< Hebrews 12 >
1 Having therefore so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every incumbrance, and the sin that easily besets us, and run with patience the race that is set before us,
ⲁ̅ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ϭⲉ ⲉⲩⲛⲧⲁⲛ ϩⲱⲱⲛ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲙⲡⲉⲉⲓⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲙⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉ ⲉⲧⲕⲏ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉⲁⲛⲕⲱ ⲛⲥⲱⲛ ⲙⲙⲛⲧϫⲁⲥⲓϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲛⲟⲃⲉ ⲉⲧⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ⲉⲣⲟⲛ ⲙⲁⲣⲛⲡⲱⲧ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲟⲩϩⲩⲡⲟⲙⲟⲛⲏ ⲙⲡⲁⲅⲱⲛ ⲉⲧⲕⲏ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ
2 looking unto Jesus the leader and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
ⲃ̅ⲉⲛϭⲱϣⲧ ⲉⲡⲁⲣⲭⲏⲅⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲣⲉϥϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲙⲡⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲉⲧⲕⲏ ⲛⲁϥ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲁϥϩⲩⲡⲟⲙⲓⲛⲉ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲧⲁⲩⲣⲟⲥ ⲉⲁϥⲕⲁⲧⲁⲫⲣⲟⲛⲓ ⲙⲡϣⲓⲡⲉ ⲁϥϩⲙⲟⲟⲥ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲙ ⲙⲡⲉⲑⲣⲟⲛⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
3 Wherefore consider Him who endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, that ye may not give out, fainting in your minds:
ⲅ̅ϯϩⲧⲏⲧⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲧⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲉⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϩⲩⲡⲟⲙⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲁⲛⲧⲓⲗⲟⲅⲓⲁ ⲛⲧⲉⲓⲙⲓⲛⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓ ⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲛⲛⲣⲉϥⲣⲛⲟⲃⲉ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛϣⲡϩⲓⲥⲉ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲙⲯⲩⲭⲏ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲟⲥⲙ
4 for ye have not resisted unto blood in striving against sin.
ⲇ̅ⲉⲙⲡⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲱϩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲙⲡⲉⲥⲛⲟϥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲁⲅⲱⲛⲓⲍⲉ ⲟⲩⲃⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲃⲉ
5 Have ye forgotten the exhortation, which speaketh to you as to sons, saying, "My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, nor saint when rebuked by Him?
ⲉ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲣⲡⲱⲃϣ ⲙⲡⲥⲟⲡⲥ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲏⲧⲛ ϩⲱⲥ ϣⲏⲣⲉ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲣⲣⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲛϩⲏⲧ ⲉⲧⲉⲥⲃⲱ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲣϣⲱⲥⲙ ⲉⲩϫⲡⲓⲟ ⲙⲙⲟⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓ ⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ
6 for whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth."
ⲋ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϣⲁϥⲡⲁⲓⲇⲉⲩⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϣⲁϥⲙⲁⲥⲧⲓⲅⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧϥⲛⲁϣⲟⲡⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
7 If ye endure chastening, God treateth you as sons; for what son is there, whom the father doth not chastise?
ⲍ̅ϩⲩⲡⲟⲙⲓⲛⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲥⲃⲱ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϩⲱⲥ ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲙⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲉϥⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲡⲁⲓⲇⲉⲩⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ
8 But if ye be without chastisement, of which all are partakers, then are ye bastards and not sons.
ⲏ̅ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲁⲁⲧ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲥⲃⲱ ⲉⲛⲧⲁ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲙⲉⲧⲉⲭⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲉⲓⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩϫ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛ ϩⲉⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲁⲛ
9 Now if we had fathers of our flesh, who corrected us, and we gave them reverence; shall we not much more be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?
ⲑ̅ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲩⲛⲧⲁⲛ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲛⲉⲓⲟⲧⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲛⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⲛⲣⲉϥϯⲥⲃⲱ ⲉⲛϣⲓⲡⲉ ϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲛϩⲟⲩⲟ ϭⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲧⲛⲛⲁϩⲩⲡⲟⲧⲁⲥⲥⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲛⲛⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲛⲧⲛⲱⲛϩ
10 For they indeed corrected us for a while, as seemed good to them; but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness.
ⲓ̅ⲛⲁⲓ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲣⲟⲥϩⲉⲛⲕⲟⲩⲓ ⲛϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲩⲡⲁⲓⲇⲉⲩⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲉⲧⲉϩⲛⲁⲩ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲉⲩⲛⲟϥⲣⲉ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲛϫⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲟⲡ
11 Now no chastening seems for the present to be matter of joy but of grief: and yet afterwards it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those that are exercised thereby.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲥⲃⲱ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲣⲟⲥⲧⲉⲩⲛⲟⲩ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲣⲁϣⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲧⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲟⲩⲗⲩⲡⲏ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲱⲥ ⲇⲉ ϣⲁⲥϯ ⲛⲟⲩⲕⲁⲣⲡⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲓⲣⲏⲛⲓⲕⲟⲛ ⲛⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲅⲩⲙⲛⲁⲍⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓ ⲧⲟⲟⲧⲥ
12 Lift up therefore the hands that hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ϭⲉ ⲙⲁⲧⲁϩⲟ ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⲛⲛϭⲓϫ ⲉⲧⲃⲏⲗ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲛ ⲙⲡⲁⲧ ⲉⲧⲕⲏ
13 And make strait paths for your feet, that what is lame may not be turned out of the way, but rather be healed.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲁⲙⲓⲉ ϩⲉⲛϩⲓⲟⲟⲩⲉ ⲉⲩⲥⲟⲩⲧⲱⲛ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲧⲉ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲛⲛⲉ ⲡⲉⲧϫⲟⲩϩⲉ ⲡⲱϣⲥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉϥⲉⲗⲟ
14 Follow peace with all men; and holiness, without which none shall see the Lord:
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲡⲱⲧ ⲛⲥⲁ ϯⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲧⲃⲃⲟ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲁϫⲛⲧϥ ⲙⲛ ⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲁⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ
15 looking to it, least there be any one falling short of the grace of God, least any root of bitterness springing up should be troublesome, and by it many be defiled:
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϭⲱϣⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ⲙⲏⲡⲱⲥ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲁ ϣⲁⲁⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲏⲡⲱⲥ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩⲛⲉ ⲙⲡⲓⲕⲣⲓⲁ ⲉⲥⲣⲏⲧ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲭⲟⲗⲏ ⲛⲥⲉⲥⲱⲱϥ ⲛϭⲓ ⲟⲩⲙⲏⲏϣⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓ ⲧⲟⲟⲧⲥ
16 least there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one repast gave away his birthright.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲙⲏⲡⲱⲥ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲟⲣⲛⲟⲥ ⲏ ⲉϥⲥⲟⲟϥ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲏⲥⲁⲩ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲡⲙⲁ ⲛⲟⲩϭⲓⲛⲟⲩⲱⲙ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲁϥϯ ⲛⲉϥⲙⲛⲧϣⲣⲡⲙⲙⲓⲥⲉ
17 For ye know that, when he would afterwards have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no room for repentance, though he sought it earnestly even with tears.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ϫⲉ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲱⲥ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲛⲟⲙⲓ ⲙⲡⲉⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲧⲥⲧⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲡϥϩⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲙⲁ ⲙⲙⲉⲧⲁⲛⲟⲓⲁ ⲕⲁⲓⲡⲉⲣ ⲉⲁϥϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲥⲱⲥ ⲙⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲣⲙⲉⲓⲏ
18 Ye are not come to a tangible mountain, and burning fire, and a thick cloud, and darkness, and tempest,
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛϯ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲡⲉⲧⲟⲩϭⲟⲙϭⲙ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲉⲧϫⲉⲣⲟ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲁⲧⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩϭⲟⲥⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩⲕⲁⲕⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩϩⲁⲧⲏⲩ
19 and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words, which they that heard, intreated that the word might not any more be thus delivered to them:
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩϩⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲥⲁⲗⲡⲓⲅⲝ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲉⲥⲙⲏ ⲛⲛϣⲁϫⲉ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁ ⲛⲉⲧⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲓⲧⲉⲓ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲙⲟⲩⲉϩ ⲙⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲁⲩ
20 (for they could not bear the strict command, if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or shot through with a dart;
ⲕ̅ⲙⲡⲟⲩϥⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲉⲧϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲕⲁⲛ ⲉⲣϣⲁⲛⲟⲩⲑⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ϫⲱϩ ⲉⲡⲧⲟⲟⲩ ϣⲁⲩϩⲓⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ
21 and so terrible was the appearance that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and tremble: )
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ϩⲟⲩⲧⲱⲥ ⲛⲉⲩϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲟⲛϩ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲙⲱⲩⲥⲏⲥ ϫⲟⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ϯⲟ ⲛϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ϯⲥⲧⲱⲧ
22 but ye are come to mount Sion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels,
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛϯ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲟⲩⲟⲓ ⲉⲥⲓⲱⲛ ⲡⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲟⲛϩ ⲑⲓⲉⲣⲟⲥⲟⲗⲩⲙⲁ ⲛⲧⲡⲉ ⲙⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲧⲃⲁ ⲛⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ
23 to the general assembly and church of the first-born who are written in heaven, and to God the judge of all, and to the spirits of the just made perfect,
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲡϣⲁ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲉⲕⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⲛⲛϣⲣⲡⲙⲙⲓⲥⲉ ⲉⲧⲥⲏϩ ϩⲛ ⲙⲡⲏⲩⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲕⲣⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲡⲛⲁ ⲛⲛⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥ ⲉⲧϫⲏⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ
24 and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than Abel.
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲡⲙⲉⲥⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲛⲧⲇⲓⲁⲑⲏⲕⲏ ⲛⲃⲣⲣⲉ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲉⲥⲛⲟϥ ⲙⲡϭⲟϣϭϣ ⲉϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲉ ⲡⲁ ⲁⲃⲉⲗ
25 See that ye reject not Him that speaketh; for if they escaped not, who rejected him that gave forth divine oracles on earth, much less shall we, if we turn away from Him that speaketh from heaven:
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ϭⲱϣⲧ ϭⲉ ⲙⲡⲣⲡⲁⲣⲁⲓⲧⲓ ⲙⲡⲉⲧϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲏⲧⲛ ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲛⲏ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲣⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲡⲉⲧϩⲓϫⲙ ⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲟⲩⲡⲁⲣⲁⲓⲧⲉⲓ ⲙⲡⲉⲧϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲡⲟⲗⲩ ⲙⲁⲗⲗⲟⲛ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲕⲧⲟ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲡⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲙⲡⲏⲩⲉ
26 whose voice then shook the earth; but now He hath promised, saying, "Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also the heaven."
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲁϥⲕⲓⲙ ⲉⲡⲕⲁϩ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲙⲏ ⲙⲡⲓⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲉⲣⲏⲧ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲓ ⲕⲉⲥⲟⲡ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ϯⲛⲁⲕⲓⲙ ⲟⲩ ⲙⲟⲛⲟⲛ ⲉⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲧⲕⲉⲡⲉ
27 Now this expression "yet once more" signifieth the removing of the things that are shaken, as of things which had been appointed only for a season, that those which cannot be shaken may remain.
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲓ ⲕⲉⲥⲟⲡ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲡⲡⲱⲛⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲕⲓⲙ ϩⲱⲥ ⲉⲁⲩⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲩⲉϭⲱ ⲛϭⲓ ⲛⲉⲧⲉ ⲛⲥⲉⲕⲓⲙ ⲁⲛ
28 Wherefore since we receive a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us have grace whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and holy fear:
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲁⲛϫⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ ⲉⲥⲧⲁϫⲣⲏⲩ ⲙⲁⲣⲛϣⲡϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧⲥ ⲛⲧⲛϣⲙϣⲉ ⲉⲛⲣⲁⲛⲁϥ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩϩⲟⲧⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲧⲱⲧ
29 for our God is a consuming fire.
