< 2 Peter 1 >
1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us, in the righteousness of our God, and of our saviour Jesus Christ:
ⲁ̅ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⲡϩⲙϩⲁⲗ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⲛⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲉϥⲥϩⲁⲓ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩ ϫⲓ ⲛⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲓⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲛⲧⲉⲛϩⲉ ϩⲛ ⲧⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲙⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲡⲉⲛⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ
2 grace and peace be multiplied unto you, in the acknowledgement of God, and of Jesus our Lord;
ⲃ̅ⲧⲉⲭⲁⲣⲓⲥ ⲙⲛ ϯⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲉⲥⲉⲁϣⲁⲓ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ
3 as his divine power hath given us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who hath called us by that glory and virtue,
ⲅ̅ϩⲱⲥ ⲉⲁϥⲭⲁⲣⲓⲍⲉ ⲛⲁⲛ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲧⲉϥϭⲟⲙ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲛϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉϫⲓ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲱⲛϩ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉϥϣⲙϣⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉϥⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲉϥⲁⲣⲉⲧⲏ
4 by which are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises; that by these ye may become partakers of a divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
ⲇ̅ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲭⲁⲣⲓⲍⲉ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲉⲉⲣⲏⲧ ⲉⲧⲁⲉⲓⲏⲩ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲛⲕⲟⲓⲛⲟⲛⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲫⲓⲥⲓⲥ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲉⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲱⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲧⲉⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲓⲁ ⲙⲡⲧⲁⲕⲟ ⲉⲧϩⲙ ⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ
5 And to this giving all diligence, add to your faith fortitude;
ⲉ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ϩⲙ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲟⲛ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲥⲡⲟⲩⲇⲏ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲭⲱⲣⲏⲅⲉⲓ ⲛⲧⲁⲣⲉⲧⲏ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲧⲁⲣⲓⲧⲏ
6 and to fortitude knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience piety;
ⲋ̅ⲧⲉⲛⲅⲣⲁⲧⲓⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲙ ⲡⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲑⲩⲡⲟⲙⲟⲛⲏ ⲇⲉ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲧⲉⲅⲣⲁⲧⲓⲁ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉϥϣⲙϣⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲇⲉ ϩⲛ ⲑⲩⲡⲟⲙⲟⲛⲏ
7 and to piety brotherly affection; and to brotherly affection charity.
ⲍ̅ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲙⲁⲓ ⲥⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ϩⲛ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉϥϣⲉⲙϣⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲧⲁⲅⲁⲡⲏ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲙⲁⲓ ⲥⲟⲛ
8 For if these be in you and abound, they will not suffer you to be idle, nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
ⲏ̅ⲛⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲩϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲩⲣ ϩⲟⲩⲟ ⲛⲛⲉⲩⲛⲁϫⲓ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲁϫⲛ ϩⲱⲃ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲁϫⲉⲛ ⲕⲁⲣⲡⲟⲥ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲡⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ
9 But he, that hath not these, is blind, or short-sighted, having forgot his baptismal purification from his former sins.
ⲑ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲉ ⲛⲛⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛⲁϥ ⲁⲛ ⲟⲩⲃⲗⲗⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲛϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲛⲉⲁϥϫⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲉϥϣⲉ ⲙⲡⲧⲃⲃⲟ ⲛⲛⲉϥϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲛⲛⲟⲃⲉ
10 Wherefore, my brethren, be the more diligent thus to make your calling and election sure; for if ye do these things ye shall never fall.
ⲓ̅ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛϩⲟⲩⲟ ⲛⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲥⲡⲟⲩⲇⲁⲍⲉ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲡⲟ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ⲉⲥⲧⲁϫⲣⲏⲩ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲧⲱϩⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲛⲧⲥⲱⲡⲧ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲛⲁϩⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲛⲉϩ
11 For so an entrance shall be administered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (aiōnios )
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲧⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲑⲉ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁϯ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϩⲉ ⲟⲩⲙⲛⲧⲣⲙⲙⲁⲟ ⲛⲧⲉϩⲓⲏ ⲛⲃⲱⲕ ⲉϩⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲣⲟ ⲛϣⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲙⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲡⲉⲛⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ (aiōnios )
12 Wherefore I will not neglect to put you always in mind of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the present truth.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ϯⲛⲁϥⲉⲓ ⲣⲟⲟⲩϣ ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲣ ⲡⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲕⲁⲓⲡⲉⲣ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲁϫⲣⲏⲩ ϩⲛ ⲧⲙⲉ ⲉⲧϣⲟⲟⲡ
13 And I think it my duty, while I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by way of remembrance:
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ϯϫⲱ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲛ ⲉⲫⲟⲥⲟⲛ ⲉⲓϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲓⲙⲁ ⲛϣⲱⲱⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲉⲥ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲣ ⲡⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ
14 knowing that I must soon lay down this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲉⲓⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ϫⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲕⲱ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲙⲡⲁⲥⲱⲙⲁ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩϭⲉⲡⲏ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲁⲙⲟⲓ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ
15 And I will endeavour that after my departure also ye may always be able to call these things to remembrance.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ϯⲛⲁⲥⲡⲟⲩⲇⲁⲍⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲁ ⲉⲧⲣⲁⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲧⲛⲕⲱ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲙⲡⲣⲡ ⲡⲙⲉⲉⲩⲉ ⲛⲛⲁⲓ
16 For we did not follow artfully devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; but were eye-witnesses of his majesty.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲛⲧⲁⲛⲛⲟⲩⲁϩⲉⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲥⲁ ϩⲉⲛϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉⲁⲩⲧⲃⲧⲱⲃⲟⲩ ⲁⲛⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲧϭⲟⲙ ⲙⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲧⲉϥⲡⲁⲣϩⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲁⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲙⲛⲧⲛⲟϭ ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲙⲙⲁⲩ
17 For He received from God the Father honor and glory when a voice came to Him from the magnificent glory, saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲉⲁϥϫⲓ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲛⲟⲩⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲁⲩⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲥⲙⲏ ⲛⲧⲉⲓⲙⲉⲓⲛⲉ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲉⲟⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲡⲁⲙⲉⲣⲓⲧ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲛⲧⲁⲡⲁⲟⲩⲱϣ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ
18 And this voice, from heaven we heard, when we were with Him in the holy mount.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲁⲛⲥⲱⲧⲙ ⲉⲧⲉⲓⲥⲙⲏ ⲛⲧⲁⲥⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲡⲉ ⲉⲛϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲛⲙⲙⲁϥ ϩⲙ ⲡⲧⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ
19 We have also the more sure word of the prophets, to which ye do well to attend, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, till the day dawn, and the morning-star rise in your hearts:
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲟⲩⲛⲧⲁⲛ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲙⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲉⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉϥⲧⲁϫⲣⲏⲩ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲕⲁⲗⲱⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϯ ϩⲧⲏⲧⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲛⲟⲩϩⲏⲃⲥ ⲉϥⲙⲟⲩϩ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲁ ⲛⲕⲁⲕⲉ ϣⲁⲛⲧⲉⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲣ ⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲡⲥⲟⲩ ⲛϩⲧⲟⲟⲩⲉ ϣⲁ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ
20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation;
ⲕ̅ⲡⲁⲓ ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓⲙⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲓⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ⲙⲉⲣⲉⲡⲉⲥⲃⲱⲗ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲁⲣⲟⲥ ⲙⲁⲩⲁⲁⲥ
21 for prophecy was not delivered of old at the will of man, but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the holy Spirit.
