1 Timothy 5
1 Do not chide a senior, but exhort him as a father; and younger men as brethren:
முதியவர்களை கடுமையாகக் கண்டிக்காதே, அவரை உன் தந்தையைப்போல் மதித்து, அறிவுரை கூறு. இளைஞரை உனது சகோதரர்களைப் போலவும்,
2 the elder women as mothers, the younger as sisters, with all purity.
பெண்களில் முதியவர்களைத் தாய்களைப் போலவும், இளம்பெண்களைச் சகோதரிகளைப்போலவும் எண்ணி, முழுமையான தூய்மையோடு அவர்களிடம் நடந்துகொள்.
3 Honour widows who are widows indeed.
உண்மையாகவே தேவையுள்ள விதவைகளுக்கு ஏற்ற ஆதரவைக்கொடு.
4 But if any widow have children or grandchildren, let these learn first to shew piety at home, and to make suitable returns to their parents: for this is becoming, and acceptable in the sight of God.
ஆனால் ஒரு விதவைக்குப் பிள்ளைகளோ, பேரப்பிள்ளைகளோ இருந்தால், முதலாவது அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய சொந்தக் குடும்பத்தைப் பராமரிப்பதின் மூலம், இறை பக்தியை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தக் கற்றுக்கொள்ளட்டும்; இப்படித் தங்கள் பெற்றோருக்கும், பெற்றோரின் பெற்றோருக்கும் செய்யவேண்டிய கடமைகளைச் செய்யட்டும். ஏனெனில், இதுவே இறைவனுக்குப் பிரியமாயிருக்கிறது.
5 Now she, that is really a widow and desolate, hopeth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.
ஒரு விதவை உண்மையாகவே தேவையுடையவளாக இருந்து, கைவிடப்பட்டுத் தனிமையாக இருந்தால், அவள் தனது எதிர்பார்ப்பை இறைவனிலேயே வைத்திருக்கிறாள். அவள் இரவும் பகலும் இறைவனிடம் மன்றாடுவதிலும், உதவி கேட்பதிலும் நிலைத்திருப்பாள்.
6 But she that indulgeth to luxury, is dead while she liveth.
ஆனால் ஒரு விதவை உலக இன்பத்தில் வாழ்வதை விரும்பினால், அவள் வாழ்ந்தாலும் நடைபிணமே.
7 These things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
ஒருவர் மேலும் குற்றஞ்சாட்டப்படாதபடி, இந்த அறிவுறுத்தலையும் எல்லா மக்களுக்கும் கொடு.
8 But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own family, he hath renounced the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
யாராவது தனது உறவினர்களுக்கு, குறிப்பாக தன் சொந்த குடும்பத்தில் உள்ளவர்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்யாவிட்டால், அவன் தனது விசுவாசத்தையே மறுதலிக்கிறான். அவன் விசுவாசம் இல்லாதவனைவிடக் கேவலமானவன்.
9 Let not a widow be chosen into the number under sixty years old,
ஒரு விதவை அறுபது வயதிற்கு மேற்பட்டவளாயும், ஒரே கணவனுக்கு உண்மையுள்ள மனைவியாகவும் இருந்திருந்தால் மட்டுமே, அவளை விதவைகளின் பட்டியலில் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளலாம்.
10 having been the wife of one man: in repute for good actions, if she have educated children, if she have entertained strangers, if she have washed the feet of saints, if she have relieved the afflicted, and diligently followed every good work.
அத்துடன் அவள் தனது நல்ல செயல்களினால், அதாவது தன் பிள்ளைகளை வளர்த்தெடுத்தல், உபசரிக்கும் பண்பு, பரிசுத்தவான்களின் பாதங்களைக் கழுவுதல், கஷ்டத்தில் இருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு உதவி செய்தல் போன்ற எல்லா விதமான நல்ல செயல்களிலும் தன்னை ஈடுபடுத்தியவளாக, மற்றவர்களால் நற்சாட்சி பெற்றிருக்கவேண்டும்.
11 But the younger widows refuse: for when they grow wanton against Christ, they will needs marry:
இந்தப் பட்டியலில் இளம் விதவைகளைச் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளாதே. ஏனெனில் அவர்களுடைய உடல் இச்சைகள், அவர்களை கிறிஸ்துவின் அர்ப்பணிப்பிலிருந்து பிரிக்கும்போது, அவர்கள் திருமணம் செய்துகொள்ள விரும்புவார்கள்.
12 and are therefore to be condemned, because they violate their first faith.
இப்படி அவர்கள் முதலில் செய்த வாக்குறுதியை மீறுவதனால், அவர்கள் தங்களுக்கே நியாயத்தீர்ப்பைக் கொண்டுவருவார்கள்.
13 And withal being idle they learn to go about from house to house: and are not only idle, but tatlers also and busy-bodies, talking of things unbecoming them.
அதுத்தவிர அவர்கள் சோம்பல்தனமுள்ளவர்களாகி, வீட்டுக்கு வீடு போகப் பழகிக்கொள்வார்கள். அவர்கள் சோம்பேறிகளாக மட்டுமல்ல, பிறர் காரியங்களில் தலையிடுகிறவர்களாகவும், தேவையற்ற காரியங்களில் தலையிடுகிறவர்களாகவும் இருந்து, வீணான காரியங்களைப் பேசித்திரிவார்கள்.
14 I would therefore have the younger widows marry, bear children, manage houshold affairs, and give no occasion to the adversary for reproach.
எனவே இளம் விதவைகள் திருமணம் செய்து, பிள்ளைகளைப் பெற்று, தங்களுடைய குடும்பத்தை நடத்தவேண்டும் என்பதே நான் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கும் ஆலோசனை. அப்பொழுது இதன் நிமித்தம் பகைவன் அவதூறு பேசுவதற்கு இடமில்லாமல் போகும்.
15 For some are already turned aside after Satan.
ஏனெனில் சிலர் ஏற்கெனவே வழிதவறி சாத்தானின் பின்னே போய்விட்டார்கள்.
16 And if any believer have relations widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be burdened; that it may relieve those that are indeed widows and desolate.
ஒரு விசுவாச பெண்ணின் குடும்பத்தில் விதவைகள் இருந்தால், அந்த விசுவாசியே அவர்களைப் பராமரிக்க வேண்டும். திருச்சபையின்மேல் இந்தப் பாரத்தைச் சுமத்தக் கூடாது. அப்பொழுதுதான், உண்மையாகவே தேவையுள்ள விதவைகளுக்கு திருச்சபை உதவிசெய்ய முடியும்.
17 Let the elders, who preside well, be counted worthy of double honor, especially those that labour in preaching and teaching.
திருச்சபையை நன்றாய் நடத்தும் தலைவர்கள் இரட்டிப்பான மதிப்பிற்குரியவர்களாகக் கருதப்பட வேண்டும். விசேஷமாக பிரசங்கம் பண்ணுவதிலும், போதிப்பதிலும் ஈடுபடும் தலைவர்களை பாத்திரராக எண்ணவேண்டும்.
18 For the scripture saith, "Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn:" and, "The workman is worthy of his hire."
ஏனெனில், “தானியக்கதிரை போரடிக்கும் எருதின் வாயைக் கட்டவேண்டாம்” என்றும் “வேலையாள் தன் கூலிக்குப் பாத்திரவானாயிருக்கிறான்” என்றும், வேதவசனம் சொல்லுகிறதே.
19 Receive not an accusation against an elder, unless from two or three witnesses.
ஒரு சபைத்தலைவனுக்கு எதிரான குற்றச்சாட்டு, இரண்டு அல்லது மூன்று பேருடைய சாட்சியங்களுடன் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டாலன்றி, அதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாதே.
20 Those that offend reprove before all, that others also may fear.
பாவம் செய்கிற சபைத்தலைவர்களை எல்லோர் முன்னிலையிலும் கடிந்துகொள். அப்பொழுது மற்றவர்களுக்கு அது ஒரு எச்சரிக்கையாயிருக்கும்.
21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou keep to these things without preference of persons, doing nothing with partiality.
இறைவனின் முன்னிலையிலும், கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவின் முன்னிலையிலும், தெரிந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட இறைத்தூதர்களின் முன்னிலையிலும் நான் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுவதாவது: பட்சபாதமாக எதையும் செய்யாமல், நடுநிலையினின்று, இந்த அறிவுறுத்தல்களைக் கைக்கொள்.
22 Lay hands on no man precipitately, and be not hereby a partaker in the sins of others. Keep thyself pure.
ஊழியத்தில் அமர்த்துவதற்கு அவசரப்பட்டு ஒருவன்மேலும் கைகளை வைக்காதே. மற்றவர்களுடைய பாவங்களில் பங்குகொள்ளாதே. உன்னைத் தூய்மையுள்ளவனாய் காத்துக்கொள்.
23 Drink no longer water only, but use a little wine with it, for the sake of thy stomach and thy frequent infirmities.
நீ தொடர்ந்து தண்ணீர் மட்டும் குடிப்பதைவிட்டு, உனது வயிற்றின் நலனுக்காகவும், அடிக்கடி உனக்கு வருகிற வருத்தத்திற்காகவும், திராட்சைரசத்தையும் கொஞ்சம் குடி.
24 The sins of some men are notorious, leading as it were to their condemnation; and some more artful they follow after.
சிலரின் பாவங்கள் வெளிப்படையானதாய் இருப்பதால், நியாயத்தீர்ப்பிற்கு, அவர்கள் போகுமுன்பே அவை போய் சேருகின்றன; மற்றவர்களுடைய பாவங்களோ அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னால் வந்து சேருகின்றன.
25 So also the good works of some are manifest; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.
அதுபோலவே, நல்ல செயல்களும் வெளிப்படையாய் இருக்கின்றன. அப்படி வெளிப்படாதவையும் தொடர்ந்து மறைந்திருப்பதில்லை.
