< Psalms 4 >
1 For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments. A Psalm by David. Answer me when I call, God of my righteousness. Give me relief from my distress. Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
(Til sangmesteren. Med strengespil. En salme af David.) Svar, når jeg råber, min Retfærds Gud! I Trængsel skaffede du mig Rum. Vær nådig og hør min Bøn!
2 You sons of men, how long shall my glory be turned into dishonor? Will you love vanity and seek after falsehood? (Selah)
Hvor længe, I Mænd, skal min Ære skændes? Hvor længe vil I elske Tomhed, søge Løgn? (Sela)
3 But know that the LORD has set apart for himself him who is godly; The LORD will hear when I call to him.
Vid dog, at HERREN er mig underfuldt god; når jeg påkalder HERREN, hører han mig.
4 Stand in awe, and don’t sin. Search your own heart on your bed, and be still. (Selah)
Vredes kun, men forsynd eder ikke, tænk efter på eders Leje og ti! (Sela)
5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness. Put your trust in the LORD.
Bring rette Ofre og stol på HERREN!
6 Many say, “Who will show us any good?” LORD, let the light of your face shine on us.
Mange siger: "Hvo bringer os Lykke?" Opløft på os dit Åsyns Lys!
7 You have put gladness in my heart, more than when their grain and their new wine are increased.
HERRE, du skænked mit Hjerte en Glæde, større end deres, da Korn og Most flød over.
8 In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me live in safety.
I Fred går jeg til Hvile og slumrer straks, thi, HERRE, du lader mig bo alene i Tryghed.
