Luke 11
1 And as He was praying in a certain retired place, as soon as He had done, one of his disciples said to Him, Lord, teach us to pray as John also taught his disciples.
Cuando terminó de orar en un lugar, uno de sus discípulos le dijo: “Señor, enséñanos a orar, como también Juan enseñó a sus discípulos.”
2 And He said unto them, when ye pray, say, "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done as in heaven so also upon earth;
Les dijo: “Cuando oréis, decid, ‘Padre nuestro que estás en el cielo’, que tu nombre sea sagrado. Que venga tu Reino. Que se haga tu voluntad en la tierra, como en el cielo.
3 give us day by day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins,
Danos cada día el pan de cada día.
4 for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."
Perdona nuestros pecados, porque nosotros también perdonamos a todos los que están en deuda con nosotros. No nos dejes caer en la tentación, pero líbranos del maligno”.
5 And He said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go to him at midnight, and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine on his journey is come to me,
Les dijo: “¿Quién de vosotros, si va a un amigo a medianoche y le dice: “Amigo, préstame tres panes,
6 and I have nothing to set before him:
porque un amigo mío ha venido de viaje y no tengo nada que ponerle delante”,
7 and he from within shall answer and say, Do not be troublesome; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed, I cannot rise to give thee.
y él, desde dentro, le responde y le dice: “No me molestes. La puerta está cerrada y mis hijos están conmigo en la cama. No puedo levantarme y dárselo’?
8 I tell you, tho' he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend: yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he wants.
Os digo que, aunque no se levante a dárselo porque es su amigo, por su insistencia se levantará y le dará todos los que necesite.
9 And so I tell you, Ask and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.
“Os digo que sigáis pidiendo y se os dará. Sigan buscando y encontrarán. Seguid llamando, y se os abrirá.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth, and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Porque todo el que pide recibe. El que busca encuentra. Al que llama se le abrirá.
11 If a son ask bread of any father among you, will he give him a stone? and if he ask for a fish, will he instead of a fish give him a serpent? or if he ask for an egg,
“¿Quién de vosotros, padres, si su hijo le pide pan, le dará una piedra? O si le pide un pescado, acaso le dará una serpiente en lugar de un pescado, ¿verdad?
12 will he give him a scorpion?
O si le pide un huevo, no le dará un escorpión, ¿verdad?
13 If ye then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the holy Spirit to them that ask Him?
Si ustedes, siendo malos, saben dar buenos regalos a sus hijos, ¿cuánto más su Padre celestial dará el Espíritu Santo a los que se lo pidan?”
14 And He was casting out a demon, and it was dumb: and when the demon was gone out, the dumb man spake; and the people wondered.
Estaba expulsando a un demonio, y éste era mudo. Cuando el demonio salió, el mudo habló; y las multitudes se maravillaron.
15 But some of them said, He casteth out demons by Beelzebub the prince of demons:
Pero algunos de ellos decían: “Expulsa los demonios por Beelzebul, el príncipe de los demonios.”
16 and others, to try Him, desired of Him a sign from heaven.
Otros, poniéndole a prueba, pedían de él una señal del cielo.
17 But He who well knew their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself becomes desolate, and a house against a house falleth: if Satan also be divided against himself,
Pero él, conociendo sus pensamientos, les dijo: “Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo es asolado. Una casa dividida contra sí misma cae.
18 how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say, that I cast out demons by Beelzebub.
Si también Satanás está dividido contra sí mismo, ¿cómo permanecerá su reino? Porque decís que yo expulso los demonios por Beelzebul.
19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your own people cast them out? wherefore they shall be your judges.
Pero si yo expulso los demonios por Beelzebul, ¿por quién los expulsan vuestros hijos? Por tanto, ellos serán vuestros jueces.
20 But if I cast out demons by the power of God, you may be sure the kingdom of God is come unto you:
Pero si yo expulso los demonios por el dedo de Dios, entonces el Reino de Dios ha llegado a vosotros.
21 for when a strong man well-armed defends his palace, his substance is secure:
“Cuando el hombre fuerte, completamente armado, vigila su propia morada, sus bienes están a salvo.
22 but when a stronger than he cometh upon him and conquers him, he taketh away his armour, wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.
Pero cuando alguien más fuerte lo ataca y lo vence, le quita toda la armadura en la que confiaba y reparte su botín.
23 He, that is not with me, is against me; and he, that gathereth not with me, scattereth.
“El que no está conmigo está contra mí. El que no se reúne conmigo se dispersa.
24 When an impure spirit is gone out of a man, he wanders through dry desert places, seeking rest: and finding none he saith, I will return into my house, that I came out of;
El espíritu inmundo, cuando ha salido del hombre, pasa por lugares secos, buscando descanso; y al no encontrarlo, dice: ‘Me volveré a mi casa de donde salí’.
25 and when he cometh he findeth it swept and set in order.
Cuando regresa, la encuentra barrida y ordenada.
26 Then he goeth and taketh with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and so the last state of that man is worse than the first.
Entonces va y toma otros siete espíritus más malos que él, y entran y habitan allí. El último estado de ese hombre llega a ser peor que el primero”.
27 As He was speaking these things, a certain woman lifted up her voice from amidst the croud, and said, Happy is the womb that bare thee, and the breasts which thou didst suck!
Mientras decía estas cosas, una mujer de entre la multitud alzó la voz y le dijo: “¡Bendito sea el vientre que te llevó y los pechos que te amamantaron!”
28 but He replied, Yea rather happy are they, that hear the word of God and keep it.
Pero él dijo: “Al contrario, bienaventurados los que escuchan la palabra de Dios y la guardan”.
29 And when the multitudes were gathering thick together He began to say, This is a wicked generation: they demand a sign, but no sign shall be given them, except that of the prophet Jonah:
Cuando las multitudes se reunieron con él, comenzó a decir: “Esta es una generación malvada. Busca una señal. No se le dará otra señal que la del profeta Jonás.
30 for as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.
Porque así como Jonás fue una señal para los ninivitas, así también lo será el Hijo del Hombre para esta generación.
31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the day of judgement against the men of this generation and condemn them: for she came from the remote parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold a greater than Solomon is here.
La Reina del Sur se levantará en el juicio con los hombres de esta generación y los condenará, porque ha venido desde los confines de la tierra para escuchar la sabiduría de Salomón; y he aquí que uno más grande que Salomón está aquí.
32 And the men of Nineveh shall rise up in the judgement against this generation, and condemn it; for they repented upon the preaching of Jonas, and behold a greater than Jonas is here.
Los hombres de Nínive se levantarán en el juicio con esta generación y la condenarán, porque se arrepintieron ante la predicación de Jonás; y he aquí que uno más grande que Jonás está aquí.
33 But yet no one having lighted a candle putteth it into a secret place, nor under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they who come in may see the light.
“Nadie, cuando ha encendido una lámpara, la pone en un sótano o debajo de un cesto, sino sobre un soporte, para que los que entren puedan ver la luz.
34 The eye is the candle of the body: therefore when thine eye is clear, thy whole body also is light; but when it is bad, thy body also is dark.
La lámpara del cuerpo es el ojo. Por eso, cuando tu ojo es bueno, todo tu cuerpo está también lleno de luz; pero cuando es malo, también tu cuerpo está lleno de oscuridad.
35 Take heed therefore least the light which is in thee be darkness.
Mira, pues, si la luz que hay en ti no es oscuridad.
36 For if thy whole body be light, having no part dark, it will be (when all enlightened) as when a candle giveth thee light by its brightness.
Si, pues, todo tu cuerpo está lleno de luz, sin que haya ninguna parte oscura, estará totalmente lleno de luz, como cuando la lámpara con su resplandor te alumbra.”
37 And as He spake, a certain pharisee asked Him to dine with him: and He went in and sat down at table.
Mientras hablaba, un fariseo le pidió que cenara con él. Entró y se sentó a la mesa.
38 And when the pharisee saw it he wondered that He did not wash first, before dinner.
Cuando el fariseo lo vio, se maravilló de que no se hubiera lavado antes de cenar.
39 But the Lord said unto him, ye pharisees clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but your inward part is full of rapine and wickedness.
El Señor le dijo: “Ahora bien, vosotros, fariseos, limpiáis el exterior de la copa y del plato, pero vuestro interior está lleno de extorsión y de maldad.
40 Senseless creatures! Did not He who made the outside, make also that which is within? give alms rather according to your ability:
Vosotros, insensatos, ¿no hizo también lo de dentro el que hizo lo de fuera?
41 and behold all things are clean to you.
Pero dad por regalos a los necesitados lo que hay dentro, y he aquí que todo os quedará limpio.
42 But wo unto you pharisees, who tithe even your mint, and rue, and all your herbs, and pass by judgement and the love of God: these ought ye to practise and not to omit the others.
Pero ¡ay de vosotros, fariseos! Porque diezmáis la menta y la ruda y toda hierba, pero dejáis de lado la justicia y el amor de Dios. Deberíais haber hecho esto, y no haber dejado de hacer lo otro.
43 Wo unto you pharisees; for ye love the chief seat in synagogues, and salutations in public places.
¡Ay de vosotros, fariseos! Porque amáis los mejores asientos en las sinagogas y los saludos en las plazas.
44 Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; for ye are like graves that do not appear, and those that walk over them are not aware of them.
¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! Porque sois como sepulcros ocultos, y los hombres que andan sobre ellos no lo saben”.
45 And one of the doctors of the law answered and said unto Him, Master, in saying these things thou reproachest us also.
Uno de los abogados le respondió: “Maestro, al decir esto también nos insultas”.
46 And He said, Wo unto you also, ye interpreters of the law, for ye load men with insupportable burthens, and ye yourselves touch not the burthens with one of your fingers.
Dijo: “¡Ay de ustedes, los abogados! Porque cargáis a los hombres con cargas difíciles de llevar, y vosotros mismos no levantáis ni un dedo para ayudar a llevar esas cargas.
47 Wo unto you; who build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
¡Ay de ustedes! Porque construís las tumbas de los profetas, y vuestros padres los mataron.
48 Thus ye testify that ye approve of the deeds of your fathers; for they put them to death, and ye build their sepulchres.
Así pues, vosotros dais testimonio y consentid en las obras de vuestros padres. Porque ellos los mataron, y vosotros construís sus tumbas.
49 And therefore the wisdom of God hath said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute:
Por eso también la sabiduría de Dios dijo: ‘Les enviaré profetas y apóstoles; y a algunos de ellos los matarán y perseguirán,
50 that the blood of all the prophets which has been shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah,
para que la sangre de todos los profetas, que fue derramada desde la fundación del mundo, sea requerida de esta generación,
51 who perished between the altar and the temple. Verily I tell you, it shall be required of this generation.
desde la sangre de Abel hasta la sangre de Zacarías, que pereció entre el altar y el santuario.’ Sí, os digo que se exigirá a esta generación.
52 Wo unto you interpreters of the law; for ye have taken away the key of knowledge, ye entered not in yourselves, and those that were entering in, ye hindered.
¡Ay de vosotros, abogados! Porque os habéis llevado la llave del conocimiento. Vosotros mismos no entrasteis, y a los que entraban, se lo impedisteis”.
53 As He was saying these things unto them the scribes and pharisees began vehemently to attack Him, and urge Him to speak of many things,
Mientras les decía estas cosas, los escribas y los fariseos empezaron a enojarse terriblemente, y con vehemencia le hacían preguntas,
54 laying snares for Him, and endeavouring to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse Him.
acechándole y buscando sorprenderle en algo que pudiera decir, para acusarle.
