< 1 Corinthians 1 >
1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, to the church of God which is in Corinth,
ⲁ̅ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲡⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲧⲁϩⲙ ⲙⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲥⲱⲥⲑⲉⲛⲏⲥ ⲡⲥⲟⲛ
2 even to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, and called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is both their Lord and ours;
ⲃ̅ⲉⲩⲥϩⲁⲓ ⲛⲧⲉⲕⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲉⲧϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲛ ⲕⲟⲣⲓⲛⲑⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲧⲧⲃⲃⲏⲩ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲛⲉⲧⲧⲁϩⲙ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲉⲡⲓⲕⲁⲗⲉⲓ ⲙⲡⲣⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ϩⲙ ⲙⲁ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲛⲧⲁⲩ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲛ
3 grace and peace be to you from God our Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ.
ⲅ̅ⲧⲉⲭⲁⲣⲓⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲙⲛ ϯⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲛⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲙⲛ ⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ
4 I always give thanks unto my God, on your account, for the grace of God bestowed on you in Christ Jesus; that ye are enriched by Him with every gift,
ⲇ̅ϯϣⲡϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲛⲧⲙ ⲡⲁⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲛⲓⲙ ϩⲁⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ ⲉϫⲛ ⲧⲉⲭⲁⲣⲓⲥ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲧⲁⲁⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ
5 in all utterance and knowledge;
ⲉ̅ϫⲉ ϩⲛ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲣⲣⲙⲙⲁⲟ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ϩⲛ ϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ
6 (even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed among you; )
ⲋ̅ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲛⲧⲁ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲧⲁϫⲣⲟ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ
7 so that ye are deficient in no gift, expecting the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ:
ⲍ̅ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲙⲧⲣⲉⲧⲛϣⲱⲱⲧ ⲛⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲛϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϭⲱϣⲧ ϩⲏⲧϥ ⲙⲡϭⲱⲗⲡ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ
8 who will also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ;
ⲏ̅ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲛⲁⲧⲁϫⲣⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲏⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲙⲛ ⲛⲟⲃⲉ ϫⲓ ⲉϩⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ ϣⲁ ⲡⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ
9 for God is faithful by whom ye were called into the communion of his son Jesus Christ our Lord.
ⲑ̅ⲟⲩⲡⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲉϩⲙ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧϥ ⲉⲧⲕⲟⲓⲛⲱⲛⲓⲁ ⲙⲡⲉϥϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ
10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye would all say alike, and that there may be no schisms among you, but that ye be perfectly united in the same mind and in the same judgement.
ⲓ̅ⲧⲛⲡⲁⲣⲁⲕⲁⲗⲉⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ⲛⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲣⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲉⲛϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉϫⲱ ⲙⲡⲓϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲧⲏⲣⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲙⲡⲱⲣϫ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲃⲧⲱⲧ ϩⲙ ⲡⲓϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲙⲛϯⲅⲛⲱⲙⲏ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ
11 For I have been informed concerning you, my brethren, by some of Chloe's family, that there are contentions among you.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲁⲩⲧⲁⲙⲟⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲛⲁⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓ ⲧⲟⲟⲩⲧⲟⲩ ⲛⲛⲁⲭⲗⲟⲏ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛ ϩⲉⲛϯⲧⲱⲛ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ
12 I mean, that each of you saith, as if of different parties, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, I of Cephas, and I of Christ.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ϯϫⲱ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲁⲛⲅ ⲡⲁ ⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲛⲅ ⲡⲁ ⲁⲡⲟⲗⲗⲱ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲛⲅ ⲡⲁ ⲕⲏⲫⲁ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲛⲅ ⲡⲁ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ
13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul?
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲙⲏ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲡⲱϣ ⲙⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲙⲏ ⲛⲧⲁⲩⲥⲧⲁⲩⲣⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ ϩⲁⲣⲱⲧⲛ ⲏ ⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲓ ⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲥⲙⲁ ⲉⲡⲣⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲁⲩⲗⲟⲥ
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius:
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ϯϣⲡϩⲙⲟⲧ ϫⲉ ⲙⲡⲓⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲍⲉ ⲛⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ⲛⲥⲁ ⲕⲣⲓⲥⲡⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲅⲁⲓⲟⲥ
15 so that no one can say I baptized in my own name.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲛⲛⲉ ⲟⲩⲁ ϫⲟⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲍⲉ ⲉⲡⲁⲣⲁⲛ
16 I also baptized indeed the family of Stephanas: but I know not whether I baptized any other.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲁⲓⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲍⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲕⲉⲏⲉⲓ ⲛⲥⲧⲉⲫⲁⲛⲁ ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲱⲥ ϭⲉ ⲛϯⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲁⲓⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲍⲉ ⲛϭⲉ
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in fine speech, least the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲛⲧⲁ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲛⲛⲟⲟⲩⲧ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲃⲁⲡⲧⲓⲍⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲉⲩⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲓⲍⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲟⲫⲓⲁ ⲁⲛ ⲛϣⲁϫⲉ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲛⲛⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉϥϣⲟⲩⲉⲓⲧ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲉⲥⲧⲁⲩⲣⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲉⲭⲥ
18 For the doctrine of the cross is to them, that perish, foolishness: but to us, who are saved, it is the power of God.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲡⲉⲥⲧⲁⲩⲣⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲙⲛⲧⲥⲟϭ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲁϩⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲁⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ⲟⲩϭⲟⲙ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉ
19 For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ϥⲥⲏϩ ⲅⲁⲣ ϫⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲧⲁⲕⲟ ⲛⲧⲥⲟⲫⲓⲁ ⲛⲛⲥⲟⲫⲟⲥ ⲧⲁⲁⲑⲉⲧⲉⲓ ⲛⲧⲙⲛⲧⲥⲁⲃⲉ ⲛⲛⲥⲁⲃⲉⲉⲩ
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputant of the age? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? (aiōn )
ⲕ̅ⲉϥⲧⲱⲛ ⲥⲟⲫⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲧⲱⲛ ⲅⲣⲁⲙⲙⲁⲧⲉⲩⲥ ⲉϥⲧⲱⲛ ⲥⲩⲛⲍⲏⲧⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲓⲁⲓⲱⲛ ⲙⲏ ⲙⲡⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲛⲧⲥⲟⲫⲓⲁ ⲙⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲥⲟϭ (aiōn )
21 For, since in the wisdom of God the world by it's wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by what they called the folly of preaching to save those that believe.
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲉⲡⲉⲓⲇⲏ ⲅⲁⲣ ϩⲛ ⲧⲥⲟⲫⲓⲁ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲡⲉ ⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲥⲟⲩⲛ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲧⲥⲟⲫⲓⲁ ⲁϥⲣϩⲛⲁϥ ⲇⲉ ⲛϭⲓ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲟⲩϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲥⲟϭ ⲙⲡⲧⲁϣⲉⲟⲉⲓϣ
22 And whereas the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks look for wisdom, we preach Christ crucified;
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲉⲡⲉⲓⲇⲏ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ϩⲉⲛⲙⲁⲉⲓⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲓⲧⲓ ⲙⲙⲟⲟⲩ ⲛϩⲉⲗⲗⲏⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲩϣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛⲥⲁ ⲟⲩⲥⲟⲫⲓⲁ
23 to the Jews indeed a stumbling-block, and to the Greeks foolishness; but to them that are called,
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϣⲉⲟⲓϣ ⲙⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲉⲁⲩⲥⲧⲁⲩⲣⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲕⲁⲛⲇⲁⲗⲟⲛ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲙⲛⲧⲥⲟϭ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲛϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ
24 both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲛⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲧⲁϩⲙ ⲙⲛ ⲛϩⲉⲗⲗⲏⲛ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲟⲩϭⲟⲙ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲥⲟⲫⲓⲁ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉ
25 Because the foolishness of God, as they call it, is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ϫⲉ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲥⲟϭ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲙⲛⲧⲥⲁⲃⲉ ⲧⲉ ⲛϩⲟⲩⲟ ⲉⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲙⲛⲧϭⲱⲃ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲥϫⲟⲟⲣ ⲛϩⲟⲩⲟ ⲉⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ
26 For ye see by your calling, brethren, that not many wise men according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called:
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲛϭⲱϣⲧ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲡⲉⲧⲛⲧⲱϩⲙ ⲛⲁⲥⲛⲏⲩ ϫⲉ ⲙⲛ ϩⲁϩ ⲛⲥⲟⲫⲟⲥ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⲙⲛ ϩⲁϩ ⲛⲇⲩⲛⲁⲧⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ϩⲁϩ ⲛⲉⲩⲅⲉⲛⲏⲥ
27 but God hath chosen things that are foolish in the eye of the world to put it's wise men to confusion; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the mighty;
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛⲥⲟϭ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲥⲟⲧⲡⲟⲩ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉϥⲉϯϣⲓⲡⲉ ⲛⲛⲥⲁⲃⲉⲉⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛϭⲱⲃ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲥⲟⲧⲡⲟⲩ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉϥⲉϯϣⲓⲡⲉ ⲛⲛϫⲱⲱⲣⲉ
28 and things in the opinion of the world ignoble, and despicable, and accounted as nothing, hath God chosen, to abolish things that are in esteem among men;
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛϩⲏⲕⲉ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲙⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲥⲟϣϥ ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲥⲟⲧⲡⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲉϣⲟⲟⲡ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉϥⲉⲕⲁⲧⲁⲣⲅⲉⲓ ⲛⲛⲉⲧϣⲟⲟⲡ
29 that no flesh may glory in his presence.
ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲉ ⲗⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲥⲁⲣⲝ ϣⲟⲩϣⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲙⲡⲉⲙⲧⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
30 But ye are of Him in Christ Jesus, who from God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
ⲗ̅ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϩⲏⲧϥ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲛⲥⲟⲫⲓⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲃⲃⲟ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲥⲱⲧⲉ
31 that, as it is written, He that glorieth may glory in the Lord.
ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲧⲥⲏϩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲧϣⲟⲩϣⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲙⲁⲣⲉϥϣⲟⲩϣⲟⲩ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϩⲙ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ
