< Mark 7 >
1 And there were gathered unto Him the pharisees, and some of the scribes, from Jerusalem;
Kwasekubuthana kuye abaFarisi, labanye bababhali, ababevela eJerusalema;
2 and when they saw some of his disciples eating with impure (that is, unwashed) hands, they found fault:
sebebonile ukuthi abanye babafundi bakhe badla izinkwa ngezandla ezingcolileyo, okuyikuthi ezingagezwanga, basola.
3 for the pharisees, and indeed all the Jews, do not eat till they have washed their hands thoroughly, observing the tradition of the ancients.
Ngoba abaFarisi lamaJuda bonke kabadli, ngaphandle kokuthi bagezisise izandla zabo, belondoloza isiko labadala.
4 And when they come from the market, they do not eat till they have washed. And there are many other things, which they have received to observe, as the washing of cups, and pots, and brass-vessels, and seats.
Nxa bevela emdangeni, kabadli, ngaphandle kokuthi bageze; futhi zikhona ezinye izinto ezinengi abazemukelayo ukuzilondoloza, ukugezisa inkezo lembiza lezitsha zethusi lemibheda.
5 Then the pharisees and the scribes ask Him, Why do not thy disciples walk according to the tradition of the ancients, but eat without washing their hands?
Emva kwalokhu abaFarisi lababhali bambuza bathi: Kungani abafundi bakho bengahambi ngesiko labadala, kodwa badla isinkwa ngezandla ezingahlanjwanga?
6 But He answered them, Well did Esaias prophesy concerning you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me:
Kodwa waphendula wathi kubo: UIsaya waprofetha kuhle ngani lina bazenzisi, njengokulotshiweyo ukuthi: Lesisizwe singidumisa ngezindebe, kodwa inhliziyo yabo ikhatshana lami.
7 and in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the injunctions of men.
Kodwa zingikhonza ngeze, zifundisa izimfundiso eziyimilayo yabantu.
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye retain the tradition of men, as the washings of pots and cups, and many other such like things.
Ngoba liyekela umlayo kaNkulunkulu, ligcine isiko labantu, ukugezisa imbiza lenkezo; lezinye izinto ezinengi ezinjalo liyazenza.
9 And ye expressly annul the commandment of God, that ye may retain your own tradition;
Wasesithi kubo: Liyachitha kuhle umlayo kaNkulunkulu, ukuze lilondoloze isiko lenu.
10 for Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, He that revileth father or mother, let him be put to death:
Ngoba uMozisi wathi: Hlonipha uyihlo lonyoko; lokuthi: Othuka uyise kumbe unina kumele afe ukufa;
11 but ye say, If a man tell his father or mother, That which thou mightest be profited by from me is Corban, (that is, a gift to the temple) it sufficeth:
kodwa lina lithi: Aluba umuntu esithi kuyise kumbe kunina: Lokho obungasizwa yimi ngakho, "liKhobane", okuyikuthi umnikelo kuNkulunkulu;
12 and so ye allow him to do nothing more for his father or his mother:
kalisamvumeli ukwenzela uyise kumbe unina ulutho,
13 making void the word of God by your tradition, And many such like things ye do.
lilenza ize ilizwi likaNkulunkulu ngesiko lenu eliliqhubayo; lezinto ezinengi ezinjalo liyazenza.
14 And calling all the people to Him, He said unto them,
Esebizile kuye ixuku lonke, wathi kilo: Ngilalelani lonke, liqedisise.
15 Hear me all of you, and understand, There is nothing without a man, which entring into him can defile him: but the things proceeding from him are those which defile a man.
Kalukho ulutho olungaphandle komuntu olungamngcolisa lungena kuye; kodwa izinto eziphuma kuye, yizo lezo ezingcolisa umuntu.
16 If any one hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Uba ekhona olendlebe zokuzwa akezwe.
17 And when He was come into the house, away from the multitude, his disciples asked Him concerning the meaning of the parable.
Esengenile endlini evela exukwini, abafundi bakhe bambuza ngomfanekiso.
18 And He saith unto them, Are ye so void of understanding also? Do ye not know, that whatsoever from without entreth into a man cannot defile him?
Wasesithi kubo: Ngokunjalo lani lingabangelakuqedisisa yini? Kaliqedisisi yini ukuthi konke okungaphandle okungena emuntwini kungemngcolise?
19 because it entreth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all his food.
Ngoba kakungeni enhliziyweni yakhe, kodwa esiswini, kuphumele ngaphandle, kuhlambulula ukudla konke.
20 But said He, What cometh out of a man, that defileth the man;
Wasesithi: Okuphumayo emuntwini, yikho okungcolisa umuntu.
21 for out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts,
Ngoba kuphuma ngaphakathi enhliziyweni yabantu imicabango emibi, ukuphinga, ukufeba, ukubulala,
22 adulteries, fornications, murthers, thefts, avarice, malice, deceit, lasciviousness, envy, slander, pride, folly;
ukweba, ubuhwaba, ukuxhwala, inkohliso, amanyala, ilihlo elibi, inhlamba, ukuzigqaja, ubuthutha;
23 all these evils come from within and defile the man.
zonke lezizinto ezimbi zivela ngaphakathi, zimngcolise umuntu.
24 And He arose and went from thence to the borders of Tyre and Sidon; and going into a house He would have had no body know it, but He could not be concealed: for a woman,
Wasesukuma lapho waya emikhawulweni yeTire leSidoni. Wangena endlini, engathandi ukuthi kwaziwe muntu, kodwa wayengelakufihlakala.
25 whose child was possessed by an evil spirit, having heard of Him, came and fell at his feet,
Ngoba owesifazana, olentombazana yakhe elomoya ongcolileyo, esezwile ngaye, weza wawa phansi enyaweni zakhe;
26 (now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation, ) and she besought Him to cast out the demon from her daughter.
njalo owesifazana wayengumGriki, engumSirofenike ngokuzalwa; wasemncenga ukuthi akhuphe idimoni endodakazini yakhe.
27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be satisfied: for it is not fit to take the children's bread, and throw it to the dogs.
Kodwa uJesu wathi kuye: Ake kusuthe abantwana kuqala; ngoba kakukuhle ukuthatha isinkwa sabantwana sisiphosele izinjana.
28 And she answered and said unto Him, True, Lord, yet the dogs under the table, eat of the children's crumbs.
Kodwa waphendula wathi kuye: Yebo, Nkosi; kodwa lezinjana ezingaphansi kwetafula ziyadla imvuthuluka yabantwana.
29 And He said unto her, For this saying, go thy way, the demon is gone out of thy daughter.
Wasesithi kuye: Ngenxa yalokhukutsho hamba-ke; idimoni liphumile endodakazini yakho.
30 And she went away to her house, and found the demon gone out, and her daughter laid on the bed.
Wasesuka waya endlini yakhe, wafica idimoni seliphumile, lendodakazi ilele embhedeni.
31 And departing again out of the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, He came to the sea of Galilee thro' the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.
Wasebuya wasuka emikhawulweni yeTire leSidoni, weza elwandle lweGalili, phakathi kwemikhawulo yeDikapolisi.
32 And they brought to Him a deaf man, who had likewise an impediment in his speech, and pray Him to put his hand upon him.
Basebeletha kuye isacuthe esigagasayo, bamncenga ukuthi abeke isandla sakhe phezu kwaso.
33 And He took him aside out of the croud, and He spit and put his fingers into his ears, and touched his tongue:
Wasesikhupha exukwini sabasodwa, wafaka iminwe yakhe endlebeni zaso, wakhafula wathinta ulimi lwaso,
34 and looking up to heaven He sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, be opened:
ekhangela phezulu ezulwini, wabubula, wathi kuso: "Efatha"; okuyikuthi: Vulwa!
35 and immediately his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake distinctly.
Njalo zahle zavulwa indlebe zaso; yasithukululwa intambo yolimi lwaso, sasesikhuluma saqonda.
36 And He charged them to tell no one, but the more He charged them, the more they published it:
Wasebalaya ukuthi bangatsheli muntu; kodwa lanxa wayebalayile kakhulu, kwang'khona bekumemezela ngamandla.
37 and were exceedingly astonished, saying, He hath done all things well; he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
Basebemangala kakhulukazi sibili, bathi: Uzenzile kuhle izinto zonke; wenza kokubili izacuthe ukuthi zizwe, lezimungulu ukuthi zikhulume.
