏⲩⲉ ⲉⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛⲣⲣⲟ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲛⲟⲩϣⲉⲗⲉⲉⲧ ⲙⲡⲉϥϣⲏⲣⲉ
3 and sent his servants to call those that were invited to the wedding: and they would not come.
ⲅ̅ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲛⲉϥϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲉⲧⲱϩⲙ ⲉⲛⲉⲧⲧⲁϩⲙ ⲉⲧϣⲉⲗⲉⲉⲧ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲉⲓ
4 Then he sent other servants, saying, Tell them that are invited, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready; come to the wedding.
ⲇ̅ⲡⲁⲗⲓⲛ ⲟⲛ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛϩⲉⲛⲕⲉϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲉⲛⲁϣⲱⲟⲩ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁϫⲓⲥ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲧⲁϩⲙ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲁⲁⲣⲓⲥⲧⲟⲛ ⲁⲓⲥⲃⲧⲱⲧϥ ⲛⲁⲙⲁⲥⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲥⲁⲛⲁϣⲧ ⲥⲉϣⲁⲁⲧ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲕⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲥⲃⲧⲱⲧ ⲁⲙⲏⲓⲧⲛ ⲉⲧϣⲉⲗⲉⲉⲧ
5 But they slighted him, and went away, one to his field and another to his merchandize:
ⲉ̅ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲁⲙⲉⲗⲉⲓ ⲁⲩⲃⲱⲕ ϩⲟⲓⲛⲉ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲉⲛⲉⲩϭⲟⲟⲙ ⲕⲉⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲉϥⲉⲓⲉⲡϣⲱⲧ
6 and others seized his servants, and shamefully abused them, and slew them.
ⲋ̅ⲡⲕⲉⲥⲉⲉⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲁⲙⲁϩⲧⲉ ⲛⲛⲉϥϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲁⲩⲥⲟⲥⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧⲟⲩ
7 And when the king heard of it, he was highly provoked, and sent his troops, and destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city.
ⲍ̅ⲡⲣⲣⲟ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲛⲟⲩϭⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲥⲧⲣⲁⲧⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲕⲟ ⲛⲛⲣⲉϥϩⲱⲧⲃ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲣⲱⲕϩ ⲛⲧⲉⲩⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ
8 Then saith he to his servants, The feast is ready, but they that were invited were not worthy of it:
ⲏ̅ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲛⲉϥϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ϫⲉ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲛϣⲉⲗⲉⲉⲧ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲥⲃⲧⲱⲧ ⲛⲉⲧⲧⲁϩⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲩⲙⲡϣⲁ ⲁⲛ
9 go therefore into the public streets, and as many as ye meet with invite to the wedding.
ⲑ̅ⲃⲱⲕ ϭⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲙⲙⲁ ⲛⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲛⲛⲉϩⲓⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲱϩⲙ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲛϣⲉⲗⲉⲉⲧ
10 And those servants went out into the high-ways, and brought in all they met with, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests.
ⲓ̅ⲁⲩⲉⲓ ϭⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲛⲉϩⲓⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲁⲩϫⲓ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲧⲁⲩϩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲡⲟⲛⲏⲣⲟⲥ ϩⲓⲁⲅⲁⲑⲟⲥ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩϩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲙⲁ ⲛϣⲉⲗⲉⲉⲧ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲏϫ
11 But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man that had not put on a wedding-garment, and saith to him,
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲁϥⲃⲱⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲣⲣⲟ ⲉⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲛⲉⲧⲛⲏϫ ⲁϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲩⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲙⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲙⲛϩⲃⲥⲱ ϩⲓⲱⲱϥ ⲙⲙⲁ ⲛϣⲉⲗⲉⲉⲧ
12 Friend, how camest thou in here without a wedding-garment? and he was struck speechless.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉϣⲃⲏⲣ ⲛⲁϣ ⲛϩⲉ ⲁⲕⲉⲓ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲉⲓⲙⲁ ⲉⲙⲛϩⲃⲥⲱ ϩⲓⲱⲱⲕ ⲙⲙⲁ ⲛϣⲉⲗⲉⲉⲧ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲣⲱϥ ⲧⲱⲙ
13 Then said the king to his attendants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him up, and throw him out into the darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of the teeth:
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲣⲣⲟ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲇⲓⲁⲕⲟⲛⲉⲓ ϫⲉ ⲙⲟⲩⲣ ⲛⲛⲉϥϭⲓϫ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉϥⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲧⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲟⲩϫⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲡⲕⲁⲕⲉ ⲉⲧϩⲓⲃⲟⲗ ⲉϥⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲣⲓⲙⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡϭⲁϩϭϩ ⲛⲛⲟⲃϩⲉ
14 for there are many called, but few approved.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ϩⲁϩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲉⲧⲧⲁϩⲙ ϩⲉⲛⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲥⲟⲧⲡ
15 Then the pharisees went and consulted how they might insnare Him in his discourse.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲃⲱⲕ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁⲩϫⲓ ⲛⲟⲩϣⲟϫⲛⲉ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲉϭⲟⲡϥ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩϣⲁϫⲉ
16 And they send to Him their disciples along with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art a man of truth, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest for any man; for thou regardest not the person of men: Tell us therefore what thou thinkest,
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲁⲩϫⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛϩⲏⲣⲱⲇⲓⲁⲛⲟⲥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲥⲁϩ ⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲕⲟⲩⲙⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲉϩⲓⲏ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲕϯ ⲥⲃⲱ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲥ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡⲉⲕⲣⲟⲟⲩϣ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ϩⲁⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲉⲕϭⲱϣⲧ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲉϩⲟ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ
17 Is it lawful to give tribute to Cesar, or not?
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲁϫⲓⲥ ϭⲉ ⲛⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲥⲇⲟⲕⲉⲓ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲉⲝⲉⲥⲧⲉⲓ ⲉϯⲕⲩⲛⲥⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲣⲣⲟ ϫⲛⲟⲩⲕ ⲉⲝⲉⲥⲧⲉⲓ
18 But Jesus knew their malice, and said, Why do ye tempt me, ye hypocrites?
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉϥⲉⲓⲙⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲩⲡⲟⲛⲏⲣⲓⲁ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲁϩⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲉⲓⲣⲁⲍⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ⲛϩⲩⲡⲟⲕⲣⲓⲧⲏⲥ
19 Shew me the tribute-money. And they brought Him a Roman Penny.
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲙⲁⲧⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲉⲡⲛⲟⲙⲓⲥⲙⲁ ⲙⲡⲕⲩⲛⲥⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛⲟⲩⲥⲁⲧⲉⲉⲣⲉ
20 And He saith unto them, Whose image and inscription is this?
ⲕ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲧⲁⲛⲓⲙ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲉⲓϩⲓⲕⲱⲛ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲉⲓⲉⲡⲉⲓⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ
21 They answered, Cesar's. Then saith He unto them, Render therefore to Cesar the things that are Cesar's; and to God the things that are God's.
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲁⲡⲣⲣⲟ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ϯ ϭⲉ ⲛⲛⲁⲡⲣⲣⲟ ⲙⲡⲣⲣⲟ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲁⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
22 And when they heard this, they marvelled, and left Him and went away.
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲁⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲣϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩⲕⲱ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲃⲱⲕ
23 On the same day came the sadducees to Him, who say there is no resurrection,
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ϩⲙⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲩϯⲡⲉⲩⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲥⲁⲇⲇⲟⲩⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲁⲩϫⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲇⲉ
24 and asked Him, saying, Master, Moses said, If any man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up seed unto his brother.
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲥⲁϩ ⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲙⲱⲩⲥⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉⲣϣⲁⲛⲟⲩⲁ ⲙⲟⲩ ⲉⲙⲛⲧϥϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ ϫⲓ ⲛⲧⲉϥⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲛϥⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥ ⲛⲟⲩⲥⲡⲉⲣⲙⲁ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ
25 Now there were with us seven brothers, and the first married and died, and having no issue left his wife to his brother;
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ⲉⲛⲉⲩϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲇⲉ ϩⲁⲧⲏⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲥⲁϣϥ ⲛⲥⲟⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲁϥϫⲓϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲙⲛⲧϥϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁϥⲕⲱ ⲛⲧⲉϥⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ
26 likewise the second also, and the third, even to seven;
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ϩⲟⲙⲟⲓⲱⲥ ⲡⲙⲉϩⲥⲛⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲙⲉϩϣⲟⲙⲛⲧ ϣⲁⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲙⲉϩⲥⲁϣϥ
27 and last of all the woman died also;
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲁⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲧⲉⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ
28 therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϭⲉ ϩⲛ ⲧⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲉⲥⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲛⲛⲓⲙ ⲙⲡⲥⲁϣϥ ⲁⲩϫⲓⲧⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ
29 But Jesus answered them, Ye are mistaken, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God:
ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲗⲁⲛⲁ ⲉⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲛⲉⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲧϭⲟⲙ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
30 for in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels of God in heaven.
ⲗ̅ϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ϩⲛ ⲧⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲉⲩϫⲓⲥϩⲓⲙⲉ ⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲉⲩϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ϩⲁⲓ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲩⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲛⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲉⲧϩⲛ ⲧⲡⲉ
31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read what is spoken to you by God,
ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲁⲛⲁⲥⲧⲁⲥⲓⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲛⲱϣ ⲙⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩϫⲟⲟϥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ
32 saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲃⲣⲁϩⲁⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲥⲁⲁⲕ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲁⲕⲱⲃ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲡⲁⲛⲉⲧⲟⲛϩ ⲡⲉ
33 And when the people heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.
ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲙⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲁⲩⲣϣⲡⲏⲣⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲛ ⲧⲉϥⲥⲃⲱ
34 But when the pharisees heard that He had silenced the sadducees,
ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁϥϣⲧⲙⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲛⲥⲁⲇⲇⲟⲩⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲥⲱⲟⲩϩ ⲉⲛⲉⲩⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ
35 they gathered together again, and one of them, an interpreter of the law, propounded a question, to try Him,
ⲗ̅ⲉ̅ⲁϥϫⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲟⲩⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲛⲟⲙⲱⲇⲓⲇⲁⲥⲕⲁⲗⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲡⲉⲓⲣⲁⲍⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ
36 and said, Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law?
ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ϫⲉ ⲡⲥⲁϩ ⲁϣ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ
37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind: this is the first and great command.
ⲗ̅ⲍ̅ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲕⲉⲙⲉⲣⲉⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲡⲉⲕⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲕϩⲏⲧ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲕⲯⲩⲭⲏ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲕⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ
38 And the second is like it,
ⲗ̅ⲏ̅ⲧⲁⲓ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲛⲟϭ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲉⲛⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ
39 Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
ⲗ̅ⲑ̅ⲧⲙⲉϩⲥⲛⲧⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲉⲕⲉⲙⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲉⲧϩⲓⲧⲟⲩⲱⲕ ⲛⲧⲉⲕϩⲉ
40 On these two precepts depend all the law and the prophets.
ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲩⲁϣⲉ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲓⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⲥⲛⲧⲉ
41 Now while the pharisees were thus gathered together, Jesus asked them,
ⲙ̅ⲁ̅ⲉⲩⲥⲟⲟⲩϩ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉⲫⲁⲣⲓⲥⲥⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲁϥϫⲛⲟⲩⲟⲩ ⲛϭⲓ ⲓⲏⲥ
42 saying, What think ye of the Messiah? whose son is He? They say unto Him, David's.
ⲙ̅ⲃ̅ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲥⲇⲟⲕⲉⲓ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲇⲁⲩⲉⲓⲇ ⲡⲉ
43 He saith unto them, How then does David by inspiration call Him Lord,
ⲙ̅ⲅ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲁϣ ⲛϩⲉ ⲇⲁⲩⲉⲓⲇ ⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲡⲛⲁ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ
44 saying, The Lord said unto my Lord, "Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?"
ⲙ̅ⲇ̅ϫⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲉⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲙⲡⲁϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ϩⲙ ⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲥⲁⲟⲩⲛⲁⲙ ⲙⲙⲟⲓ ϣⲁⲛϯⲕⲱ ⲛⲛⲉⲕϫⲓⲛϫⲉⲉⲩⲉ ϩⲁⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲛⲛⲉⲕⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲧⲉ
45 therefore if David call Him Lord, how is He his son?
ⲙ̅ⲉ̅ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲇⲁⲩⲉⲓⲇ ϭⲉ ⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲁϣ ⲛϩⲉ ⲡⲉϥϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲡⲉ
46 And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor did any dare, from that day, to ask Him any more such questions.
ⲙ̅ⲋ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲙⲡⲉⲗⲁⲁⲩ ϭⲙϭⲟⲙ ⲉⲟⲩⲟϣⲃⲉϥ ⲛⲟⲩϣⲁϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲧⲟⲗⲙⲁ ϫⲓⲛ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉϫⲛⲟⲩϥ
