< James 2 >
1 My brethren, hold not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, in a partial respect of persons.
Abooluganda, mmwe abakkiririza mu Mukama waffe Yesu Kristo, Mukama ow’ekitiibwa, temusosolanga mu bantu.
2 For if there come into your synagogue a man with a gold ring in fine clothes, and there come in also a poor man in a mean habit;
Kubanga singa omuntu omu ajja mu kuŋŋaaniro lyammwe, ng’ayambadde engoye ez’omuwendo omunene, ng’anaanise n’empeta eza zaabu ku ngalo ze, mu kiseera kye kimu ne wajjawo n’omusajja omwavu ng’ali mu ngoye ezisensusesensuse,
3 and ye turn your eyes toward him that weareth the fine clothes, and say to him, Sit thou here in an honorable place; and say to the poor man, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
ne mwaniriza omugagga, ne mumugamba nti, “Tuulira wano kyokka ne mugamba omwavu nti ggwe oyinza okuyimirira wali, oba si ekyo tuula wano wansi w’akatebe kwe nteeka ebigere byange,”
4 do ye not make a partial difference within yourselves, and become judges that reason wickedly?
kale muba temwesosoddeemu mwekka na mwekka nga mukyamizibwa ebirowoozo byammwe ebibi?
5 Hear, my beloved brethren; hath not God chosen the poor of this world who are rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom, which He hath promised to them that love Him? but ye have slighted the poor.
Mumpulirize, abooluganda abaagalwa, Katonda teyalonda abo ensi b’eyita abaavu, okuba abagagga mu kukkiriza, era okuba abasika ab’obwakabaka obw’omu ggulu, Katonda bwe yasuubiza abo abamwagala?
6 Do not the rich tyrannize over you; and drag you to their tribunals?
Naye munyooma omwavu. Abagagga si be babanyigiriza ne babatwala ne mu mbuga z’amateeka?
7 Do they not blaspheme the glorious name by which ye are called?
Era si be banyoomoola erinnya eddungi lye muyitibwa?
8 If ye fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture, which saith, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well.
Kiba kirungi nnyo era kya kitiibwa bwe mugondera etteeka eriri mu Kyawandiikibwa erigamba nti, “Yagalanga muliraanwa wo nga bwe weeyagala wekka.”
9 But if ye partially respect persons, ye commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.
Naye bwe musosola mu bantu muba mukoze kibi, n’etteeka libasingisa omusango ng’aboonoonyi.
10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law besides, but offend in one point, he is under the penalty of all:
Era omuntu akwata amateeka gonna, naye n’asobyako erimu, omusango gumusinga mu ngeri y’emu ng’oli asobezza amateeka gonna.
11 for He that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou do not commit adultery, but committest murder, thou art a transgressor of the law.
Kubanga Katonda eyagamba nti, “Toyendanga,” era y’omu eyagamba nti, “Tottanga.” Noolwekyo singa toyenda, naye n’otta oba mumenyi wa mateeka gonna.
12 So speak, and so act, as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty.
Noolwekyo mwogere era mukole ng’amateeka ag’eddembe bwe gali naye nga mumanyi nti tunaatera okulamulwa.
13 For he shall have judgement without mercy, that hath not shewn mercy: but mercy triumpheth over judgement.
Kubanga abo abatalina kisa, nabo tebalikwatirwa kisa. Ekisa kiwangula omusango.
14 What is the advantage, my brethren, if any one say that he has faith, and he hath not works, can faith alone save him?
Abooluganda, kibagasa ki okugamba nti mulina okukkiriza kyokka ng’okukkiriza kwammwe temukwoleka mu bikolwa? Mulowooza ng’okukkiriza ng’okwo kugenda kubalokola?
15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food;
Singa muganda wo oba mwannyoko takyalina kyakwambala wadde ekyokulya,
16 and one of you say to them, Go in peace, be ye warmed and be ye filled: but ye give them not the necessaries of life, what profit is it to them?
naye omu ku mmwe n’amugamba nti, “Genda mirembe, obugume, era olye bulungi”, naye nga tamuwaddeeyo byetaago bya mubiri, olwo kimugasa ki?
17 so faith, if it have not works, being alone, is dead.
Noolwekyo n’okukkiriza bwe kutyo; bwe kutabaako bikolwa kuba kufu.
18 But one may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith by thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Naye omuntu ayinza okugamba nti, “Ggwe olina okukkiriza nange nnina ebikolwa; ndaga okukkiriza kwo okutaliiko bikolwa, nange nkulage ebikolwa byange nga bwe bikakasa okukkiriza kwange.”
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou dost well: the devils also believe and tremble.
Okukkiriza obukkiriza nti waliwo Katonda omu yekka, kirungi. Naye ne baddayimooni nabo bakkiriza n’okukankana ne bakankana!
20 But desirest thou to know, O vain man, that faith without works, is dead?
Musirusiru ggwe! Oliyiga ddi ng’okukkiriza okutaliiko bikolwa tekuliiko kye kugasa?
21 consider, Was not our father Abraham justified by works, when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar?
Jjajjaffe Ibulayimu teyaweebwa obutuukirivu olw’ekikolwa kye yakola, bwe yawaayo omwana we lsaaka, afiire ku kyoto?
22 Thou seest that faith co-operated with his works, and that by his works his faith was perfected.
Mulaba nga Ibulayimu bwe yalina okukkiriza, era okukkiriza kwe ne kutuukirizibwa olw’ebikolwa bye,
23 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness; and he was called the friend of God.
n’ekyawandiikibwa ne kituukirizibwa ekigamba nti, “Ibulayimu yakkiriza Katonda, ne kimubalirwa okuba obutuukirivu, era n’ayitibwa mukwano gwa Katonda.”
24 Ye see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
Kaakano mutegedde ng’omuntu asiimibwa Katonda olw’ebyo by’akola, so si lwa kukkiriza kyokka.
25 And in like manner also was not the harlot Rahab justified by works, when she entertained the spies, and let them out another way?
Ekyokulabirako ekirala kye kya Lakabu, eyali malaaya. Teyaweebwa butuukirivu lwa kikolwa eky’okusembeza ababaka, n’oluvannyuma n’abasiibulira mu kkubo eddala nga baddayo, okubawonya?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Ng’omubiri bwe guba omufu omwoyo bwe gutagubeeramu, n’okukkiriza bwe kutyo kuba kufu bwe kuteeyolekera mu bikolwa.
