John 16
1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye may not be offended:
“Ngilitshela konke lokhu ukuze ukholo lwenu lunganyikinyeki.
2 for they will excommunicate you: yea, the time is coming, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he offers an acceptable service to God.
Bazalixotsha esinagogweni; ngempela siyeza isikhathi lapho abazalibulala khona bezitshela ukuthi benzela uNkulunkulu into enhle.
3 And these things will they do unto you; because they have not known the Father, nor me.
Bazakwenza lokhu ngoba kabamazanga uBaba loba mina.
4 But I have told you these things, that when the time cometh, ye may remember that I told you of them. Though I did not tell you of them at the beginning, because I was with you.
Ngilitshela lokhu ukuze kuthi isikhathi lesi sifika likhumbule ukuthi ngalixwayisa ngaso. Kangilitshelanga lokhu ekuqaleni ngoba ngangilani.”
5 But now I am going away to Him that sent me, and yet none of you asketh me, Whither art thou going? but because I have said these things to you,
“Kodwa khathesi sengisiya kuye ongithumileyo. Kakho kini ongibuzayo ukuthi, ‘Uya ngaphi na?’
6 sorrow hath filled your heart.
Kodwa ngenxa yokuba sengizitshilo lezizinto, selihlulukelwe.
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth, it is expedient for you that I should go away; for if I go not away, the comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you.
Ngilitshela iqiniso ngithi: Kulungele lina ukuba ngihambe. Ngaphandle kokuthi ngihambe, uMeli akayikuza kini; kodwa nxa ngihamba, ngizamthuma kini.
8 And when He comes, He will convince the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement:
Lapho efika uzatshengisa umhlaba ukuthi ulahlekile ngesono, ngokulunga langokwahlulelwa:
9 of sin, because they believe not on me;
ngokwesono, ngoba abantu kabakholwa kimi;
10 of righteousness, because I am going to my Father and ye shall see me no more;
ngokulunga, ngoba ngiya kuBaba, lapho elingasayi kungibona khona njalo;
11 and of judgement, because the prince of this world is judged.
langokwahlulelwa, ngoba umbusi walo umhlaba usemiselwe ukulahlwa.
12 I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now.
Kusasekunengi engingakutsho kini, kodwa kungalisinda.
13 But when the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He will not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that will He speak, and will shew you things to come.
Kodwa yena uMoya weqiniso nxa esefikile uzalikhokhelela kulolonke iqiniso. Kazukuzikhulumela yena; uzakhuluma lokho akuzwayo kuphela, njalo uzalitshela lokho okusazobuya.
14 He shall glorify me, for He shall take of mine and shew it unto you.
Uzaletha inkazimulo kini ngokuthatha kulokho okungokwami akwenze kwazakale kini.
15 All that the Father hath are mine: therefore I said, that He shall take of mine and shew it unto you.
Konke okungokukaBaba ngokwami. Yikho ngithe uMoya uzathatha kokungokwami akwenze kwazakale kini.”
16 A little while and ye shall not see me: and again a little while and ye shall see me, because I am going to the Father.
UJesu waqhubeka esithi, “Ngesikhatshana aliyi kungibona, kodwa ngemva kwesikhatshana lizangibona.”
17 Some of his disciples therefore said one to another, What is the meaning of this that He saith to us, A little while and ye shall not see me, and again a little while and ye shall see me, and---because I am going to the Father?
Abanye babafundi bakhe bakhulumisana bathi, “Utshoni ngokuthi, ‘Ngemva kwesikhatshana kalisayikungibona,’ njalo athi, ‘Kuthi ngemva kwesikhatshana lizangibona njalo, Ngoba ngiya kuBaba’ na?”
18 they said therefore, What is this little while that He speaks of? we do not understand what He means.
Babelokhu bebuza besithi, “Utshoni nxa esithi ‘isikhatshana’? Kasikuzwisisi lokho akutshoyo.”
19 Now Jesus knew that they wanted to ask Him, and therefore said unto them, Are ye enquiring among each other about this, that I said, A little while and ye shall not see me, and again a little while and ye shall see me?
UJesu wabona ukuthi babefuna ukumbuza ngalokhu, wasesithi kubo, “Liyabuzana ukuthi bengisitshoni ngize ngithi, ‘Ngemva kwesikhatshana kalisayikungibona’?
20 Verily I tell you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
Ngilitshela iqiniso ukuthi lizakhala lilile kodwa umhlaba wona uthokoza. Lizakuba losizi, kodwa usizi lwenu luzakuba yintokozo.
21 A woman when she is in labor, hath sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she is delivered of the child, she thinks no more of the anguish, for joy, that a man is born into the world.
Owesifazane nxa ebeletha uzwa ubuhlungu ngoba isikhathi sakhe sesifikile; kodwa nxa umntwana esezelwe uyabukhohlwa ubuhlungu lobo ngenxa yentokozo yokuthi sekuzelwe umntwana emhlabeni.
22 And ye therefore now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy shall no one take from you.
Kunjalo lakini: Manje yisikhathi senu sosizi, kodwa ngizaphinda ngilibone beselithokoza, njalo kakho ozaphinda alemuke intokozo yenu.
23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing: but I assure you, that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, He will give it you.
Ngalolosuku kaliyi kungibuza lutho. Ngiqinisile ngithi kini, uBaba wami uzalinika loba yini eliyicela ngebizo lami.
24 Hitherto ye have asked for nothing in my name: ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
Kuze kube manje kalikaceli lutho ngebizo lami. Celani, lizakwamukeliswa, ukuze ukuthokoza kwenu kuphelele.
25 These things have I spoken to you in parables: but the time is coming when I shall no more speak to you in parables, but tell you with plainness concerning the Father.
Lanxa bengikhuluma ngemizekeliso, siyeza isikhathi lapho ngingasayikukhuluma ngaleyondlela, kodwa engizalitshela khona kamhlophe ngoBaba.
26 In that day ye shall ask in my name; and I do not say that I will ask the Father on your behalf.
Ngalelolanga lizacela ngebizo lami. Kangitsho ukuthi ngizalicelela kuBaba.
27 For the Father himself loveth you; because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came from God: and I indeed came from the Father,
Hatshi, uBaba yena ngokwakhe uyalithanda ngoba lingithandile, lakukholwa ukuthi ngavela kuNkulunkulu.
28 and am come into the world: but now I am leaving the world again, and am going to the Father.
Ngavela kuBaba ngangena emhlabeni; okwamanje sengiwutshiya umhlaba sengibuyela kuBaba.”
29 His disciples said unto Him, Now indeed Thou speakest plainly, and usest no parable.
Abafundi bakaJesu basebesithi, “Khathesi usukhuluma kamhlophe ungasazekelisi.
30 Now we are convinced that Thou knowest all things, and hast no need that any one should ask Thee: by this we believe that Thou camest forth from God.
Khathesi sesibona ukuthi uyazazi izinto zonke lokuthi kakudingeki ukuthi ubuzwe imibuzo. Lokhu kwenza ukuthi sikholwe ukuba wavela kuNkulunkulu.”
31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
UJesu waphendula wathi, “Khathesi selikholwa na?
32 Behold, the time is coming, and is even now come, that ye shall be dispersed every one his own way, and shall leave me alone: but I am not alone, for the Father is with me.
Kodwa siyeza isikhathi, sesifikile, lapho elizachitheka khona, ngulowo aye ngakibo. Lizangitshiya ngedwa lonke. Ikanti kangingedwa ngoba uBaba ulami.
33 These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have trouble: but be of good courage, I have overcome the world.
Ngilitshele izinto lezi ukuze libe lokuthula kimi. Kulumhlaba lizahlupheka. Kodwa wobani lesibindi! Sengiwunqobile umhlaba.”
