Mark 4
1 And He began to teach again by the sea-side, and there was gathered unto Him a great multitude; so that He went into a ship, and sat on board, and all the people were by the sea, upon the shore.
Et iterum coepit docere ad mare: et congregata est ad eum turba multa, ita ut navim ascendens sederet in mari, et omnis turba circa mare super terram erat:
2 And He taught them many things by similitudes, and said to them in his instruction,
et docebat eos in parabolis multa, et dicebat illis in doctrina sua:
3 hearken, Behold a sower went out to sow:
Audite: ecce exiit seminans ad seminandum.
4 and in sowing, some fell by the way-side, and the birds came and ate it up:
Et dum seminat, aliud cecidit circa viam, et venerunt volucres caeli, et comederunt illud.
5 and some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth, and it sprang up immediately, because it had not depth of earth;
Aliud vero cecidit super petrosa, ubi non habuit terram multam: et statim exortum est, quoniam non habebat altitudinem terrae:
6 but when the sun rose, it was burnt up, and withered because it had no root:
et quando exortus est sol, exaestuavit: et eo quod non habebat radicem, exaruit.
7 and some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no fruit:
Et aliud cecidit in spinas: et ascenderunt spinae, et suffocaverunt illud, et fructum non dedit.
8 and other fell on good ground, and yielded fruit springing up and increasing; and produced some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred-fold.
Et aliud cecidit in terram bonam: et dabat fructum ascendentem, et crescentem, et afferebat unum trigesimum, unum sexagesimum, et unum centesimum.
9 And He said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Et dicebat: Qui habet aures audiendi, audiat.
10 And when He was apart from the multitude, those that were about Him with the twelve asked Him concerning the parable.
Et cum esset singularis, interrogaverunt eum hi, qui cum eo erant duodecim, parabolam.
11 And he said unto them, To you it is granted to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but unto them that are without all things are delivered in parables:
Et dicebat eis: Vobis datum est nosse mysterium regni Dei: illis autem, qui foris sunt, in parabolis omnia fiunt:
12 that in seeing they may see and not perceive, and in hearing they may hear and not understand, least they should be converted, and their sins be forgiven them.
ut videntes videant, et non videant: et audientes audiant, et non intelligant: nequando convertantur, et dimittantur eis peccata.
13 Then saith He unto them, Do ye not understand this parable? how then will ye understand all my other parables.
Et ait illis: Nescitis parabolam hanc? et quomodo omnes parabolas cognoscetis?
14 The sower is he that soweth the word. And these are they by the way-side:
Qui seminat, verbum seminat.
15 where the word is sown; but when they have heard it, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
Hi autem sunt, qui circa viam, ubi seminatur verbum, et cum audierint, confestim venit satanas, et aufert verbum, quod seminatum est in cordibus eorum.
16 And in like manner, they that are sown as on stony grounds are such, as when they hear the word,
Et hi sunt similiter, qui super petrosa seminantur: qui cum audierint verbum, statim cum gaudio accipiunt illud:
17 immediately receive it with joy, but have no root in themselves, and so continue but for a short season: and then, when affliction cometh, or persecution on account of the word, they are as soon offended.
et non habent radicem in se, sed temporales sunt: deinde orta tribulatione et persecutione propter verbum, confestim scandalizantur.
18 And those that are sown as among thorns, are these: such as hear the word indeed,
Et alii sunt, qui in spinas seminantur: hi sunt, qui verbum audiunt,
19 but the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and inordinate desires after other things entering in choke the word, and so it becometh unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
et aerumnae saeculi, et deceptio divitiarum, et circa reliqua concupiscentiae introeuntes suffocant verbum, et sine fructu efficitur. (aiōn g165)
20 And these are they who are like seed sown on good ground: such as hear the word, and receive it; and bring forth fruit, some thirty-fold, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
Et hi sunt, qui super terram bonam seminati sunt, qui audiunt verbum, et suscipiunt, et fructificant, unum trigesimum, unum sexagesimum, et unum centesimum.
21 And He said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or a bed, and not to be set on a candlestick?
Et dicebat illis: Numquid venit lucerna ut sub modo ponatur, aut sub lecto? nonne ut super candelabrum ponatur?
22 for there is nothing hidden, which may not be revealed; nor was there any thing concealed, but in order to become manifest.
Non est enim aliquid absconditum, quod non manifestetur: nec factum est occultum, quod non in palam veniat.
23 If any one hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Si quis habet aures audiendi, audiat.
24 And mind what ye hear: for with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you; and more shall be imparted to you that are observant:
Et dicebat illis: Videte quid audiatis. In qua mensura mensi fueritis, remetietur vobis, et adiicietur vobis.
25 for whosoever hath, to him more shall be given; and he that hath not, even what he hath, or seemeth to have, shall be taken from him.
Qui enim habet, dabitur illi: et qui non habet, etiam quod habet auferetur ab eo.
26 And He said, The kingdom of God is as if a man should cast seed into the ground,
Et dicebat: Sic est regnum Dei, quemadmodum si homo iaciat sementem in terram,
27 and sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring up, and increase; he knows not how.
et dormiat, et exurgat nocte et die, et semen germinet, et increscat dum nescit ille.
28 For the earth produces fruit of itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full corn in the ear:
Ultro enim terra fructificat, primum herbam, deinde spicam, deinde plenum frumentum in spica.
29 but when the fruit is ripe, he immediately puts in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
Et cum ex se produxerit fructus, statim mittit falcem, quoniam adest messis.
30 And He said, To what shall we compare the kingdom of God, or by what similitude shall we represent it?
Et dicebat: Cui assimilabimus regnum Dei? aut cui parabolae comparabimus illud?
31 It is like to a grain of mustard-seed, which when it is sown in the ground, is one of the lest of all the seeds on the earth:
Sicut granum sinapis, quod cum seminatum fuerit in terra, minus est omnibus seminibus, quae sunt in terra:
32 but after it is sown, it grows up, and becomes greater than all herbs, and produces large branches, so that the birds of the air may lodge under it's shadow.
et cum natum fuerit, ascendit in arborem, et fit maius omnibus oleribus, et facit ramos magnos, ita ut possint sub umbra eius aves caeli habitare.
33 And in many such parables spake He the word to them, as they had ability to hear it: but spake not to them without a parable.
Et talibus multis parabolis loquebatur eis verbum, prout poterant audire:
34 And He explained all to his disciples in private.
sine parabola autem non loquebatur eis. seorsum autem discipulis suis disserebat omnia.
35 And the same day, in the evening, He saith to them, Let us go over to the other side.
Et ait illis in illa die, cum sero esset factum: Transeamus contra.
36 So they dismissed the multitude, and took Him as He was in the ship. But there were other small vessels likewise with Him.
Et dimittentes turbam, assumunt eum ita ut erat in navi: et aliae naves erant cum illo.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now almost full.
Et facta est procella magna venti, et fluctus mittebat in navim, ita ut impleretur navis.
38 And He was in the stern asleep on a pillow: and they awake Him, and say unto Him, Master, art thou under no concern that we are perishing?
Et erat ipse in puppi super cervical dormiens: et excitant eum, et dicunt illi: Magister, non ad te pertinet, quia perimus?
39 And He rose and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still; and the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Et exurgens comminatus est vento, et dixit mari: Tace, obmutesce. Et cessavit ventus: et facta est tranquillitas magna.
40 And He said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how! have ye no faith?
Et ait illis: Quid timidi estis? necdum habetis fidem?
41 And they were exceedingly afraid, and said to one another, Who is this? that even the wind and the sea obey Him?
et timuerunt timore magno, et dicebant ad alterutrum: Quis, putas, est iste, quia et ventus et mare obediunt ei?
