2 Thessalonians 3
1 As for the rest, my brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run, and be glorified, as it is among you:
最後に、兄弟たちよ。わたしたちのために祈ってほしい。どうか主の言葉が、あなたがたの所と同じように、ここでも早く広まり、また、あがめられるように。
2 and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for all have not faith.
また、どうか、わたしたちが不都合な悪人から救われるように。事実、すべての人が信仰を持っているわけではない。
3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you, and preserve you from the evil one.
しかし、主は真実なかたであるから、あなたがたを強め、悪しき者から守って下さるであろう。
4 And we trust in the Lord concerning you, that ye both do and will do the things which we give you in charge.
わたしたちが命じる事を、あなたがたは現に実行しており、また、実行するであろうと、わたしたちは、主にあって確信している。
5 And may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ.
どうか、主があなたがたの心を導いて、神の愛とキリストの忍耐とを持たせて下さるように。
6 Now we charge you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw yourselves from every brother who walketh disorderly, and not according to the instruction which he received from us.
兄弟たちよ。主イエス・キリストの名によってあなたがたに命じる。怠惰な生活をして、わたしたちから受けた言伝えに従わないすべての兄弟たちから、遠ざかりなさい。
7 For ye know how ye ought to imitate us: for we were not disorderly among you;
わたしたちに、どうならうべきであるかは、あなたがた自身が知っているはずである。あなたがたの所にいた時には、わたしたちは怠惰な生活をしなかったし、
8 neither did we eat any one's bread for nothing; but with labor and toil, working night and day, that we might not be burthensome to any of you.
人からパンをもらって食べることもしなかった。それどころか、あなたがたのだれにも負担をかけまいと、日夜、労苦し努力して働き続けた。
9 Not that we have not power, but that we might give ourselves as an example to you to imitate us.
それは、わたしたちにその権利がないからではなく、ただわたしたちにあなたがたが見習うように、身をもって模範を示したのである。
10 For when we were with you, we gave you this charge, if any will not work, neither let him eat.
また、あなたがたの所にいた時に、「働こうとしない者は、食べることもしてはならない」と命じておいた。
11 For we hear that there are some among you that walk disorderly, doing no work themselves, but very busy in the affairs of others.
ところが、聞くところによると、あなたがたのうちのある者は怠惰な生活を送り、働かないで、ただいたずらに動きまわっているとのことである。
12 Such we charge and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that they work quietly and earn their own bread.
こうした人々に対しては、静かに働いて自分で得たパンを食べるように、主イエス・キリストによって命じまた勧める。
13 But be not you, my brethren, discouraged from well-doing. And if any obey not our order,
兄弟たちよ。あなたがたは、たゆまずに良い働きをしなさい。
14 by this epistle, mark such a one, and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed.
もしこの手紙にしるしたわたしたちの言葉に聞き従わない人があれば、そのような人には注意をして、交際しないがよい。彼が自ら恥じるようになるためである。
15 However do not look upon him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
しかし、彼を敵のように思わないで、兄弟として訓戒しなさい。
16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in all places. The Lord be with you all.
どうか、平和の主ご自身が、いついかなる場合にも、あなたがたに平和を与えて下さるように。主があなたがた一同と共におられるように。
17 The salutation of me Paul by my own hand, which is the token in every epistle; for so I write,
ここでパウロ自身が、手ずからあいさつを書く。これは、わたしのどの手紙にも書く印である。わたしは、このように書く。
18 "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all." Amen.
どうか、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの恵みが、あなたがた一同と共にあるように。
