< 2 Timothy 2 >

1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace which is in Christ Jesus:
You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Meshikha Yeshua.
2 and the things which thou hast heard from me, before many witnesses, these commit to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
The things which you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same to faithful people, who will be able to teach others also.
3 Do thou therefore endure hardship, as becomes a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
You therefore must share in hardship, as a good soldier of Meshikha Yeshua.
4 No one, that enters into military service, embarrasseth himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him.
No soldier on duty entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.
5 And if any one contend in the public games, he gains not the crown unless he contend fairly.
Also, if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he has competed by the rules.
6 The husbandman must labour first, in order to partake of the fruits.
The farmers who labor must be the first to get a share of the crops.
7 Consider what I say, and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in all things.
8 Remember Jesus Christ of the seed of David, who was raised from the dead, according to my gospel:
Remember Yeshua Meshikha, risen from the dead, a descendant of Dawid, according to my Good News,
9 for whose sake I suffer trouble even unto bonds, as if I were a malefactor; but the word of God is not bound.
in which I suffer hardship to the point of chains as a criminal. But God's word is not chained.
10 Therefore I submit to every thing for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is by Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. (aiōnios g166)
Therefore I endure all things for the chosen ones' sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Meshikha Yeshua with everlasting glory. (aiōnios g166)
11 It is an undoubted truth, if we are dead with Him, we shall also live with Him:
This saying is faithful: "For if we died with him, we will also live with him.
12 if we suffer, we shall also reign with Him: if we disown Him, He will also disown us.
If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he also will deny us.
13 If we are unfaithful, He continueth faithful notwithstanding; He cannot renounce Himself.
If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself."
14 These things remind them of, charging them before the Lord not to contend about words, which is profitable for nothing, and tends to the subversion of the hearers.
Remind them of these things, charging them in the presence of God, not to wrangle about words, to no profit, to the subverting of those who hear.
15 Endeavour to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Do your best to present yourself approved by God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, properly handling the word of truth.
16 But avoid prophane empty harangues; for they will proceed to more impiety,
But shun empty chatter, for they will proceed further in ungodliness,
17 and their discourse will eat like a gangrene. Of whom is Hymeneus and Philetus; who have erred from the truth,
and their word will consume like gangrene, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18 saying that the resurrection is already past; and subvert the faith of some.
who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past, and overthrowing the faith of some.
19 However, the foundation of God standeth firm, having this inscription, The Lord knoweth them that are his; and, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
However God's firm foundation stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness."
20 In a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, some for meaner uses.
Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honor, and some for dishonor.
21 If therefore any one purify himself from these corruptions, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified and fitted for the Master's use, being prepared for every good work.
If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master's use, prepared for every good work.
22 Flee youthful passions: and follow righteousness, fidelity, love, and peace, with all those that call upon the Lord out of a pure heart:
Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 but foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they produce quarrels; for the servant of the Lord ought not to wrangle,
But refuse foolish and ignorant questionings, knowing that they generate strife.
24 but to be gentle towards all men, ready to teach, patient under injuries,
The Lord's servant must not quarrel, but be gentle towards all, able to teach, patient,
25 with meekness instructing those of different sentiments, not knowing but God may give them repentance to the acknowledgement of the truth;
in gentleness correcting those who oppose him: perhaps God may give them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth,
26 and they may awake out of the snare of the devil, who have been captivated by him to his will.
and they may recover themselves out of the devil's snare, having been taken captive by him to his will.
