< Ephesians 6 >

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and thy mother, (which is the first commandment with promise, )
“Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—
3 that it may be well with thee, and thou shalt be long-lived upon the earth.
“that it may go well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
4 And ye fathers, do not exasperate your children: but educate them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
And fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of Sovereign.
5 Servants, obey them that are your masters according to the flesh, with reverential fear, in the simplicity of your heart, as unto Christ:
Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ;
6 not with eye-service as men-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
not only when being watched, to please men, but as slaves of the Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
7 with good-will, as serving the Lord rather than men:
serving with a good attitude, as to the Lord and not to men,
8 knowing that whatever good any one doth, he shall receive the reward of it from the Lord, whether He be a slave or free.
knowing that whatever good each one does, he will receive the same again from the Lord, whether he is slave or free.
9 And ye masters, do the same to them, forbearing threatening: knowing that ye yourselves also have a Master in heaven, and there is no respect of persons with Him.
And masters, be the same way towards them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.
10 Moreover, my brethren, strengthen yourselves in the Lord, and in his mighty power.
Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil.
Put on the full armor of God so as to be able to stand firm against the stratagems of the devil.
12 For our conflict is not with flesh and blood only, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the world and of the darkness of this age, against wicked spirits in heavenly places. (aiōn g165)
Because, our wrestling match is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the authorities, against the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, against the malignant spirits in the heavenly realms. (aiōn g165)
13 Take therefore the complete armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.
That is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, to stand firm, with everything in place.
14 Stand therefore having your loins girt about with truth, and putting on the breast-plate of righteousness:
So stand firm, having belted your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace:
and having shod your feet with the readiness of the Gospel of the peace;
16 over all taking the shield of faith, whereby ye will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one:
above all, having taken up the shield of the faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the malignant one;
17 take also the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
also, grasp the helmet of the salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is God's Word spoken;
18 praying at all seasons with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance, and intercession for all the saints;
praying at all times in the Spirit, using every prayer and petition, yes being watchful to this end with all perseverance and petition for all the saints
19 and for me particularly, that utterance may be given me, that I may open my mouth with freedom, to make known the mystery of the gospel:
—on my behalf too, that when I open my mouth utterance may be given to me with boldness, to make known the mystery of the Gospel,
20 for which I am an ambassador though in chains: that I may speak boldly in behalf of it, as I ought to speak.
for which I am an ambassador in chains; that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to do.
21 But that ye also may know my affairs, and what I am doing here, Tychicus a beloved brother, and a faithful minister in the Lord, shall make all known to you: whom I have sent to you,
Now that you also may know my affairs, how I am doing, Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything;
22 for this very end, that ye might know our concerns, and that he may comfort your hearts.
whom I have sent to you for this very purpose: that you may know our circumstances and that he may comfort your hearts.
23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and Sovereign Jesus Christ.
24 Grace be with all that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
The grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love. Amen.
