Zephaniah 3
1 Woe to her who is rebellious and polluted, the oppressing city!
Malheur à la ville gloutonne, et souillée, et qui ne fait qu'opprimer.
2 She didn’t obey the voice. She didn’t receive correction. She didn’t trust in the LORD. She didn’t draw near to her God.
Elle n'a point écouté la voix; elle n'a point reçu d'instruction; elle ne s'est point confiée en l'Eternel; elle ne s'est point approchée de son Dieu.
3 Her princes within her are roaring lions. Her judges are evening wolves. They leave nothing until the next day.
Ses princes [sont] au-dedans d'elle des lions rugissants, et ses gouverneurs sont des loups du soir, qui ne quittent point les os pour les ronger au matin.
4 Her prophets are arrogant and treacherous people. Her priests have profaned the sanctuary. They have done violence to the law.
Ses prophètes sont des téméraires, et des hommes infidèles; ses sacrificateurs ont souillé les choses saintes, ils ont fait violence à la Loi.
5 The LORD, within her, is righteous. He will do no wrong. Every morning he brings his justice to light. He doesn’t fail, but the unjust know no shame.
L'Eternel juste est au milieu d'elle, il ne fait point d'iniquité; chaque matin il met son jugement en lumière, sans que rien y manque; mais l'inique ne sait ce que c'est que d'avoir honte.
6 I have cut off nations. Their battlements are desolate. I have made their streets waste, so that no one passes by. Their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, so that there is no inhabitant.
J'ai exterminé les nations, et leurs forteresses ont été désolées; j'ai rendu désertes leurs places, tellement que personne n'y passe; leurs villes ont été détruites, sans qu'il y soit resté un seul homme, et sans qu'il y ait aucun habitant.
7 I said, “Just fear me. Receive correction,” so that her dwelling won’t be cut off, according to all that I have appointed concerning her. But they rose early and corrupted all their doings.
[Et] je disais; Au moins tu me craindras, tu recevras instruction, et sa demeure ne sera point retranchée, quelque punition que j'envoie sur elle; mais ils se sont levés de bon matin, ils ont corrompu toutes leurs actions.
8 “Therefore wait for me”, says the LORD, “until the day that I rise up to the prey, for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms to pour on them my indignation, even all my fierce anger, for all the earth will be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.
C'est pourquoi attendez-moi, dit l'Eternel, au jour que je me lèverai pour le dégât; car mon ordonnance est d'amasser les nations, et d'assembler les Royaumes, afin que je répande sur eux mon indignation, et toute l'ardeur de ma colère; car tout le pays sera dévoré par le feu de ma jalousie.
9 For then I will purify the lips of the peoples, that they may all call on the LORD’s name, to serve him shoulder to shoulder.
Même alors je changerai aux peuples leurs lèvres, en des lèvres pures; afin qu'ils invoquent tous le Nom de l'Eternel, pour le servir d'un même esprit.
10 From beyond the rivers of Cush, my worshipers, even the daughter of my dispersed people, will bring my offering.
Mes adorateurs qui sont au-delà des fleuves de Cus, [savoir], la fille de mes dispersés, m'apporteront mes offrandes.
11 In that day you will not be disappointed for all your doings in which you have transgressed against me; for then I will take away out from among you your proudly exulting ones, and you will no more be arrogant in my holy mountain.
En ce jour-là tu ne seras plus confuse à cause de toutes tes actions, par lesquelles tu as péché contre moi; parce qu'alors j'aurai ôté du milieu de toi ceux qui se réjouissent de ton orgueil, et désormais tu ne t'enorgueilliras plus de la montagne de ma sainteté.
12 But I will leave among you an afflicted and poor people, and they will take refuge in the LORD’s name.
Et je ferai demeurer de reste au milieu de toi un peuple affligé et chétif, qui auront leur retraite vers le Nom de l'Eternel.
13 The remnant of Israel will not do iniquity nor speak lies, neither will a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth, for they will feed and lie down, and no one will make them afraid.”
Les restes d'Israël ne feront point d'iniquité, et ne proféreront point de mensonge, et il n'y aura point dans leur bouche de langue trompeuse; aussi ils paîtront, et feront leur gîte, et il n'y aura personne qui les épouvante.
14 Sing, daughter of Zion! Shout, Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, daughter of Jerusalem.
Réjouis-toi avec chant de triomphe, fille de Sion! Jette des cris de réjouissance, ô Israël! Réjouis-toi, et t'égaye de tout ton cœur, fille de Jérusalem!
15 The LORD has taken away your judgments. He has thrown out your enemy. The King of Israel, the LORD, is among you. You will not be afraid of evil any more.
L'Eternel a aboli ta condamnation, il a éloigné ton ennemi; le Roi d'Israël, l'Eternel, [est] au milieu de toi; tu ne sentiras plus de mal.
16 In that day, it will be said to Jerusalem, “Don’t be afraid, Zion. Don’t let your hands be weak.”
En ce temps-là, on dira à Jérusalem: Ne crains point, Sion, que tes mains ne soient point lâches.
17 The LORD, your God, is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing.
L'Eternel ton Dieu est au milieu de toi; le Puissant te délivrera; il se réjouira à cause de toi d'une grande joie: Il se taira à cause de son amour, et il s'égayera à cause de toi avec chant de triomphe.
18 I will remove those who grieve about the appointed feasts from you. They are a burden and a reproach to you.
Je rassemblerai ceux qui sont affligés à cause de l'assemblée assignée; ils sont sortis de toi; ce qui la surchargeait ne sera qu'opprobre.
19 Behold, at that time I will deal with all those who afflict you; and I will save those who are lame and gather those who were driven away. I will give them praise and honor, whose shame has been in all the earth.
Voici, je détruirai en ce temps-là tous ceux qui t'auront affligée; je délivrerai la boiteuse, je recueillerai celle qui avait été chassée, et je les ferai louer et devenir célèbres, dans tous les pays où ils auront été couverts de honte.
20 At that time I will bring you in, and at that time I will gather you; for I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth when I restore your fortunes before your eyes, says the LORD.
En ce temps-là je vous ferai retourner, et en ce temps-là je vous rassemblerai; car je vous rendrai célèbres et un sujet de louange parmi tous les peuples de la terre, quand je ramènerai vos captifs en votre présence; a dit l'Eternel.
