< Acts 11 >
1 Now the apostles and brethren that were in Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.
Na rĩrĩ, atũmwo, na ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ arĩa maarĩ Judea guothe makĩigua atĩ andũ-a-Ndũrĩrĩ o nao nĩmarĩkĩtie kwamũkĩra kiugo kĩa Ngai.
2 And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, those that were of the circumcision contended with him, saying,
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio rĩrĩa Petero aambatire agĩthiĩ Jerusalemu, andũ arĩa meetĩkĩtie a thiritũ ya arĩa maruaga makĩmũrũithia
3 Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised and didst eat with them.
4 But Peter began and laid the matter in order before them,
Nowe Petero akĩambĩrĩria kũmataarĩria maũndũ mothe wega o ta ũrĩa meekĩkĩte, akĩmeera atĩrĩ:
5 saying, I was praying in the city of Joppa; and in a trance I saw a vision, some thing like a large sheet descending from heaven, let down by the four corners; and it came close to me.
“Ndaarĩ itũũra-inĩ rĩa Jopa ngĩhooya Ngai, na rĩrĩa ndaagoocereire-rĩ, ngĩona kĩoneki. Ngĩona kĩndũ gĩatariĩ ta gĩtama kĩnene gĩkĩharũrũkio kuuma igũrũ na mĩthia yakĩo ĩna, na gĩgĩikũrũka o harĩa ndaarĩ.
6 And looking stedfastly upon it, I observed four-footed creatures and wild beasts, and reptiles, and fowls of the air.
Ndaacũthĩrĩria thĩinĩ wakĩo ngĩona nyamũ cia thĩ iria irĩ magũrũ mana, na nyamũ cia gĩthaka, na nyamũ iria itambaga thĩ na nyoni cia rĩera-inĩ.
7 And I heard a voice saying to me, Rise, Peter, kill and eat.
Ngĩcooka ngĩigua mũgambo ũkĩnjĩĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Petero, ũkĩra. Thĩnja, na ũrĩe!’
8 But I said, By no means, Lord: for nothing polluted or unclean hath ever entered into my mouth.
“Na niĩ ngĩcookia atĩrĩ, ‘Aca, Mwathani! Gũtirĩ kĩndũ gĩtarĩ kĩamũre kana kĩrĩ thaahu kĩrĩ gĩatoonya kanua gakwa.’
9 And the voice answered me a second time from heaven, What God hath cleansed do not thou call polluted.
“Naguo mũgambo ũcio ũkĩaria riita rĩa keerĩ kuuma igũrũ ũkĩnjĩĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Ndũkanoige kĩndũ o na kĩrĩkũ kĩrĩa Ngai atheretie atĩ ti kĩamũre.’
10 And this was done thrice: and then they were all drawn up again to heaven.
Ũndũ ũyũ wekĩkire maita matatũ, nakĩo gĩtama kĩu gĩkĩguucio na igũrũ.
11 And behold at that very time there came three men to the house where I was, sent from Cesarea to me.
“O hĩndĩ ĩyo andũ atatũ arĩa maatũmĩtwo kũrĩ niĩ kuuma Kaisarea magĩkinya nyũmba-inĩ ĩrĩa ndaikaraga.
12 And the Spirit ordered me to go with them, doubting nothing. And these six brethren also came with me, and we entred into the man's house;
Nake Roho akĩnjĩĩra thiĩ nao na ndikagĩe na ngaanja. Nao ariũ a Ithe witũ aya atandatũ tũgĩthiĩ nao na tũgĩtoonya nyũmba ya mũndũ ũcio.
13 and he told us how he had seen an angel in his house, standing and saying to him, Send men to Joppa, and fetch hither Simon,
Nake agĩtwĩra ũrĩa oimĩrĩirwo nĩ mũraika arĩ gwake nyũmba, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Tũmana Jopa wĩtĩrwo Simoni ũrĩa wĩtagwo Petero.
14 whose sirname is Peter, who will tell thee things, by which thou shalt be saved and all thy family.
Nĩegũkũrehera ndũmĩrĩri ĩrĩa ĩgũtũma wee na nyũmba yaku yothe mũhonoke.’
15 And when I began to speak, the holy Spirit fell on them, even as it did upon us at the beginning.
“Na rĩrĩa ndaambĩrĩirie kwaria-rĩ, Roho Mũtheru akĩmaikũrũkĩra o ta ũrĩa aatũikũrũkĩire hĩndĩ ya mbere.
16 Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the holy Spirit.
Hĩndĩ ĩyo ngĩririkana ũrĩa Mwathani oigĩte atĩrĩ, ‘Johana aabatithanagia na maaĩ, no inyuĩ mũkaabatithio na Roho Mũtheru.’
17 As therefore God gave to them the like gift that He did to us, upon our believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I, that I should be able to withstand God?
Angĩkorwo Ngai nĩamaheire kĩheo o kĩrĩa aatũheire ithuĩ andũ arĩa twetĩkirie Mwathani Jesũ Kristũ-rĩ, niĩ ndaarĩ ũũ nĩguo ndĩciirie atĩ no ngararie Ngai?”
18 And when they heard these things they acquiesced, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God given to the Gentiles also repentance unto life.
Rĩrĩa maaiguire ũguo, magĩtiga ngarari na makĩgooca Ngai, makiuga atĩrĩ, “Gwakorwo nĩ ũguo-rĩ, Ngai nĩakinyĩirie andũ-a-Ndũrĩrĩ o nao ũhoro wa kwĩrira nĩguo magĩe na muoyo.”
19 Now they that were dispersed by the trouble, which arose about Stephen, travelled as far as Phenicia, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but the Jews only.
20 But some of them were Cyprians, and Cyrenians, who when they came to Antioch, discoursed with the Grecians also, preaching the Lord Jesus.
21 And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
22 And the report of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem; and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.
Nayo ngumo ya maũndũ macio igĩkinyĩra andũ a kanitha ũrĩa warĩ kũu Jerusalemu; nao magĩtũma Baranaba athiĩ Antiokia.
23 Who, when he was come, and saw the grace of God, rejoiced, and exhorted them all with steadiness of heart to adhere to the Lord.
24 For he was a good man, and full of the holy Spirit, and of faith: and many were added unto the Lord.
Baranaba aarĩ mũndũ mwega waiyũrĩtwo nĩ Roho Mũtheru na warĩ na wĩtĩkio, nao andũ aingĩ magĩĩtĩkia Mwathani.
25 Then Barnabas departed to Tarsus, to seek Saul: and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch.
Nake Baranaba agĩthiĩ Tariso gũcaria Saũlũ,
26 And they assembled in the church a whole year, and taught much people: and the disciples were first called Christians at Antioch.
27 And in these days came down prophets from Jerusalem to Antioch.
Ihinda-inĩ rĩu anabii amwe magĩikũrũka kuuma Jerusalemu nginya Antiokia.
28 And one of them, named Agabus, stood up and signified by the Spirit, that there would be a great famine over all the earth: which accordingly came to pass in the reign of Claudius Cesar.
29 And each of the disciples, according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren who dwelt in Judea.
Nao arutwo, magĩĩciiria kũheana ũteithio nĩ ũndũ wa ariũ a Ithe witũ arĩa maatũũraga kũu Judea, o ta ũrĩa mũndũ aahotithĩtio.
30 Which they also did, sending it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.
Nĩmekire ũndũ ũcio, makĩnengera Baranaba na Saũlũ iheo ciao matwarĩre athuuri a kanitha.
