Matthew 15
1 Then came to Jesus the scribes and pharisees from Jerusalem saying,
Alors des Scribes et des Pharisiens vinrent de Jérusalem à Jésus, et lui dirent:
2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat.
Pourquoi tes Disciples transgressent-ils la tradition des Anciens? car ils ne lavent point leurs mains quand ils prennent leur repas.
3 But He answered and said unto them, And why do ye transgress the commandment of God for your tradition?
Mais il répondit, et leur dit: et vous, pourquoi transgressez-vous le commandement de Dieu par votre tradition?
4 For God commanded saying, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, He that revileth father or mother, let him be put to death:
Car Dieu a commandé, disant: honore ton père et ta mère. Et [il a dit aussi]: que celui qui maudira son père ou sa mère, meure de mort.
5 but ye say, If any man say to his father or mother, "that which thou mightest be profited by from me is a gift to the temple,"
Mais vous dites: quiconque aura dit à son père ou à sa mère: [Tout] don qui [sera offert] de par moi, sera à ton profit;
6 and so honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. And thus have ye made void the commandment of God by your tradition.
Encore qu'il n'honore pas son père, ou sa mère, [il ne sera point coupable]; et ainsi vous avez anéanti le commandement de Dieu par votre tradition.
7 Well did Esaias prophecy concerning you,
Hypocrites, Esaïe a bien prophétisé de vous, en disant:
8 saying, This people approach me with their mouth, and honour me with their lips, but their heart is far from me:
Ce peuple s'approche de moi de sa bouche, et m'honore de ses lèvres; mais leur cœur est fort éloigné de moi.
9 but in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the injunctions of men.
Mais ils m'honorent en vain, enseignant des doctrines [qui ne sont que] des commandements d'hommes.
10 And He called the multitude to Him, and said unto them, Hear and understand it:
Puis ayant appelé les troupes, il leur dit: écoutez, et comprenez [ceci].
11 not that which goeth into the mouth defileth the man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this polluteth the man.
Ce n'est pas ce qui entre dans la bouche qui souille l'homme; mais ce qui sort de la bouche c'est ce qui souille l'homme.
12 Whereupon his disciples came and said to Him, Dost thou know that the pharisees, when they heard this assertion, were offended at it?
Sur cela les Disciples s'approchant, lui dirent: n'as-tu pas connu que les Pharisiens ont été scandalisés quand ils ont ouï ce discours?
13 But He answered and said, Every plantation which my heavenly Father hath not planted shall be rooted up.
Et il répondit, et dit: toute plante que mon Père céleste n'a pas plantée, sera déracinée.
14 Regard them not; for they are blind guides of the blind: and if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into the ditch.
Laissez-les, ce sont des aveugles, conducteurs d'aveugles; si un aveugle conduit un [autre] aveugle, ils tomberont tous deux dans la fosse.
15 Then Peter answered, and said unto Him, Explain to us this parable.
Alors Pierre prenant la parole, lui dit: explique-nous cette similitude.
16 And Jesus replied, Are ye also still void of understanding?
Et Jésus dit: êtes-vous encore, vous aussi, sans intelligence?
17 Do ye not yet know, that whatever goeth into the mouth passeth to the belly and is discharged downwards?
N'entendez-vous pas encore que tout ce qui entre dans la bouche descend dans l'estomac et ensuite est jeté au secret?
18 But the things, which proceed out of the mouth, come from the heart, and those defile a man.
Mais les choses qui sortent de la bouche partent du cœur, et ces choses-là souillent l'homme.
19 For out of the heart proceed wicked disputings, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false-witnessings, slanders:
Car du cœur sortent les mauvaises pensées, les meurtres, les adultères, les fornications, les larcins, les faux témoignages, les médisances.
20 these defile a man, but to eat without washing the hands doth not defile him.
Ce sont là les choses qui souillent l'homme; mais de manger sans avoir les mains lavées, cela ne souille point l'homme.
21 And Jesus went from thence, and retired into the parts adjacent to Tyre and Sidon.
Alors Jésus partant de là se retira vers les quartiers de Tyr et de Sidon.
22 And there came out of those quarters a Canaanitish woman, and cried to Him saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; for my daughter is grievously tormented by a demon.
Et voici, une femme Cananéenne, qui était partie de ces quartiers-là, s'écria, en lui disant: Seigneur! Fils de David, aie pitié de moi! ma fille est misérablement tourmentée d'un démon.
23 But he answered her not a word: and his disciples came and intreated Him, saying, Send her away, for she crieth importunately after us.
Mais il ne lui répondit mot; et ses Disciples s'approchant le prièrent, disant: renvoie-la; car elle crie après nous.
24 But he answered and said, I am sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Et il répondit, et dit: je ne suis envoyé qu'aux brebis perdues de la maison d'Israël.
25 However, she came and worshipped Him, saying, Lord help me.
Mais elle vint, et l'adora, disant: Seigneur, assiste-moi!
26 But he answered, It is not fit to take the children's bread and throw it to dogs: and she said, True, Lord;
Et il lui répondit, et dit: il ne convient pas de prendre le pain des enfants, et de le jeter aux petits chiens.
27 yet the dogs eat of the crumbs that fall from the table of their masters.
Mais elle dit: cela est vrai, Seigneur! cependant les petits chiens mangent des miettes qui tombent de la table de leurs maîtres.
28 Then Jesus answering, said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it therefore unto thee as thou desirest. And her daughter was cured from that very hour.
Alors Jésus répondant, lui dit: Ô femme! ta foi est grande; qu'il te soit fait comme tu le souhaites: et dès ce moment-là sa fille fut guérie.
29 And Jesus departed from thence, and came near to the sea of Galilee; and going up to a mountain He sat down there.
Et Jésus partant de là vint près de la mer de Galilée; puis il monta sur une montagne, et s'assit là.
30 And great multitudes came to Him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others; and laid them at the feet of Jesus, and He healed them.
Et plusieurs troupes de gens vinrent à lui, ayant avec eux des boiteux, des aveugles, des muets, des manchots, et plusieurs autres; lesquels on mit aux pieds de Jésus, et il les guérit.
31 So that the people wondered when they saw the dumb speaking, the maimed become sound, the lame walking, and the blind seeing: and they glorified the God of Israel.
De sorte que ces troupes s'étonnèrent de voir les muets parler, les manchots être sains, les boiteux marcher, et les aveugles voir; et elles glorifièrent le Dieu d'Israël.
32 Then Jesus called his disciples to Him and said, I am moved with compassion to the multitude, for they have been with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: I will not let them go away fasting, least they faint in the way.
Alors Jésus ayant appelé ses Disciples, dit: je suis ému de compassion envers cette multitude de gens, car il y a déjà trois jours qu'ils ne bougent d'avec moi, et ils n'ont rien à manger; et je ne veux pas les renvoyer à jeun, de peur que les forces ne leur manquent en chemin.
33 And his disciples replied, Whence can we have so much bread in this desert place as to satisfy so great a multitude?
Et ses Disciples lui dirent: d'où pourrions-nous tirer dans ce désert assez de pains pour rassasier une si grande multitude?
34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? and they said, Seven, and a few small fishes.
Et Jésus leur dit: combien avez-vous de pains? ils lui dirent: Sept, et quelque peu de petits poissons.
35 Then He bid the people sit down on the ground;
Alors il commanda aux troupes de s'asseoir par terre.
36 and taking the seven loaves and the fishes, when He had given thanks, He brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
Et ayant pris les sept pains et les poissons, il les rompit après avoir béni Dieu, et les donna à ses Disciples, et les Disciples au peuple.
37 And they did all eat, and were satisfied: and they took up what was left even of fragments seven baskets full.
Et ils mangèrent tous, et furent rassasiés; et on remporta du reste des pièces de pain sept corbeilles pleines.
38 Now they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
Or ceux qui avaient mangé étaient quatre mille hommes, sans compter les femmes et les petits enfants.
39 Then he dismissed the multitudes, and went into a ship, and came to the coasts of Magdala.
Et Jésus ayant donné congé aux troupes, monta sur une nacelle, et vint au territoire de Magdala.
