Matthew 10
1 And He called unto Him his twelve disciples, and gave them power over impure spirits, even to cast them out; and to cure all diseases and every malady whatsoever.
Jesús llamó y reunió a sus doce discípulos y les dio poder para echar fuera espíritus malos y para sanar todo tipo de enfermedades.
2 Now these are the names of the twelve apostles: first Simon, called Peter, and Andrew his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew;
Estos son los nombres de los doce apóstoles: primero, Simón (también llamado Pedro), su hermano Andrés, Santiago el hijo de Zebedeo, su hermano Juan,
3 Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus who was surnamed Thaddeus;
Felipe, Bartolomé, Tomás, Mateo el recaudador de impuestos, Santiago el hijo de Alfeo, Tadeo,
4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, even he that betrayed Him.
Simón el revolucionario y Judas Iscariote, quien entregó a Jesús.
5 These twelve did Jesus send forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not among the gentiles, neither enter into any city of the Samaritans:
A estos doce envió Jesús, diciéndoles: “no vayan a los gentiles, ni a ninguna ciudad samaritana.
6 but go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Ustedes deben ir a las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel.
7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand: and in confirmation of your doctrine heal the sick,
Donde vayan, díganle a la gente: ‘el reino de los cielos está cerca’.
8 cleanse the leprous, raise the dead, cast out demons; and as ye have received freely, freely give.
Sanen a los que estén enfermos. Resuciten a los muertos. Sanen a los leprosos. Echen fuera demonios. ¡Ustedes recibieron gratuitamente, entonces den gratuitamente!
9 Take not gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses: take no bag for your journey,
No lleven oro, plata, ni monedas de cobre en sus bolsillos,
10 nor two coats, nor shoes, nor weapons; for the laborer is worthy of his food.
ni lleven una bolsa de provisiones para el camino, ni dos abrigos, o sandalias, ni un bastón para caminar, porque todo trabajador merece su sustento.
11 And into whatsoever city or town ye enter, inquire who in it is a worthy person, and there remain till ye leave the place.
Donde vayan, cualquiera sea la ciudad o aldea, pregunten por alguien que viva conforme a buenos principios, y quédense allí hasta que se marchen.
12 And when ye come into the house, salute them:
Cuando lleguen a una casa, dejen bendición en ella.
13 and if the family be worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if they be not worthy, your salutation shall return to you.
Si esa casa la merece, dejen su paz en ella, pero si no la merece, la paz regresará a ustedes.
14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hearken to your words; when ye come out of that house or city, shake off the very dust of your feet:
“Si alguien no los recibe bien, y se niega a escuchar el mensaje que ustedes tienen que decir, entonces váyanse de esa casa o de esa ciudad, sacudiendo el polvo de sus pies mientras se marchan.
15 for I tell you verily, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha, in the day of judgement, than for that city.
Les digo la verdad: ¡Mejor será el Día del Juicio para Sodoma y Gomorra que para esa ciudad!
16 Behold I send you forth as sheep into the midst of wolves: be ye therefore prudent as serpents, and innocent as doves.
“Miren que los estoy enviando como ovejas entre lobos. Así que sean astutos como serpientes y mansos como palomas.
17 Beware of evil men; for they will deliver you up to their councils, and will scourge you in their synagogues.
Cuídense de aquellos que los entregarán para ser juzgados en los concilios de las ciudades y que los azotarán en sus sinagogas.
18 And ye shall be brought before governors and kings on my account, for a testimony to them and to the nations:
Ustedes serán arrastrados ante gobernantes y reyes por mi causa, para dar testimonio a ellos y a los gentiles.
19 but when they take you up, be not sollicitous how, or what ye shall say; for ye shall be taught in that very instant what ye shall speak: for it is not you that speak,
Pero cuando ellos los lleven a juicio, no se preocupen por la manera como deben hablar o por lo que deben decir, porque a ustedes se les dirá lo que deben decir en el momento correcto.
20 but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh by you.
Porque no serán ustedes los que hablarán, sino el espíritu del Padre quien hablará por medio de ustedes.
21 Brother shall betray his brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death:
El hermano entregará a su hermano y lo mandará a matar, y el padre hará lo mismo con su hijo. Los hijos se rebelarán contra sus padres, y los entregarán a la muerte.
22 and ye shall be hated by all men for professing my name; but he that perseveres to the end shall certainly be saved.
Todo el mundo los odiará a ustedes porque ustedes me siguen a mi, pero todo aquél que persevere hasta el fin, será salvo.
23 But when they persecute you in one city, flee into another: for verily I tell you, ye shall not finish your commission through the cities of Israel, before the Son of man shall come.
“Cuando ustedes sean perseguidos en una ciudad, huyan a otra. Les digo la verdad: no terminarán de ir a las ciudades de Israel antes de que venga el Hijo del hombre.
24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord:
Los discípulos no son más importantes que su maestro;
25 it is sufficient sure for the disciple that he be treated as his master, and the servant as his lord. If then they call the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more his domestics?
ellos deben estar satisfechos con llegar a ser como su maestro, y los siervos como su amo. Si a quien es la cabeza del hogar le han llamado demonio Belcebú, ¡aún más llamarán demonios a los demás miembros de esta casa!
26 Be not therefore afraid of them; for there is nothing hid, that shall not be revealed; nor secret, that shall not be made known.
Así que no les tengan miedo, porque no hay nada encubierto que no salga a la luz, ni hay nada oculto que no se llegue a saber.
27 What I say to you in private, declare ye in public: and what ye hear as in the ear, preach ye as from the house-tops.
Lo que yo les digo aquí en la oscuridad, díganlo a la luz del día, y lo que han oído como un susurro en sus oídos, grítenlo desde las azoteas.
28 And be not afraid of them, who can only kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him, who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Geenna g1067)
No tengan miedo de aquellos que pueden matarlos físicamente, pero que no pueden matarlos espiritualmente. En lugar de ello, tengan miedo de Aquel que puede destruirlos física y espiritualmente en Gehena. (Geenna g1067)
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and not one of them shall fall to the ground without the will of your Father:
¿No se venden dos gorriones por el precio de un solo centavo? Pero ninguno de ellos cae al suelo sin que el Padre lo sepa.
30 and even the hairs of your head are all numbered.
Incluso los cabellos que ustedes tienen en sus cabezas han sido contados.
31 Therefore be not afraid, ye are of more worth than many sparrows.
Así que no se preocupen. ¡Ustedes valen más que muchos gorriones!
32 Whosoever then shall own me before men, I also will own him before my Father, who is in heaven:
“Si alguno declara públicamente su compromiso conmigo, yo también declararé mi compromiso con él ante mi Padre que está en el cielo.
33 but whosoever shall disown me before men, him will I also disown before my Father who is in heaven.
Pero si alguno me niega públicamente, yo también lo negaré ante mi Padre en el cielo.
34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to bring peace but division.
No piensen que he venido a traer paz a la tierra. No he venido a traer paz sino espada.
35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law:
He venido ‘a poner al hombre contra su padre, a la hija contra su madre, y a la nuera contra su suegra.
36 and those of a man's own family shall be his enemies.
¡Sus enemigos serán los de su propia familia!’
37 He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me:
Si ustedes aman a su padre o su madre más que a mi, no merecen ser míos; y si aman a su hijo o hija más que a mi, no merecen ser míos.
38 and he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
Si no cargan su cruz y me siguen, no merecen ser míos.
39 He that would save his life shall lose it; and he, that loseth his life for my sake, shall find it.
Si tratan de salvar su vida, la perderán, pero si pierden su vida por causa de mí, la salvarán.
40 He that receiveth you, receiveth me: and he that receiveth me, receiveth Him that sent me.
Aquellos que los reciban a ustedes me reciben a mi, y aquellos que me reciben a mi, reciben al que me envió.
41 He that receiveth a prophet as a prophet, shall have a prophet's reward: and he that receiveth a righteous man as such, shall receive a righteous man's reward.
Aquellos que reciben al profeta por ser profeta, recibirán recompensa de un profeta. Los que reciben a quien hace el bien, recibirán la misma recompensa como quien hace el bien.
42 And whosoever shall give to one of these mean persons but a cup of cold water to drink, as my disciple, I assure you, he shall not lose his reward.
Les digo la verdad: los que den una bebida de agua fresca al menos importante de mis discípulos, no perderán su recompensa”.
