< Mark 9 >
1 And He said unto them, Verily I tell you, that there are some of those who stand here, that shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
atha sa tAnavAdIt yuSmabhyamahaM yathArthaM kathayAmi, IzvararAjyaM parAkramENOpasthitaM na dRSTvA mRtyuM nAsvAdiSyantE, atra daNPAyamAnAnAM madhyEpi tAdRzA lOkAH santi|
2 And after six days Jesus taketh with Him Peter, and James, and John, and bringeth them up by themselves to a high mountain apart; and was transfigured before them:
atha SaPdinEbhyaH paraM yIzuH pitaraM yAkUbaM yOhananjca gRhItvA girEruccasya nirjanasthAnaM gatvA tESAM pratyakSE mUrtyantaraM dadhAra|
3 and his raiment shone, being exceeding white as snow, so as no fuller on earth can whiten.
tatastasya paridhEyam IdRzam ujjvalahimapANaParaM jAtaM yad jagati kOpi rajakO na tAdRk pANaParaM karttAM zaknOti|
4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.
aparanjca EliyO mUsAzca tEbhyO darzanaM dattvA yIzunA saha kathanaM karttumArEbhAtE|
5 Then said Peter to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: let us make three tabernacles; one for Thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias:
tadA pitarO yIzumavAdIt hE gurO'smAkamatra sthitiruttamA, tataEva vayaM tvatkRtE EkAM mUsAkRtE EkAm EliyakRtE caikAM, EtAstisraH kuTI rnirmmAma|
6 for he knew not what to say, for they were sore afraid.
kintu sa yaduktavAn tat svayaM na bubudhE tataH sarvvE bibhayAnjcakruH|
7 And there was a cloud overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, hear ye Him.
Etarhi payOdastAn chAdayAmAsa, mamayAM priyaH putraH kathAsu tasya manAMsi nivEzayatEti nabhOvANI tanmEdyAnniryayau|
8 And immediately looking round about, they saw no more of any one, but Jesus alone with them.
atha haThAttE caturdizO dRSTvA yIzuM vinA svaiH sahitaM kamapi na dadRzuH|
9 And as they came down from the mountain, He charged them to tell no one what they had seen, till after the Son of man were risen from the dead.
tataH paraM girEravarOhaNakAlE sa tAn gAPham dUtyAdidEza yAvannarasUnOH zmazAnAdutthAnaM na bhavati, tAvat darzanasyAsya vArttA yuSmAbhiH kasmaicidapi na vaktavyA|
10 And they laid hold on that expression, querying among themselves, what means the rising from the dead?
tadA zmazAnAdutthAnasya kObhiprAya iti vicAryya tE tadvAkyaM svESu gOpAyAnjcakrirE|
11 Then they asked Him, saying, Why do the scribes say, that Elias must come first?
atha tE yIzuM papracchuH prathamata EliyEnAgantavyam iti vAkyaM kuta upAdhyAyA AhuH?
12 And He answered and told them, Elias doth indeed come first, and settle all things: He told them likewise how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things and be used contemptuously.
tadA sa pratyuvAca, EliyaH prathamamEtya sarvvakAryyANi sAdhayiSyati; naraputrE ca lipi ryathAstE tathaiva sOpi bahuduHkhaM prApyAvajnjAsyatE|
13 But I tell you, that Elias is come, and they have done to him whatever they would, as it is written of him.
kintvahaM yuSmAn vadAmi, EliyArthE lipi ryathAstE tathaiva sa Etya yayau, lOkA: svEcchAnurUpaM tamabhivyavaharanti sma|
14 And when He came to the other disciples, He saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes disputing with them.
anantaraM sa ziSyasamIpamEtya tESAM catuHpArzvE taiH saha bahujanAn vivadamAnAn adhyApakAMzca dRSTavAn;
15 And immediately all the people, when they saw Him, were astonished; and running to Him, saluted Him.
kintu sarvvalOkAstaM dRSTvaiva camatkRtya tadAsannaM dhAvantastaM praNEmuH|
16 And he asked the scribes, What are ye disputing about?
tadA yIzuradhyApakAnaprAkSId EtaiH saha yUyaM kiM vivadadhvE?
17 And one of the multitude answered, and said, Master I have brought unto thee my son, who is possessed by a dumb spirit:
tatO lOkAnAM kazcidEkaH pratyavAdIt hE gurO mama sUnuM mUkaM bhUtadhRtanjca bhavadAsannam AnayaM|
18 and wherever it seizeth him, it convulseth him; and he fometh, and gnasheth his teeth, and thus he pineth away: and I desired thy disciples to cast him out, and they could not.
yadAsau bhUtastamAkramatE tadaiva pAtasati tathA sa phENAyatE, dantairdantAn gharSati kSINO bhavati ca; tatO hEtOstaM bhUtaM tyAjayituM bhavacchiSyAn nivEditavAn kintu tE na zEkuH|
19 And He answered and said, O unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him to me.
tadA sa tamavAdIt, rE avizvAsinaH santAnA yuSmAbhiH saha kati kAlAnahaM sthAsyAmi? aparAn kati kAlAn vA va AcArAn sahiSyE? taM madAsannamAnayata|
20 And they brought him to Him: and as soon as he saw Him, immediately the spirit threw him into convulsions: and he fell upon the ground, and rolled about foming.
tatastatsannidhiM sa AnIyata kintu taM dRSTvaiva bhUtO bAlakaM dhRtavAn; sa ca bhUmau patitvA phENAyamAnO lulOTha|
21 And He asked his father, How long is it since this befel him? And he said, From a child.
tadA sa tatpitaraM papraccha, asyEdRzI dazA kati dinAni bhUtA? tataH sOvAdIt bAlyakAlAt|
22 And it has often thrown him both into the fire and into the waters to destroy him. But if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us and help us.
bhUtOyaM taM nAzayituM bahuvArAn vahnau jalE ca nyakSipat kintu yadi bhavAna kimapi karttAM zaknOti tarhi dayAM kRtvAsmAn upakarOtu|
23 And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
tadA yIzustamavadat yadi pratyEtuM zaknOSi tarhi pratyayinE janAya sarvvaM sAdhyam|
24 And the father of the child immediately cried out and said with tears, Lord, I believe, help thou my unbelief.
tatastatkSaNaM tadbAlakasya pitA prOccai rUvan sAzrunEtraH prOvAca, prabhO pratyEmi mamApratyayaM pratikuru|
25 when Jesus saw the people flock together, He rebuked the impure spirit, and said to him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, Come out of him, and enter no more into him.
atha yIzu rlOkasagghaM dhAvitvAyAntaM dRSTvA tamapUtabhUtaM tarjayitvA jagAda, rE badhira mUka bhUta tvamEtasmAd bahirbhava punaH kadApi mAzrayainaM tvAmaham ityAdizAmi|
26 And when he had rored and vehemently convulsed him, he came out of him: and the child was as one dead, so that many said, that he was dead.
tadA sa bhUtazcItzabdaM kRtvA tamApIPya bahirjajAma, tatO bAlakO mRtakalpO babhUva tasmAdayaM mRtaityanEkE kathayAmAsuH|
27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.
kintu karaM dhRtvA yIzunOtthApitaH sa uttasthau|
28 And when He was come into the house, his disciples asked Him in private, Why could not we cast him out?
atha yIzau gRhaM praviSTE ziSyA guptaM taM papracchuH, vayamEnaM bhUtaM tyAjayituM kutO na zaktAH?
29 And He said unto them, This kind cannot be cast out, but by prayer and fasting.
sa uvAca, prArthanOpavAsau vinA kEnApyanyEna karmmaNA bhUtamIdRzaM tyAjayituM na zakyaM|
30 And they departed from thence and passed through Galilee, and He was not willing that any should know it;
anantaraM sa tatsthAnAditvA gAlIlmadhyEna yayau, kintu tat kOpi jAnIyAditi sa naicchat|
31 for He was instructing his disciples, and told them, the Son of man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will put Him to death; and on the third day, after his being put to death, He will rise again.
aparanjca sa ziSyAnupadizan babhASE, naraputrO narahastESu samarpayiSyatE tE ca taM haniSyanti taistasmin hatE tRtIyadinE sa utthAsyatIti|
32 But they knew not his meaning, and were afraid to ask Him.
kintu tatkathAM tE nAbudhyanta praSTunjca bibhyaH|
33 And he came to Capernaum; and when He was in the house, He asked them, What were ye disputing about among yourselves by the way?
atha yIzuH kapharnAhUmpuramAgatya madhyEgRhanjcEtya tAnapRcchad vartmamadhyE yUyamanyOnyaM kiM vivadadhvE sma?
34 But they held their peace; for they had been disputing with each other by the way who should be the greatest.
kintu tE niruttarAstasthu ryasmAttESAM kO mukhya iti vartmAni tE'nyOnyaM vyavadanta|
35 So He sat down and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any one would be first, let him be last of all, and servant of all.
tataH sa upavizya dvAdazaziSyAn AhUya babhASE yaH kazcit mukhyO bhavitumicchati sa sarvvEbhyO gauNaH sarvvESAM sEvakazca bhavatu|
36 And He took a child and set him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms He said unto them,
tadA sa bAlakamEkaM gRhItvA madhyE samupAvEzayat tatastaM krOPE kRtvA tAnavAdAt
37 Whoever shall receive one of these little children in my name, receiveth me; and whosoever receiveth me, receiveth not me only, but Him that sent me.
yaH kazcidIdRzasya kasyApi bAlasyAtithyaM karOti sa mamAtithyaM karOti; yaH kazcinmamAtithyaM karOti sa kEvalam mamAtithyaM karOti tanna matprErakasyApyAtithyaM karOti|
38 But John answered Him and said, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name, who doth not follow us; and we forbade him, because he followeth not us.
atha yOhan tamabravIt hE gurO, asmAkamananugAminam EkaM tvAnnAmnA bhUtAn tyAjayantaM vayaM dRSTavantaH, asmAkamapazcAdgAmitvAcca taM nyaSEdhAma|
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no one, that worketh a miracle in my name, and can presently speak evil of me:
kintu yIzuravadat taM mA niSEdhat, yatO yaH kazcin mannAmnA citraM karmma karOti sa sahasA mAM nindituM na zaknOti|
40 for he that is not against us, is for us.
tathA yaH kazcid yuSmAkaM vipakSatAM na karOti sa yuSmAkamEva sapakSaH|
41 For whosoever shall give you but a cup of water to drink, for my sake; because ye are Christ's, I assure you, he shall not lose his reward.
yaH kazcid yuSmAn khrISTaziSyAn jnjAtvA mannAmnA kaMsaikEna pAnIyaM pAtuM dadAti, yuSmAnahaM yathArthaM vacmi, sa phalEna vanjcitO na bhaviSyati|
42 And whosoever shall cause one of these little ones, that believe in me, to offend, it were better for him, if a milstone were laid upon his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
kintu yadi kazcin mayi vizvAsinAmESAM kSudraprANinAm EkasyApi vighnaM janayati, tarhi tasyaitatkarmma karaNAt kaNThabaddhapESaNIkasya tasya sAgarAgAdhajala majjanaM bhadraM|
43 And if thy hand cause thee to offend, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands, to go into hell, into the fire that will never be extinguished; (Geenna )
ataH svakarO yadi tvAM bAdhatE tarhi taM chindhi;
44 where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
yasmAt yatra kITA na mriyantE vahnizca na nirvvAti, tasmin anirvvANAnalanarakE karadvayavastava gamanAt karahInasya svargapravEzastava kSEmaM| (Geenna )
45 And if thy foot cause thee to offend, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life lame, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the inextinguishable fire; (Geenna )
yadi tava pAdO vighnaM janayati tarhi taM chindhi,
46 where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
yatO yatra kITA na mriyantE vahnizca na nirvvAti, tasmin 'nirvvANavahnau narakE dvipAdavatastava nikSEpAt pAdahInasya svargapravEzastava kSEmaM| (Geenna )
47 And if thine eye cause thee to offend, cast it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell-fire; (Geenna )
svanEtraM yadi tvAM bAdhatE tarhi tadapyutpATaya, yatO yatra kITA na mriyantE vahnizca na nirvvAti,
48 where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
tasmina 'nirvvANavahnau narakE dvinEtrasya tava nikSEpAd EkanEtravata IzvararAjyE pravEzastava kSEmaM| (Geenna )
49 For every one shall be as it were salted by fire, and every sacrifice shall be seasoned as with salt.
yathA sarvvO bali rlavaNAktaH kriyatE tathA sarvvO janO vahnirUpENa lavaNAktaH kAriSyatE|
50 Salt is useful, but if the salt become insipid, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt therefore in yourselves, and as a proof of it be at peace one with another.
lavaNaM bhadraM kintu yadi lavaNE svAdutA na tiSThati, tarhi katham AsvAdyuktaM kariSyatha? yUyaM lavaNayuktA bhavata parasparaM prEma kuruta|
